It Is Very Important to Understand God’s Disposition (Selections)

There are many things I hope for you to achieve, yet not all of your actions, not everything about your lives, are able to fulfill what I ask, so I have no choice but to come straight to the point and explain to you My will. Given that your discernment is poor and your appreciation is likewise poor, you are almost utterly ignorant of My disposition and substance—and thus it is a matter of urgency that I inform you about them. No matter how much you previously understood, regardless of whether you wish to understand these issues, I must still explain them to you in detail. These issues are not entirely foreign to you, yet you lack much understanding, much familiarity, with the meaning contained within them. Many of you have only some dim understanding, and a partial and incomplete one at that. To help you to better practice the truth—to better practice My words—I think these are the issues you must be aware of first and foremost. If not, your faith will remain vague, hypocritical, and filled with the trappings of religion. If you do not understand the disposition of God, then it will be impossible for you to do the work you should do for Him. If you do not know the substance of God, then it will be impossible for you to have reverence and fear toward Him; instead, there will be only heedless perfunctoriness and prevarication, and moreover, incorrigible blasphemy. Although understanding God’s disposition is indeed important, and knowing God’s substance cannot be overlooked, no one has ever thoroughly examined or delved into these issues. It is plain to see that you have all dismissed the administrative decrees I have issued. If you do not understand the disposition of God, then you will be very likely to offend His disposition. Offending His disposition is tantamount to provoking the ire of God Himself, in which case the ultimate fruit of your actions will be the violation of the administrative decrees. Now you should realize that when you know God’s substance, so too can you understand His disposition—and when you understand His disposition, so too will you have understood the administrative decrees. Needless to say, much of what is contained within the administrative decrees touches upon the disposition of God, but not all of His disposition is expressed within the administrative decrees; hence, you must go a step further in developing your understanding of God’s disposition.

I speak with you today not as in ordinary conversation, so it behooves you to approach My words carefully and, moreover, to reflect deeply upon them. What I mean by this is that you have devoted too little effort to the words I have spoken. You are even less willing to ponder the disposition of God; seldom does anyone put effort into it. For this reason I say that your faith is nothing more than grandiloquence. Even now, not a single one of you has dedicated any serious effort to your most vital weakness. You have let Me down after all the pains I have taken for you. No wonder that you have no regard for God and your lives are devoid of truth. How can such people be deemed saints? Heaven’s law will not tolerate such a thing! Since you have so little understanding of this, I have no choice but to expend more breath.

The disposition of God is a subject that seems very abstract to everyone and is, moreover, one that is not easy for anyone to accept, for His disposition is unlike a human being’s personality. God, too, has His own emotions of joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, but these emotions differ from those of man. God is what He is and He has what He has. All that He expresses and reveals are representations of His substance and of His identity. What He is and what He has, as well as His substance and identity, are things that cannot be replaced by any man. His disposition encompasses His love for mankind, solace of mankind, hatred of mankind, and even more, a thorough understanding of mankind. The personality of man, however, may be optimistic, lively, or unfeeling. The disposition of God is one that belongs to the Ruler of all things and living beings, to the Lord of all creation. His disposition represents honor, power, nobility, greatness, and most of all, supremacy. His disposition is the symbol of authority, the symbol of all that is righteous, the symbol of all that is beautiful and good. More than that, it is a symbol of Him who cannot be[a] overcome or invaded by the darkness and any enemy force, as well as a symbol of Him who cannot be offended (nor will He tolerate being offended)[b] by any created being. His disposition is the symbol of the highest power. No person or persons can or may disturb His work or His disposition. But the personality of man is no more than a mere symbol of the slight superiority of man over beast. Man in and of himself has no authority, no autonomy, and no ability to transcend the self, but is in his substance one who cowers at the mercy of all manner of people, events, and things. The joy of God is due to the existence and emergence of righteousness and light, because of the destruction of darkness and evil. He takes delight in bringing the light and a good life to mankind; His joy is a righteous joy, a symbol of the existence of all that is positive and, even more, a symbol of auspiciousness. The anger of God is due to the harm that the existence and interference of injustice brings upon His mankind, because of the existence of evil and darkness, because of the existence of things that drive out the truth, and even more, because of the existence of things that oppose what is good and beautiful. His anger is a symbol that all things negative no longer exist and, even more than that, it is a symbol of His holiness. His sorrow is due to mankind, for whom He has hopes but who has fallen into darkness, because the work He does on man does not come up to His expectations, and because the mankind He loves cannot all live in the light. He feels sorrow for the innocent mankind, for the honest but ignorant man, and for the man who is good but lacking in his own views. His sorrow is a symbol of His goodness and of His mercy, a symbol of beauty and of kindness. His happiness, of course, comes from defeating His enemies and gaining the good faith of man. More than this, it arises from the expulsion and destruction of all enemy forces, and because mankind receives a good and peaceful life. The happiness of God is unlike the joy of man; rather, it is the feeling of garnering good fruits, a feeling even greater than joy. His happiness is a symbol of mankind breaking free of suffering from this time forth, and a symbol of mankind entering a world of light. The emotions of mankind, on the other hand, all arise for the sake of his own interests, not for righteousness, light, or what is beautiful, and least of all for the grace bestowed by Heaven. The emotions of mankind are selfish and belong to the world of darkness. They do not exist for the sake of the will, much less for the plan of God, and so man and God can never be spoken of in the same breath. God is forever supreme and ever honorable, while man is forever base, forever worthless. This is because God is forever making sacrifices and devoting Himself to mankind; man, however, forever takes and strives only for himself. God is forever taking pains for mankind’s survival, yet man never contributes anything for the sake of the light or for righteousness. Even if man makes an effort for a time, it is so weak that it cannot withstand a single blow, for the effort of man is always for his own sake and not for others. Man is always selfish, while God is forever selfless. God is the source of all that is just, good, and beautiful, while man is he who succeeds to and makes manifest all ugliness and evil. God will never alter His substance of righteousness and beauty, yet man is perfectly capable, at any time and in any situation, of betraying righteousness and straying far from God.

