498 The Principle of the Holy Spirit’s Work

Verse 1

The Holy Spirit doesn’t work one-sided,

and man cannot work alone.

Man works side by side with God’s Spirit.

It’s done with both together.

Verse 2

Man’s effort and the Holy Spirit’s work

yield knowledge of God’s word.

Gradually from daily walking this way,

a perfect person can be made.

Chorus

To be enlightened, to be illuminated

by the Holy Spirit takes some work,

through cooperation and actively praying,

searching and coming closer to God.

Verse 3

God doesn’t do things that are supernatural,

but man thinks God takes on all things.

He just waits, doesn’t read God’s word or pray,

and waits for the touch of the Spirit.

Verse 4

But those who understand think differently:

God works by how I act.

The effect of His work depends on me.

I should strive to meet His word.

Chorus

To be enlightened, to be illuminated

by the Holy Spirit takes some work,

through cooperation and actively praying,

searching and coming closer to God.

Bridge

The more people learn to do their part,

the more they pursue the attainment

of the standards of God’s requirements,

the greater the Holy Spirit’s work.

Chorus

To be enlightened, to be illuminated

by the Holy Spirit takes some work,

through cooperation and actively praying,

searching and coming closer to God.
