530 God Most Detests Man’s Obduracy and Recidivism

Chorus

Human nature remains unchanged.

What’s in their hearts isn’t after God’s will.

God most detests man’s stubbornness

and likelihood to fall into their old ways.

Verse 1

What causes man to fail knowing God,

to keep Him far and not act by His will,

opposing Him behind His back?

Is this loyalty and love for God?

Why can’t they repent, be born again?

Why are they content to live in mud?

Did God mistreat them,

show them the wrong way, leading them to hell?

Chorus

Human nature remains unchanged.

What’s in their hearts isn’t after God’s will.

God most detests man’s stubbornness

and likelihood to fall into their old ways.

Verse 2

Everyone’s willing to live in “hell.”

When the light comes, their eyes go blind,

for everything in them comes from hell.

Yet they don’t know this, enjoying “infernal blessings.”

They clutch them to their chest like treasures,

worried God will snatch them away,

leaving them without what they call

the “root of their existence.”

Pre-chorus

People fear God, so when He comes to earth,

they hate to draw near to Him,

unwilling to “bring trouble,” trying to keep family peace,

to enjoy “joy on earth.”

Chorus

Human nature remains unchanged.

What’s in their hearts isn’t after God’s will.

God most detests man’s stubbornness

and likelihood to fall into their old ways.

Verse 3

Peace is gone when God arrives.

He intends to destroy all nations,

to say nothing of man’s family.

Who can escape the grasp of God?

Can a person who receives blessings

escape because they’re unwilling?

Can the chastised gain God’s sympathy

by virtue of their fear?

Bridge

People see God’s will and actions in His words,

but who can escape their own thoughts?

Who can find another way out

within or without God’s words?

Chorus

Human nature remains unchanged.

What’s in their hearts isn’t after God’s will.

God most detests man’s stubbornness

and likelihood to fall into their old ways.
