182 The Authority of God’s Incarnation
Intro
When God becomes flesh, He looks like other men,
but the results His words achieve show
He is God Himself, full of authority,
His words are the expression of God Himself.
Verse 1
Man learns He should never be offended,
His word’s judgement can’t be exceeded,
no dark force can overcome His power.
Man submits to Him all because He’s the Word become flesh,
due to His authority, judgment by the word.
Chorus 1
The work brought by God’s incarnate flesh is His authority.
The flesh can also possess authority,
He can do practical work when He’s among men,
visible, tangible work among them;
this is why God incarnates.
Verse 2
God’s work in flesh is more realistic
than work God’s Spirit does directly,
He who possesses all of authority,
and its results are seen much more clearly,
for God in the flesh speaks and works practically.
Chorus 2
The outward form of His flesh holds no authority,
He is able to be approached by man,
while His essence continues to hold His authority.
It’s an authority that’s seen by no one.
When He speaks as flesh and He does His work,
man can’t detect His authority,
so He’s able to do work that’s practical.
Verse 3
And this practical work of God incarnate
achieves results just as intended.
No man knows that He holds this authority,
or knows He should not be offended,
and man is unable to see His wrath,
but His words achieve all
through His hidden wrath and authority.
Chorus 1
The work brought by God’s incarnate flesh is His authority.
The flesh can also possess authority,
He can do practical work when He’s among men,
visible, tangible work among them;
this is why God incarnates.
Bridge
Through His tone of voice, words of wisdom,
and the sternness when He is speaking,
man is convinced without question.
This way man fully submits
to the words of God incarnate,
who seems to have no authority.
This fulfills the aim God has—man’s salvation.
Outro
One aim of God’s incarnation:
for His speech to be realistic,
for His words’ reality to affect man,
so that man may be able to witness,
witness the power of God’s word.