How do you feel after reading a few passages of God’s words? Isn’t this the voice of God? You are able to recognize the voice of God. Are there people who are not able to do so? Those who are unable to recognize that it is God’s voice will find themselves in trouble, because this means they do not understand spiritual matters. Many religious people cannot recognize that it is the voice of God, so they are like the foolish virgins. How do we interpret the word “foolish” here? It means they do not understand spiritual matters, blind to the truth and incapable of recognizing the voice of God. People like this are foolish. Even if they accept God’s work, are they able to attain salvation? No, they’re not, but some people are unaware of this. Religious people think, “You are saved once you believe, whoever believes is saved and whoever does not believe is not saved.” Is this statement correct? This is not the case. God’s words state, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” Believing in God does not mean you are saved once you believe, and it is not that whoever believes is saved. You must be wise virgins, you must be able to hear God’s voice, discern God’s voice, and discern the truth. Only such people can be saved. Some people ask for the reason. This is because by expressing the truth God cleanses people, and by expressing the truth He saves and perfects people. If people hear but don’t understand the truth that He expresses, and instead regard them as human words and the work of man, then they will not obtain the truth. People who cannot obtain the truth cannot have life. What does life refer to? It refers to the truth. If you obtain the truth, you will gain life; if you don’t have the truth, you have no life. Therefore, in religion, regardless of how many years people have believed in the Lord, if they can understand His words, understand other words of God recorded in the Bible, see the difference between God’s words and man’s words in the Bible, and have some knowledge and understanding of God’s disposition in His words, then they will be able to attain knowledge of God. People who have believed for a few years have a shallow knowledge and people who have believed for many years have a deep knowledge. If people have a deep knowledge of God that is quite true and accurate, then they would naturally develop a reverence for God, they would be able to distance themselves from evil, and would be able to attain God’s praise. Isn’t this the case for believing in God? Then what is attaining salvation? It is reaching an understanding of the truth and attaining the knowledge of God in one’s belief. Only by knowing God are people able to submit to God, revere God, and truly worship God. Do you see religious people truly submitting to God? They don’t. Why can’t they truly submit? Because they don’t understand the truth and don’t know God. The Pharisees could expound the Bible, so why did they crucify the Lord Jesus? Because they didn’t know God. When the Lord Jesus came, He was not called Jehovah or Messiah. Therefore, they wouldn’t accept Him. The incarnate God expressed His words, yet they said He was arrogantly claiming to be God and speaking blasphemies. Isn’t this condemning and blaspheming against the incarnate God? After religious people finish reading Almighty God’s words, what do they say? Most of them say: “Ah, this person speaks too arrogantly! He dares to call Himself God, He thinks He is God!” They don’t understand that the incarnate God speaks in the capacity of God and works in the capacity of God. They have forgotten this principle. Isn’t this foolish of them? They think, “Only the God in heaven is able to speak. The God in heaven speaks through thunder and wind, and through blazing fire: That is the way that God speaks. When taking on human flesh, He shouldn’t speak and work in the capacity of God.” Do people who say this have a real knowledge of God? No, they don’t. Religious people are just so foolish: They don’t have the slightest understanding of God’s words, they can’t discern God’s voice, and moreover, they can’t discern the truth. So that’s why they are forsaken and eliminated. There will be some people who will return to God during catastrophes, but they are a small minority. Remember, most people will be destroyed. Do you understand? There will only be a small minority of individuals who will return to God’s presence amid disasters. Remember this! Why will the majority of people be destroyed? Because the majority of people only want to eat their fill. They seek to enjoy God’s grace, but don’t pursue the truth, revere God, or practice God’s words. As a result, they will be eliminated. Do you understand?

What sort of people are the pastors and elders in the religious world? They are hypocritical Pharisees. They believe in God in name, but in actuality, they believe in a vague God in heaven, they regard themselves as God, and they don’t revere God. If they had any reverence for God, they wouldn’t arbitrarily condemn Almighty God, who does the work of judgment in the last days. Almighty God has said so many brilliant things, and you will know it is the voice and work of God once you hear it. Pastors and elders can’t recognize God’s voice; they persistently condemn and resist the truth in a hysterical manner. Aren’t they antichrists? They are antichrists revealed by the work of God in the last days. This is a confirmed fact. Can you distinguish that? Why do they resist Almighty God? Are they pushed, provoked, or deceived by other people, which causing them to resist God? What on earth is the reason for this? It’s because they hate the truth. Almighty God does not hold personal grudges against them, right? As for me, a person used by God, I am the same as you all: We are a part of corrupt mankind. It’s only that I am saved by God. Does Satan hate me for bearing witness to and serving God this way? Currently there is a person—I don’t know whether he is a religious figure or an agent of the great red dragon—who wrote a statement of repentance online and put my name on it. It said I was sent to prison, and after reflecting on myself there, I realized I had sinned, offended God, and had met my retribution. It said that I had repented in prison and wrote a statement of repentance. Some people found it online and told me about it. I found that there are a lot of people who hate me, they hate me to such a degree and use this kind of tactic to slander me. Unbelievable, isn’t it? I pondered this: None of this happened to me, so how could they write a statement of repentance under my name and post it online? I am here now giving sermons, I am quite busy every day, and I have never been to prison. Would you say the devils are good at making up lies? They really are. Why would they scheme this up for me? There is only one explanation for this: They have great hate for me, they hate me so desperately that they adopted this deplorable method and did this to me. Why do they hate me? I don’t know them, I’m not familiar with them, I have never had contact with them, and I have not offended them. So why do they hate me like this? There is only one explanation for this: It is because I’m fulfilling my duty to bear witness to God, to lead God’s chosen people to experience God’s work, to water and provide for God’s people. They hate me and wish I would die! Do you think what kind of person would hate me? People who belong to the devil Satan hate me, the great red dragon hates me, pastors and elders of the religious circles hate me, so, all who hate the truth hate me. I am just a person who serves God, I am a church leader. Before they hate me, who do they hate the most? They mainly hate God, but they can’t take down God, so they take it out on me. Is my explanation correct? They hate me to this degree, but the one they really hate is God, so the religious world has great hatred of Almighty God. Now can you understand? I am a person, and I am also a member of corrupt mankind. It is only that after accepting the work of God, I received salvation. Now with the exceptional exaltation of God, I am able to fulfill some duties. If their hatred for me is so great, then how much hatred do they have for God? Why do they hate God? God doesn’t know them. Neither does God have any contact with them, nor has He offended them. Why do they hate God? What is the root cause of this? They hate the truth; this is the root. They hate God because they hate the truth, they hate me because they hate God; they hate God and have nowhere to vent it, so they take their hatred out on leaders and workers. This is how it is. Now the root cause of this matter has been made clear, hasn’t it?

