77. The Principles of Obeying God’s Words and the Truth

1. You must recognize that all of God’s words are the truth. Whether they accord with man’s conceptions or not, they will never change, and you must not pick and choose which ones you accept and obey;

2. You must practice all the truths within God’s words. No matter how much of God’s words you understand, obey and practice them first, and through experiencing them, you will gradually gain a clear understanding of them;

3. You must obey the judgment and chastisement, and the pruning and dealing of God’s words so as to gain knowledge of your own corrupt essence and enter into the reality of the truth;

4. You must obey the authority of God’s words. No matter who speaks, as long as what they say conforms to God’s words and to the truth, then you should accept and obey it—God’s words are the highest authority.

Relevant Words of God:

My words are the forever unchanging truth. I am the supply of life for man and the only guide for mankind. The worth and meaning of My words are not determined by whether they are recognized or accepted by mankind, but by the substance of the words themselves. Even if not a single person on this earth can receive My words, the value of My words and their help to mankind are inestimable by any man. Therefore, when faced with the many men who rebel against, refute, or are utterly contemptuous of My words, My stance is only this: Let time and facts be My witness and show that My words are the truth, the way, and the life. Let them show that all I have said is right, and is that which man should be furnished with, and, moreover, that which man should accept. I will let all who follow Me know this fact: Those who cannot fully accept My words, those who cannot practice My words, those who cannot find a purpose in My words, and those who cannot receive salvation because of My words, are those who have been condemned by My words and, moreover, have lost My salvation, and My rod shall never stray from them.

from “You Ought to Consider Your Deeds” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

We should see God’s words as the truth in how we treat Him. Since they are the truth, we should accept them with reason. Whether or not we are able to recognize or acknowledge it, our first attitude should be one of acceptance. We should accept God’s words without exception.

from “The Importance and the Path of Pursuing the Truth” in Records of Christ’s Talks

As for suspicion, what does it mean to be suspicious? It means you’re always wondering: “Is it right for God to do this? Why does God say this? If this is what God says, but there’s no reason behind it, I won’t obey it. If God does this, but it is unjust, I won’t obey. I’ll drop it for now.” To not harbor suspicions means recognizing that whatever God says and does is right, and with God there is no right or wrong. Man must obey God, care for God, satisfy God, and share in His thoughts and concerns. Regardless of whether or not everything God does seems meaningful or appropriate to you, whether it is agreeable to your conceptions, and regardless of whether it makes sense to you or whether it conforms to your imaginations, you must always obey and must have a reverent, submissive heart toward all that God does.

from “Providing the Truth Is the Real Way to Lead Others” in Records of Christ’s Talks

The more you practice God’s word, the more quickly your life will blossom; the more you practice God’s word, the clearer the truth becomes. As you grow in stature, you will see things of the spiritual world more clearly, and you will be more powerful to triumph over Satan. Much of the truth that you don’t understand will be made clear when you practice the word of God.

from “Practice the Truth Once You Understand It” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

People cannot change their disposition themselves; they must undergo the judgment and chastisement and painful refinement of God’s words, or being dealt with, disciplined, and pruned by His words. Only after that can they achieve obedience and devotion to God, and not try to fool Him and deal with Him perfunctorily. It is under the refinement of God’s words that people have a change in disposition. Only those who undergo the exposure, judgment, disciplining, and dealing with of His words will no longer dare to do things recklessly, and will become calm and collected. The most important point is that they are able to obey God’s current words and obey God’s work, and even if it is not in line with human notions, they can put them aside and intentionally obey. When a change in disposition has been spoken of in the past, it has mainly been about forsaking oneself, allowing the flesh to suffer, disciplining one’s body, and ridding oneself of fleshly preferences—this is one type of change in disposition. People now know that the real expression of a change in disposition is obeying the current words of God as well as being able to have a genuine understanding of His new work. This way people will be able to get rid of their previous understanding of God in their notions, and achieve a true understanding of and obedience to Him. Only this is a genuine expression of a change in disposition.

from “People Whose Dispositions Have Changed Are Those Who Have Entered Into the Reality of God’s Words” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

When reading His words, Peter was not focused on understanding doctrines and he was even less focused on obtaining theological knowledge; instead, he was focused on understanding the truth and grasping God’s will, and achieving an understanding of His disposition and His loveliness. He also tried to understand the various corrupt states of man from God’s words, and understand the corrupt nature of man and man’s true shortcomings, achieving all aspects of the demands God makes of man in order to satisfy Him. …When experiencing the hundreds of trials from God, he examined himself strictly against every word of God’s judgment of man, every word of God’s revelation of man, and every word of His demands of man, and tried to reach for the meaning of God’s words. He tried in earnest to ponder and memorize every word that Jesus said to him, and achieved very good results. Through this way of practicing he was able to achieve an understanding of himself from God’s words, and he not only came to understand the various corrupt states of man, but he also came to understand man’s essence, man’s nature, and the various types of shortcomings that man has—this is a true understanding of oneself. … Peter went through hundreds of trials but did not suffer in vain. He not only came to understand himself from the words and the work of God, but he also came to know God.

