176 God Became Flesh to Work Because of Man’s Need
Intro
God is not related to rewards or any gains.
There is no future harvest, just what He is owed.
All He does for mankind is not for His own gain,
but purely for mankind.
Verse 1
God’s work in the flesh is hard beyond imagination,
but in the end bears more fruit than work done by the Spirit.
The flesh cannot possess the Spirit’s great identity,
He can’t do supernatural deeds like the Spirit can,
much less can He possess the Spirit’s authority.
Yet this ordinary flesh does work having substance
that’s better than the work the Spirit does directly.
This flesh Himself answers the needs of all mankind.
Chorus
The only reason God incarnate has come into flesh
is because of the needs of man and not the needs of God.
His sacrifices and sufferings are for man’s sake
and not for God Himself.
Verse 2
For all who seek the truth and long for God’s appearance,
the Spirit’s work can bring just moving or inspiration
and a sense of wonder that defies all explanation,
a sense that He transcends and is to be admired,
yet cannot be reached by any human being.
But the work of the flesh gives man
clear words and real goals to pursue,
a sense that He is real, a sense that He is normal,
a sense that He is humble and that He is ordinary.
Chorus
The only reason God incarnate has come into flesh
is because of the needs of man and not the needs of God.
His sacrifices and sufferings are for man’s sake
and not for God Himself.
Bridge
Though man may fear Him, most can relate to Him.
Man can see His face, man can hear His voice
and need not look at Him from afar.
This flesh feels approachable to man,
He’s not distant or unfathomable,
but can be seen and touched, for He’s in the world of man.
Chorus
The only reason God incarnate has come into flesh
is because of the needs of man and not the needs of God.
His sacrifices and sufferings are for man’s sake
and not for God Himself.