Some people say, “I have believed in God for many years and no one hates me. People in religious circles don’t hate me, and none of others hates me.” In that case you are a “top-notch good person.” Is it good if no one hates you? It is bad. How could it be bad? Because you have not obtained the truth. If you obtained the truth and were able to fear God and shun evil, bear witness to God, and spread the name of God, then the devils would hate you too, just as they hate me. You see, if an unbeliever offends the devils, they would not necessarily hate him so much. After he takes them to dinner once and apologize, that would be the end of the matter. But as for their hatred of us, would spending money on a dinner be an effective way to resolve it? It wouldn’t work, because this hate comes from deep within them, it comes from deep within their souls. This is true hatred. It is terrible! You see how the great red dragon arrests God’s chosen people and treats them like political criminals. Serious criminals, even murderers, can pay money and go free after being arrested. It is only those who believe in Almighty God, especially those who are leaders and witnesses of God, that are unable to get out after they are arrested. You can’t make a deal under the table or pay their way out, because they are major criminals of the country. Nobody is able to help them. Why is this? Because the great red dragon hates the truth, it has genuine enmity toward us. It doesn’t have that much hate for criminal offenders: They can settle their problems by paying money. This is how it is. Why could the Israelites and their chief priests and scribes crucify the Lord Jesus? When Pilate finally asked them to choose a person to be released, they would rather release a criminal than the Lord Jesus. They wanted so badly to crucify the Lord Jesus. Why is this? Don’t criminals greatly endanger ordinary people? Why did they allow the release of criminals associated with theft, robbery, rape, murder, arson, and other things that physically harm people and crucify the Lord Jesus instead, who expressed the truth and committed no sin? What was the problem? Can you see the root of this issue? Doesn’t this represent mankind’s nature to resist God? The nature to resist God is deeply rooted, it is a genuine hatred toward God and the truth. When these misfortunes befall us, all this becomes obvious. The CCP arrests us believers and treats us this way. If a criminal has committed a great crime, he can bribe them with money and have his sentence commuted or even be released. It is only us who are not permitted to be released; and no amount of money would work. They want to lock us up to die in prison and they want to torture us to death. All this is because they, by their nature, hate the truth. These people have the nature of Satan, they know what it is they hate most and who is their real enemy and they are very clear about it in their minds. See how mankind’s nature to resist God exists to this extent. They hate God and the truth to the point that they absolutely want to crucify God. In the eyes of the rulers who hold power among corrupt mankind, it is not criminals who are scary, it is Christ who expresses the truth who is the most terrifying.

Let us read a passage of God’s words from “It Is Very Important to Understand God’s Disposition” where God said: “There are many things I hope for you to achieve, yet not all of your actions, not everything about your lives, are able to fulfill what I ask, so I have no choice but to come straight to the point and explain to you My will. Given that your discernment is poor and your appreciation is likewise poor, you are almost utterly ignorant of My disposition and substance—and thus it is a matter of urgency that I inform you about them.” How should this passage be understood? It says, “There are many things I hope for you to achieve.” This is one of God’s demands for those who believe in Him, for mankind. What is this demand? It is “[t]here are many things I hope for you to achieve.” It means that God desires us to achieve many aspects, not just one or two aspects. God hopes we achieve many things, so how do we understand this? God has some exceptional demands for us and they are not especially easy; these demands cannot be accomplished without diligence. Why does God have such great demands and hopes for us? There are many things He hopes for us to achieve—this line has so much significance. As corrupt mankind, when we lived on the earth in the past, what things were we able to achieve? Were the things we were able to achieve the things that God demanded? No, they were not. Everything that we did was for our own survival, it was so our bodies could have something to eat, something to wear, and something to enjoy; we were diligent for these things, we suffered hardships and paid the price for these things, we risked our lives and struggled for these things, and it was meaningless. We were no different from the animals; it was all dog-eat-dog for a bit of food. Don’t corrupt people live like this? It doesn’t matter how many books one has read or how educated they are. If you ask: “What does mankind live for?” they would answer: “We live to better our lives, we live to increase our enjoyment of pleasures.” “Then why do you study?” They answer: “It is to live a better life and to enjoy life more than other people. If I didn’t study, then I wouldn’t be able to have a better life, so I must study.” Studying, for them, is for the sole purpose of having a better life. After gaining qualifications, they will get status, they can get a good job, earn more money, and live a prosperous life. For them, this is the purpose of studying. Would you say that these studies have significance? These studies have no significance, because they are only for living better. Is that God’s demand of mankind? No. Then what is God’s actual demand for mankind? It is “[t]here are many things I hope for you to achieve.” How is “many things I hope for you to achieve” interpreted? “[M]any things I hope for you to achieve” includes: First, you must have a normal humanity, you must achieve this; second, you must become an honest person, you have to be honest; third, you have to learn how to submit to God; fourth, you must be able to communicate with God and have genuine interactions with Him; fifth, you must eat and drink the words of God and strive to understand more truths; sixth, it’s best that you come to know God and His disposition; seventh, you should revere God and distance yourselves from evil; eighth, you should have a knowledge of God, and be able to truly submit to God and worship God; ninth, you should be able to spread God’s name and testify of God; tenth, you should be able to rely on God’s words to live and live out a significant life. If so, that would be fine. We spoke simply about ten aspects regarding the “many things” in “[t]here are many things I hope for you to achieve,” but to speak in greater detail, there is more. Regardless of how many aspects there are, God just hopes that we possess a lot of truths and that we should enter into many realities; He hopes that we live out normal humanity and live out significant lives; He hopes that we become humane people who have the truth. This is what God hopes we will achieve, right? So, you now understand this sentence of God’s words “[t]here are many things I hope for you to achieve,” don’t you?

