Question (6) How can we solve the problem of following people? How do we practice entering for this? What principles should be drawn up for us to avoid following people?
The answer is as follows: You must first know how God works. What is the most important principle that runs through knowing God’s work? God’s work is done by God Himself, and only God Himself can do God’s work. What this means is that no matter what the man used by God does, the source is the Holy Spirit. It all comes from God. You must realize that God’s work can only be done by God Himself, and the work done by the man used by the Holy Spirit also comes from the Holy Spirit, from the enlightenment and illumination of the Holy Spirit. Whatever is done by the man used by the Holy Spirit, at the end of the day it’s all God doing His own work, which is not work that people can do. Once you realize this you won’t hold people in too high a regard but will worship God instead. So what truth do we need to understand to resolve this problem? Knowing how God works, this aspect of truth is very important. Only God can do His work and the Holy Spirit controls everything and is the source of the work. If you have a heart that fears God, and you can go before God and often seek truths, then the Holy Spirit will guide you and will arrange your environment and your way forward by bringing people or things into your life that will do service for the growth of your life. Regardless of whether you follow the leadership, watering, and shepherding of the man used by the Holy Spirit, or you seek truths in the words of God, and fulfill your duties and pursue truths according to God’s words, the source is the same, and that is worship for and obedience to God. In your heart there must be real communication with God, and this principle never changes. Once you leave God, once you lose the heartfelt communication with Him, everything becomes empty. No matter who is leading you, it’s no use. God is the source of human life, and the Holy Spirit controls everything through His work, so at any time we should be worshiping God. No matter how God works through people or what the man who God uses do, the source is still God Himself, is still the Holy Spirit. So if your relationship with God isn’t right then the Holy Spirit won’t be able to work on you, and if the Holy Spirit isn’t working on you then you end up following people. You’ll waste your time following people because the Holy Spirit won’t work, and regardless of whether the people you followed are right or wrong you won’t have gained any results. You have to see this clearly, and then you won’t follow people but instead you’ll follow God. You’ll focus on worshiping God, obeying God, praying to God, and maintaining a normal relationship with God. This is how we solve the problem that you asked about, OK? So you should pursue knowing God’s work and God is the source of human life. If your relationship with God becomes abnormal, if you break the relationship and move far away from God, then everything becomes empty. And regardless of whether the people you then follow and obey are right or wrong, it will all be meaningless. Some people say: “I’ll only listen to the man used by the Holy Spirit, but nobody else.” Where’s the mistake here? I would worry that this kind of person might not have a normal relationship with God, and if the relationship is abnormal then even if they follow someone who is right the Holy Spirit still won’t work on them and the person they are following won’t be able to save them because they aren’t God, right? No matter who you admire most, in your heart you must only worship God because only God can save you. Some people ask: “Then how should we treat the man used by the Holy Spirit?” God’s words indicate that we should obey the leadership of the man used by the Holy Spirit, and we must listen to God’s words. But as we follow the leadership of the man used by the Holy Spirit we must not lose our normal relationship with God. We must obey and worship God and have absolute faith in Him. This is the origin and will never change. Maintain a normal relationship with God, and on this foundation we can follow the man used by the Holy Spirit. This is what we call truly obeying and following God, understood?
