174 O God, You Have Given Me Too Much Love
I
God, Your work is too real, full of righteousness and holiness;
You have been patiently working for so long all for our sake.
In the past I believed in God but had no likeness of man,
Disobeying and grieving You yet unaware of that;
Ashamed, remorseful, and indebted to You, today I have just understood.
God, it’s You who have given me love, and only in judgment and chastisement have I understood.
Seeing Your loveliness I have just truly known my corruption.
So many times looking back at the path I have walked,
I realize that judgment and chastisement are blessings to me;
And I know Your true love for mankind.
You are worthy of man’s love.
II
Without Your severe judgment, I would not be what I am today.
Facing Your true love, I feel grateful and indebted.
It’s Your work that has saved me,
So that I’m transformed in my disposition,
And I have no sorrows or sufferings, full of joy in my heart.
God, it’s You who have given me love, so that I can be fortunate to come before You,
And pursue to know You; this is the greatest blessing in my life.
So many times looking back at the path I have walked,
If I still care for myself, I’m really too disobedient.
To know myself and love You more purely in the end,
I should suffer refining.
So many times looking back at the path I have walked,
If I still care for myself, I’m really too disobedient.
To know myself and love You more purely in the end,
I should suffer refining.