We understand a little and basically know the meaning of the first sentence of God’s words. In the second sentence, God said: “[Y]et not all of your actions, not everything about your lives, are able to fulfill what I ask.” Why did God say this? What actions and lives are unable to meet God’s demands? Reflect on yourselves: How much corruption do you express and how much normal humanity do you live out? How much of true human likeness do you live out? Have you become an honest person? Are you able to truly submit to God? Do you have true interactions with God? Do you worship God? Are you able to testify of God? Are you able to follow God’s words in the way you live? Are you able to accept God’s commission? Are you able to be faithful to God to the end? Are you able to suffer all manner of hardships or suffer any hardships for the truth? If you don’t possess these, you are far from meeting God’s demands. So what can be done about it? If you are not able to meet any of these demands God has for mankind, what is the root cause? Where is the greatest problem? The root cause is that you do not know God. When people do not know God, they are unable to achieve God’s demands regarding these things. Why do people have these shortcomings, insufficiencies, and faults? It’s because they don’t know God. Then why do people not know God after believing in God for so many years? It is because people do not pursue the truth that they do not achieve the things that God demands of them. Some people don’t even scratch the surface. You see how some people believe in God for many years, but they don’t have any semblance of a human being and are just like the unbelievers. They don’t fulfill their duties well and are ultimately removed and eliminated. No one in religious circles cares about that you are only making up the numbers; the pastors and elders will welcome you, and they only care about having a lot of people there. If you make up the number in God’s family, it will not do. God’s family will eliminate you. God’s family isn’t in shortage of believers. Do you think God’s family needs makeweights? Those who don’t preach the gospel according to principles need to be pruned and dealt with. Now the root cause of the issue has been discovered: It is because people don’t pursue the truth, they don’t pursue knowing God, that they don’t achieve the things that God demands them to achieve. What can God do now? God said: “[S]o I have no choice but to come straight to the point and explain to you My will.” God has to speak this way, so God gets straight to the point and directly explains His will to us. This is the original intention of God saying this piece of words. What do you think about the principle of God’s expressing words? They are all practical words and are the truth, and they carry the will of God, right? God does not speak empty words, He does not digress, and He does not speak nonsense. Each line is able to represent God’s disposition, each line is practically spoken to man, and they are all useful words. Each piece of God’s words is worth reading numerous times. You could read God’s words for eternity and never unearth all the truth, wisdom and mysteries within. Is there anyone who could thoroughly explain God’s words? It is impossible to thoroughly explain them. Suppose you explain them from an angle, and everyone agrees that it is good and edifying, but is this able to explain God’s words thoroughly? If you ponder them further, you may think, “It is still not enough. I have to explain them from a different angle,” and everyone may also benefit from what you have fellowshiped. But do you think that this method is complete? Is it able to thoroughly explain God’s intentions? It isn’t. No matter what you may say, it won’t be thorough. The truth in every piece of God’s words is stated very clearly and unequivocally, but in addition to the fact that the truth is a mystery that man can’t measure thoroughly and man could not finish experiencing in a lifetime, the wisdom in every piece of God’s words is so deep and so great, for God’s thoughts and ideas in His articles or words are so high that they are beyond the measure of man. The writings of anyone on the earth are all simple. If you found the best literary scholars and linguists on the earth and looked at their writings, you would see they are simple and ordinary and shallow in comparison to God’s words. There is no comparison! Isn’t this the case? No matter how people speak, it is shallow. No matter how concise, simple, or plain God’s words are, the mysteries therein are extremely deep. Therefore, when you read God’s words, you could read a piece your whole life and not finish it. You could spend eight lifetimes reading it and not read it thoroughly. You should ponder them. His words are inexhaustible in supply and always available, and the mysteries are endless.

