Chapter 23. Man’s Arrogant Nature Is the Root of His Opposition to God

…………

The manifestation of arrogance is rebelling against and opposing God. When people are arrogant, self-important, and self-righteous, they tend to set up their own independent kingdoms and do things however they want. They also draw others over into their own hands and draw them into their embrace. When people are capable of doing these kinds of things, the essence of their arrogance is that of the archangel. When their arrogance and self-importance reaches a certain level, then that determines that they are the archangel and will put God aside. If you have this kind of arrogant disposition, then God will have no place in your heart.

We’ve preached the gospel over and over to many leaders within religious circles, but no matter how we fellowship on the truth with them, they won’t accept it. Why is this? It’s because their arrogance has become second nature and God is no longer in their hearts! Some people may say: “People under the leadership of some pastors in the religious world really have a lot of drive. It seems that they have God in their midst!” No matter how lofty those pastors’ sermons may be, do they know God? If they really revered God in their hearts, would they make people follow them and exalt them? Would they monopolize others? Would they dare to impose restrictions on others seeking the truth and investigating the true way? If they believe that God’s sheep are actually theirs and that His sheep should all listen to them, aren’t they themselves acting as God? Such people are even worse than the Pharisees. Are they not antichrists? Thus, given their arrogant nature, it can control them into doing things that betray God.

63. The Bible says that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, then why do you say that the Bible isn’t fully the words of God?

“The Bible is not entirely a record of God’s own utterance; rather, it is just an account of the first two stages of God’s work. Part of it consists of the words of the prophets, and part of it documents the experiences and knowledge of people who were used by God down through the ages. Unavoidably, the writers’ own opinions and knowledge are mixed in their experiences. Many books in it are colored by human notions, prejudices, and erroneous understandings... "

50. We obey and submit to the pastors and elders in everything, is this the same as submitting to God? Is belief in God in this manner a way to achieve salvation?

“People who believe in God should obey God and worship Him. You should not exalt or look up to any person; you ought not to give first place to God, second place to the people you look up to, and third place to yourself. No person should hold a place in your heart, and you should not consider people—particularly those you venerate—to be on a par with God, to be His equal. This is intolerable to God.”

1. Why should mankind believe in God?

“God created all things, and so He makes all creation come under His dominion, and submit to His dominion; He will command all things, so that all things are in His hands. All creation of God, including animals, plants, mankind, the mountains and rivers, and the lakes—all must come under His dominion. All things in the skies and on the ground must come under His dominion. They cannot have any choice, and must all submit to His orchestrations"