from “How to Take the Path of Peter” in Records of Christ’s Talks

You must be a lover of truth, accept the judgment and chastisement of God’s word as you experience His work, and experience all kinds of suffering and refining, through which you are purified of the satanic poisons within you. This is the transformation in disposition. If a person’s nature is very bad, if he is an evil person, then God will not save him, and the Holy Spirit will be unable to work within him. Put another way, it is like a doctor curing a patient: A person who contracts pneumonia can be treated, but one who contracts lung cancer cannot be saved. The transformation in disposition means that a person, because he loves and can accept the truth, finally comes to know his disobedient and God-resisting nature; he understands that the corruption of man is too deep and understands man’s absurdness and deceitfulness. He knows man’s poorness and pitifulness, and finally understands man’s nature and essence. Knowing all this, he can deny and forsake himself completely, live by God’s word, and practice the truth in everything. Such a person knows God and has his disposition transformed.

from “How to Know Man’s Nature” in Records of Christ’s Talks

I am a consuming fire and I do not tolerate offense. Because humans were all created by Me, whatever I say and do, people must obey and may not rebel against. People do not have the right to meddle in My work, and they are particularly not qualified to analyze what is right or wrong in My work and My words. I am the Lord of creation, and the creatures should achieve everything that I require with a heart of reverence for Me; they should not reason with Me and they especially should not resist. I am using My authority to reign over My people, and all those who are part of My creation should obey My authority.

from “When Falling Leaves Return to Their Roots You Will Regret All the Evil You Have Done” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

What is it to accept truth? It means that no matter which corrupt disposition you have or which venom of the great red dragon poisons your nature, you acknowledge it when it is revealed by God’s word and submit to God’s word with utter conviction. And, you know yourself according to God’s word. This is what it means to accept God’s word. No matter what God says, no matter how piercing to the heart, no matter what words He uses, you can accept it as long as it is truth, and you can acknowledge it as long as it conforms to reality. You can submit to God’s word regardless of how deeply you understand it, and you accept and submit to the light of enlightenment from the Holy Spirit that is communicated by the brothers and sisters. When such a person’s pursuit of truth has reached a certain point, he can obtain truth and achieve the transformation of his disposition.

from “How to Know Man’s Nature” in Records of Christ’s Talks

The Man’s Fellowship:

People must now know how to pursue the truth so as to enter into reality, but there is also a process to this, for understanding the truth is an incremental and progressive process. When we’ve only just begun to pursue a certain aspect of the truth, we certainly aren’t able to understand it completely. We can only understand it a little—10 percent, 20 percent, then 30 percent and 40 percent—our understanding of the truth is progressively deepened through practicing the truth. When you first begin to have some understanding of the truth, you feel, “This is the truth. I know how to practice it at last. I understand it at last.” At this time you then become willing to practice the truth. Once you have practiced the truth for a period, your knowledge of the truth deepens and, after your knowledge deepens, you become even more willing to practice it. After you have achieved complete clarity on the truth, when you practice it, you will then gain it, and the truth will then become your life. Therefore, entering the truth is done in an incremental and progressive process until the truth is finally gained in its entirety.

Because in God’s family, the authority of God’s words is supreme. At any time and in the presence of any person, as long as you make sure that it is the authority of God’s words and that it is the truth, then you have to persevere, and you mustn’t be afraid of displeasing anyone, afraid of displeasing either those in a higher position than you or displeasing your immediate superior. You must be persevering in the truth and persevering with God’s words, and people like this are guaranteed to become people who obey God absolutely, and are guaranteed to be perfected by God. Are you willing to become someone who obeys the authority of God’s words absolutely? Whether you are in the presence of other people or in the presence of the man used by the Holy Spirit, you must think, “If your actions are at odds with God’s words then I won’t listen to what you say. My priority is obeying God’s words and obeying the truth. If the work arrangements, sermons and fellowship given by the man used by the Holy Spirit conform wholly to God’s words then I shall obey them; if they don’t, then I won’t obey them.” If you can hold on to this principle then you will be formidable, and I shall appreciate and admire you. I will certainly not reprimand you, but will elevate you. …