How does God explain His intentions below? God said: “Given that your discernment is poor and your appreciation is likewise poor, you are almost utterly ignorant of My disposition and substance—and thus it is a matter of urgency that I inform you about them.” Now that people are almost utterly ignorant of His disposition and substance, God should have told people about them directly—“Because you are almost utterly ignorant of My disposition and substance, I will now inform you of such.” But why did God say “[g]iven that your discernment is poor and your appreciation is likewise poor” before He said “it is a matter of urgency”? There is significance in this and it makes difference. If people were to talk about this issue, we absolutely would not put it this way. Isn’t it the case? However, God put the line “[g]iven that your discernment is poor and your appreciation is likewise poor” in front to pave the way for saying “you are almost utterly ignorant of My disposition and substance.” What does people being almost utterly ignorant of God’s disposition and substance have to do with? It is related to the ability to discern and the ability to appreciate. God put what is relevant to this in the front and clarified it first. Because people’s abilities of discernment and appreciation are poor, the result is that people are almost utterly ignorant of God’s disposition and substance. What can we understand from these two utterances? Why are people almost utterly ignorant of His disposition and substance? It is because their caliber is poor. What aspects are manifested by having poor caliber? The first is that their ability to discern is poor and the second is that their ability to appreciate is poor, and this is why their caliber is poor and they do not have the ability to understand. Isn’t this the case? I asked someone, “Why do you not fulfill your duties well?” “My caliber is poor.” “Why don’t you understand the truth?” “My caliber is poor.” “Why don’t you know God? Why don’t you work well? “My caliber is poor.” Everything is because their caliber is poor. Poor caliber is mainly manifested in the abilities to discern and appreciate. A poor ability to discern means not being able to distinguish various types of situations. A poor ability to appreciate means not understanding something after seeing it, or not being able to see the knack. Because of shortcomings in these two aspects, people are unable to know God. This is what is meant by having poor caliber. We are not talking about those who have believed in God for many years yet don’t pursue the truth at all and belong to the devil Satan. We are talking about the true chosen people of God. Some people strive toward the truth, but when they don’t fulfill their duties properly and are pruned and dealt with, they burn with worry, they get blisters at the mouth, and they can’t sleep sound, but after it’s all over they haven’t progressed much. What is their problem? It is that their caliber is poor. If a person is not fond of the truth at all, he or she is a believer in name to obtain blessings and is an opportunist looking for blessings, they muddle along in God’s family for several years and do not know God at all, then what will be the reason for this? Why don’t they know God? Some people say because they are an opportunist and don’t pursue the truth. Why don’t you say it’s because their caliber is poor? This is completely different than having poor caliber. They do not truly believe. The reason why people truly believe in God for many years and still don’t understand the truth is because their caliber is poor. They just get through their days, and are opportunists seizing an opportunity for blessings. These people are not fond of the truth, they hate the truth. They don’t know God because of this. Do you understand? You can’t blindly apply rules. Here God said: “[A]nd thus it is a matter of urgency that I inform you about them.” How can this sentence be understood? What does this sentence mean? How come God did not say “thus it is a matter of urgency that I inform you how to know Me”? Why didn’t He say “thus it is a matter of urgency that I inform you about My disposition, My substance, what I have and what I am, My wisdom and My omnipotence”? Why didn’t He say this? Can you contemplate this and get the right answer? What is God’s will, why did God say this? There are many aspects to knowing God, and here, God simply points out the most critical aspect of knowing Him, that is, knowing God’s disposition and substance. He doesn’t need to point out all of the other aspects of knowing Him. Once people have a breakthrough regarding these two aspects, they will naturally understand the other aspects through experience over a period of time. Isn’t this the case? Read this sentence again: “[A]nd thus it is a matter of urgency that I inform you about them.” Why did God say this? Why did He say “urgency”? What mystery does this reveal? Knowing God mainly refers to knowing God’s disposition and substance. These are the main two aspects in knowing God. God first pointed out and emphasized the two main aspects in knowing Him, which is why He added the word “urgency.” If you can cross the threshold in these two aspects and enter into reality, you will have a breakthrough in knowing God. Therefore, this phrase was said accurately and provides a path, for us to enter and understand the truth easily and to practice easily. God does not require us to enter into every aspect of knowing Him, but He emphasizes that we should know His disposition and substance. By doing this, does God point out the path to knowing Him? In knowing God, we need to differentiate the urgent aspects first, and God has clearly said which aspects are urgent and which are not urgent and has pointed out which two aspects need to be urgently resolved. This is the path to knowing God. There is mystery in it!

Going back to reading God’s words: “No matter how much you previously understood, regardless of whether you wish to understand these issues, I must still explain them to you in detail.” Why did God say this? It proves that God understands mankind’s attitude. God first spoke about mankind’s attitude toward knowing God, then He would explain this issue clearly and in detail. Is there reason in what God said? Yes, there is exceptional reason and exceptional wisdom. God knows people’s hearts. Therefore, He said, “No matter how much you previously understood….” He had to speak about this issue regardless of how much you understood in the past. You shouldn’t be arrogant and think you understand a lot, because you don’t truly understand. God had to talk about them “regardless of whether you wish to understand these issues.” Regardless of whether or not you are willing or want to understand or listen, God nonetheless said, “I must still explain them to you in detail.” What aspects of God’s disposition can we see from this? This represents God’s disposition, God’s disposition is in this. When you read the word of God, you must diligently ponder this: Why did God say this? All of God’s words contain mysteries and they all contain God’s wisdom and disposition. If you don’t understand or know them in this way, then you won’t be able to know God. It’s impossible to understand God by just meeting Christ once. That won’t do. Knowing God begins with God’s words, and that is the most practical, effective way. Why did God say this? First, God is especially responsible for mankind. He still wants to explain to you in detail out of His love, regardless of what state you are in. Even if you are unwilling to listen or understand, God still wants to tell you. Isn’t this Him taking responsibility? First, He is taking responsibility. Who is able to understand more things? Some people say, “God’s intentions in speaking to mankind are very sincere. For example, God said, ‘I must still explain them to you in detail.’ God speaks this to mankind with a sincere heart.” Right, God’s intentions toward mankind are sincere and God is willing to explain His disposition and His substance to man. And what conditions has He even attached? Regardless whether you are willing to understand or listen, He will still speak. Isn’t this His love for mankind? God is eager for mankind to know Him and understand Him. God is willing to allow people to know Him, and He is willing to let everyone know Him. Regardless of whether or not you want to understand Him, or whether or not you are willing to know God, God is willing to introduce Himself to you and let all mankind hear and understand Him. How does God view mankind? How does He treat mankind? Doesn’t it become apparent from this sentence? God regards and treats mankind as His own children. This sentence is like a father and mother speaking to their children with emotions, “Child, I don’t care whether or not you are able to understand, and I don’t care whether you are willing to listen or not, but I want to say to you, I want to tell you.” This is what it means. These words are like parents speaking to you. Doesn’t it feel like that? All say it does. Why is God so sincere toward mankind, as if He is treating His own children or His own flesh and bones? Isn’t this the disposition of God? Doesn’t this represent God’s love and concern for mankind? Yes, we can see that from this sentence, and we must read it this way. If it was me, I wouldn’t speak like that. I’d say: “Are you willing to listen to my sermon? If you are willing to listen, then I will speak a little. If you are not willing, then I won’t speak to you. You can go and listen to whoever you want.” Is it OK to speak like this? “If you accept my leadership, then I will perform my responsibilities and I will nurture you and provide for you; If you are not willing to accept my leadership, then you are free to do as you wish and there is no need for me to expend effort or trouble myself. I am not willing to do useless work.” I am an average person, and this is my attitude toward this type of matter. Comparing the attitudes of how people treat other people and the attitude of how God treats people, which one is righteous and which one is selfish? Can you distinguish this? Are you able to see this clearly? Don’t normal people all say the things that I just said? Do you see God treat mankind like this? God said: “[R]egardless of whether you wish to understand these issues, I must still explain them to you in detail.” What great patience, what great tolerance, what great concern, what great pity! This is the disposition of God. We don’t have this disposition. Do people have this compassion? We don’t. When you distinguish like this, you will understand it clearly, right?

Let us read on in God’s words: “These issues are not entirely foreign to you, yet you lack much understanding, much familiarity, with the meaning contained within them.” God tactfully said, “[Y]ou lack much understanding.” Don’t you think you understand? But God said you don’t have much understanding, and He didn’t say you don’t understand at all. He is being tactful and gentle. I don’t speak like that, and if it was me, I would say, “Do you truly understand the meaning it contains? Do you understand? I see that you don’t understand at all.” How do my words compare with what God said? Are God’s words good or are my words good? Which are more objective and more compassionate? God’s words are. This is the difference between God and man. Can you distinguish it now? “… you lack much understanding, much familiarity…. Many of you have only some dim understanding, and a partial and incomplete one at that.” What can we see from these words? “Many of you have only some dim understanding.” “Many of you” here does not mean everyone; there are some people who don’t even have a dim understanding, right? “Many of you” means that there are not few. It doesn’t say everyone nor does it say a few people, it says “[m]any of you.” So what can we see from God’s wording? God speaks objectively and accurately, not roughly and sloppily, nor does He speak vaguely and generally, isn’t that right? He is so objective and accurate! What if it were the words of a person? It’d be like, “Most people know a little, they know some things, and at best they have a superficial knowledge or they don’t know anything and are arrogant.” People would talk like this. Compare that with God’s words. Where is the difference? Is it God’s words that are objective and accurate, or is it human speech that is objective and accurate? God’s words are objective and accurate, and human speech is very subjective, vague, harsh, and hard to accept. It is God’s words that are good.

Below, God says, “To help you to better practice the truth—to better practice My words—I think these are the issues you must be aware of first and foremost.” These words are spoken accurately, so accurately! God first clearly and unequivocally spoke about the outcome and purpose to be attained. God said, “I think these are the issues you must be aware of first and foremost.” Why did God say “I think” here? How could God not be so firm when speaking? Why didn’t God say, “In order to help you better practice the truth, that is, to better put My words into practice, it is this issue that you must first come to know”? This is how I would speak as a person, but God added, “I think.” “I think these are the issues you must be aware of first and foremost.” You see, the tone is different. What does the different tone represent? It represents God’s disposition. When God speaks it represents His disposition, and when people speak, it represents man’s disposition and quality. What aspects of God’s disposition are represented here? God doesn’t speak subjectively, but rather objectively and tactfully. “I think” expresses how He thinks, the way He speaks, what outcome He intends to achieve, what things people should possess, as well as the gentleness, consideration, love and care in His wording. Isn’t that right? God said, “I think” because this is what God thinks in His heart. So why did God say that here? Does God first think and then speak based on His views, just like mankind? Does God think before speaking? Does God’s Spirit use the words “I think” when speaking? No. Then why does God use these words now? “Are these really God’s words? If God has to think about things just like people, then evidently He is a person!” Some people think like this. Then why did God say this? Because when God came incarnate, He thinks like people, He proclaims His voice through normal humanity, and therefore He added the words “I think.” If He hadn’t taken on human flesh, and if He proclaimed His voice as the Spirit of God, then perhaps He wouldn’t have said “I think.” Right? Wouldn’t it be easy for people who don’t understand the spiritual things and who easily have notions to develop notions when reading this? Wouldn’t it be easy for them to doubt God’s words? “God has to think when He speaks? God is truth, God’s Spirit is omnipotent and omniscient, and He doesn’t need to think.” This is troublesome, for they develop notions. “I think these are the issues you must be aware of first and foremost” was said by the incarnate God. He was speaking through humanity and was using the language of humanity to speak, so that people can easily comprehend and understand.

Below, God said, “If not, your faith will remain vague, hypocritical, and filled with the trappings of religion.” There is inner meaning to this sentence. Can you figure it out? What is the premise followed by “[i]f not”? The premise is “these are the issues you must be aware of first and foremost.” What do these words mean? To put it plainly, “If you believe in God, then you must first come to know God’s disposition and substance. If you believe in God but don’t pursue knowing God’s disposition and substance, then your faith is vague, hypocritical, and filled with the trappings of religion.” Isn’t this what it means? This makes me think of the religions. So how do religious people believe in God? Faith, as practiced in religions, does not emphasize knowing God, and moreover it does not emphasize experiencing God’s words and putting God’s words into practice or putting truth into practice. They pay attention to working, spreading the gospel, and preaching. They always want to work for the Lord, expend themselves for the Lord, preach the Lord, bear witness for the Lord, labor for the Lord, and even go to prison for the Lord, so that they can then finally receive their reward and enter into the kingdom of heaven. They value doing things, but they don’t pursue the truth. Isn’t this the case? Then, God said, “If not, your faith will remain vague, hypocritical, and filled with the trappings of religion.” What does “the trappings of religion” mean? It is focusing on doing things. Religious people think, “We are able to do this and that for the Lord, we are able to suffer for the Lord, and we are able to do whatever for the Lord.” In God’s eyes, this is not pursuing truth, it is not fulfilling their duties in faith in God, but rather it has the taste of religion, it is religious practice, religious conduct, and religious expression. Isn’t this the case? Martha and Mary were by Jesus’ side. Which did the Lord praise, Martha or Mary? He praised Mary. Why did He praise Mary? Because she loved to listen to the Lord’s words and ponder them, she had great interest in the Lord’s words and she immediately nodded her head, ponder the Lord’s words and His intentions when she heard the Lord speaking. The Lord was most fond of those who carefully listened to His words. What about Martha? She loved to be busy: “Ah, the Lord has come, so I must hurry and receive Him; hurry and lay out the red carpet; hurry and clean the house and put on my nice clothing to welcome the Lord. I must hurry!” She was always doing these things and was so busy! The Lord Jesus was not fond of her. Did the Lord care if your clothes were neat or not? Did He care if your house was clean or if you had laid out the red carpet for Him? These things are insignificant. The Lord came to speak to you, to teach you about His will so that you could put the truth into practice, and to teach you how to be a person. The Lord was not interested in outward things. Isn’t this the case? If you believe in God but don’t pursue understanding the truth, don’t pay attention to knowing God’s disposition or understanding His substance, then how will God view this kind of faith? What will God say? This kind of belief in God is vague and hypocritical; it is filled with the trappings of religion. If this sort of faith is vague, hypocritical and filled with the trappings of religion, then does God praise it? No. What does it mean if God doesn’t praise it? Can this kind of faith achieve anything? Can it cause your dreams to come true? This kind of faith will be vain and nothing can be obtained by it. Ultimately, all with such faith will be eliminated. At the beginning of the meeting, I asked why most people in religions will be eliminated and destroyed. Have you found the root cause of this issue? Why is it? They don’t pursue knowing God, they don’t practice and experience the Lord’s words and don’t pay attention to understanding the truth. They merely focus on blindly doing things, they rely on enthusiasm to do things, and they become service-doers after having done much. Ultimately they will be eliminated. This is how it is.

God said, “If you do not understand the disposition of God, then it will be impossible for you to do the work you should do for Him. If you do not know the substance of God, then it will be impossible for you to have reverence and fear toward Him.” These two sentences are very important. What these two sentences express directly is the truth. It is stated very straightforwardly. “If you do not understand the disposition of God, then it will be impossible for you to do the work you should do for Him.” How should this sentence be explained? If you do not understand God’s disposition, will you know what things you should do and what things you shouldn’t do? You won’t know. If you don’t know and do things blindly, what will be the outcome? You will offend God’s disposition. Therefore, if you don’t understand God’s disposition then don’t do things recklessly. Be well-behaved and steady. Don’t be reckless. Because if you don’t understand God’s disposition, it is easy for your actions to offend God’s disposition. Your actions will not only not please God but you might even be punished for them. Isn’t that so? After the communication, we now understand the meaning of God’s words, “If you do not understand the disposition of God, then it will be impossible for you to do the work you should do for Him.” That is, if you don’t understand God’s disposition, but want to do work for God, you won’t know what work to do for Him. What work you should do, what duties you should fulfill, what you are capable of, what you should not do, what you are not capable of—are you clear about all of these things? You can’t be clear, isn’t that the case? Let us give an example: Some people say, “I have now believed in God for three or four years. I have heard so much preaching now that I also know how to give sermons. I can speak with ease about spiritual doctrines and theories for hours non-stop. So can I be a leader now? Can I feed and shepherd God’s chosen people now?” Do you think they can? You all say no. Why not? Shouldn’t they be leaders if they’re excellent at speaking letters and doctrines, can indulge in verbiage and can even spout eloquent speeches? They ask: “Isn’t that how you communicate as a leader? If you can be a leader, then why can’t I? Why can’t I do it?” They don’t understand that God most despises people who indulge in verbiage and empty theories, without the reality of the truth. So, if you don’t understand God’s disposition, you won’t be clear on what work you should do, what work you shouldn’t do, what you should be doing, or what you shouldn’t be doing. If you act recklessly without being clear on these things, then there can only be one outcome: You will surely offend God’s disposition and be punished. False leaders and antichrists will fight to be leaders. “The more the house of God condemns me and says that I am a false leader (or an antichrist), and that my type of person cannot be a leader, the more I want to be a leader and the more I want to control and dominate some of God’s chosen people. I’m going to preach to them and see if they listen to me. If they all listen to me, then what gives you the right to say I can’t be a leader? What gives you the right to condemn me as a false leader (or an antichrist)?” Some people are recalcitrant when the house of God deems them as an antichrist, so what do they say? “Ask these chosen people of God I lead if they’d like to accept my leadership or the leadership of those false leaders. Ask these people if I have reality of the truth or not, if I have the work of the Holy Spirit or not.” What kind of statement is this? Is it reasonable? No, it’s not reasonable. Is there any basis for the house of God to deem you as a false leader or antichrist? It must surely be based on assessments of you from people who understand the truth. Why do those who understand the truth deem that you are antichrists or false leaders? These people have a basis for doing so. It is not someone trying to frame you; it’s been assessed and determined by a sizeable group of experienced people. So could this be wrong? Do you understand God’s disposition or not? Do you know if God likes you? All you can do is say a few stupid things—what reality of the truth do you have? Where did you learn them? Do they represent your reality? Who are you trying to deceive? What if I dissect it for you word by word? If I dissect it I’m afraid you’d run off and hide. People who don’t understand God’s disposition will dare to act wildly, thinking that they are capable. Just because you are educated and eloquent and have some caliber, it doesn’t mean you understand God’s disposition. If you can, explain to me in detail what God’s disposition is. Tell me if God likes people like you or not. You say you have the work of the Holy Spirit, but who gave you verification of this? This is shaming God. To put it in a serious way, you are blaspheming the Holy Spirit. How dare you say you have the work of the Holy Spirit? How shameless! Can God’s chosen people give you verification? Try and find some people who understand the truth to give you verification. Do you know what kind of people the Holy Spirit enlightens? You are absurd, arrogant, and yet you think the Holy Spirit will enlighten you. Being disciplined and exposed by the Holy Spirit is more like it. Enlightening you, guiding you and using you is absolutely impossible! If you say things like that, then you are blaspheming the Holy Spirit. You don’t have the fear of God in your hearts and even dare to talk such things. If you’ve had some practical experiences, tell everyone about them. You are smart and know how to talk, but that doesn’t mean you understand God’s disposition. So what do you know about God’s disposition? Do you dare to talk about it in detail? False leaders and antichrists don’t understand God’s disposition. All they want is to be leaders and control God’s chosen people. Isn’t this courting death? This is courting death! There are just some people I can’t be bothered with. I’m doing serious business. I don’t want to bother with them. It’s best if these people have some self-awareness.

Back in the time of the trial of the service-doers, I was a leader testified by the Holy Spirit. When God appeared in the flesh I did not recognize Him, and I also did some resisting and judging, saying that God’s word was the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, the utterances of the sevenfold intensified Spirit. I was blind at the time and did not recognize God in the flesh, thinking it was the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit and the utterances of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, during that period all the materials printed by the church were entitled like “Utterances of the Holy Spirit” and “The Words of the Holy Spirit to the Churches,” and I denied that it was the word of God in the flesh. Why did I do that? Wasn’t I blind? I didn’t recognize God! Later, after God completed revealing truths concerning incarnation, I was still puzzled. Back then, I was suffering greatly just from enduring judgment and chastisement. It was not until in 1992, when God’s utterances were finished, that I woke up and understood: Oh! This is God in the flesh. I didn’t recognize Him before, and all I did was blindly judge and resist. I endured quite a bit of suffering that year, in torment every day and unable to face people. At the time, many brothers and sisters often saw me. I was probably very pale when they saw me. What was I thinking of at the time? I was thinking: “I am blind and didn’t recognize God. I deserve death. I can’t serve God. I am not worthy of serving God. I am not qualified to serve Him. I should be subject to God’s orchestrations and arrangements!” That’s what I thought. Would a normal person who has completed being judged and chastised think this way? “I will absolutely obey God’s orchestrations and arrangements, submissively listen and obey—that is my duty. I shouldn’t be a leader any more. I can’t be a leader. What happened during this period I was a leader? Did I recognize God? I did not recognize God at all.” At that time, I had this realization, so I secretly made up my mind: In future, if God testifies to me or uses me, I must exercise some reason and not be insolent. I have a corrupt disposition. If God lets me do something, then all I need is to do the work properly and in a low-key manner, without revealing myself. If I keep revealing myself, then there will come a day when I will be unable to give account to God, and I’ll be ashamed and utterly embarrassed. That’s what I thought at the time. This is how I benefited from the trial of the service-doers. I became a little bit sensible and low-key. Just that bit of change. Is it a thorough change? No. Dispositional change is not something that takes just a few days. Isn’t that right? The trial of the service-doers shaped me into a submissive person; I’d learned my lesson. There are now still people who have believed in God for more than 10 years but are still fighting to be leaders, still always trying to dominate and control some people. They are still there bragging, “Our group of people includes all types of talented ones. Even those who perform duties in the pastoral area don’t include so many talented ones. Which leader can lead like I do? None of them are as good as me. Only I can lead you into the kingdom.” Isn’t this bragging? I don’t dare to brag like this. Why? I have preached so much, but how many people has it really had some effect on? Perhaps it has had some effect on people who pursue the truth, but there appears to have been no effect on the majority of people. Who dares to boast that they can take God’s chosen people into the kingdom? Whoever spews this lie is an antichrist. If the Holy Spirit doesn’t work then what people say or do means nothing. Isn’t that right? I believe that I am, first of all, not an intellectual, and secondly not from a famous family. God raises up the needy from the dung-heap. I am someone uplifted by God as an exception, raised up by God from the dung-heap, and not worthy to serve God. That’s the way I see things now. If you have believed in God for 10 or 20 years and still brag, then it’s clear that your disposition has not changed, and that’s a problem. You still think you can be leaders and can’t accept it when you have been deemed false leaders or antichrists. Why can’t you accept it? Can you obey God’s orchestrations and arrangements? Why can’t you obey what God’s family arranges and determines for you? Aren’t you indeed false leaders or antichrists? Your nature has not changed. If you have truly changed then why don’t you have remorse? Why don’t you know yourselves? If I dissect those ridiculous remarks, ridiculous sermons from your mouths, you’ll find they have no practical value at all. That’s how pitiable you are if you don’t understand God’s disposition, right?

God said, “If you do not understand the disposition of God, then it will be impossible for you to do the work you should do for Him.” What result can someone achieve from understanding God’s disposition? They will know their own worth, what duties they are suitable for, in which aspects they have the guidance of the Holy Spirit, what kind of duties and work is appropriate for them. All of these things will be clear. That way, they won’t overstep boundaries and won’t do things irrationally and blindly. Such a person can thus truly obey God’s orchestrations and arrangements, and be able to fulfill their duty normally and up to standard. Therefore, to fulfill one’s duty to the right standard requires understanding of God’s disposition, knowing what God likes and loathes, knowing what kind of person they are, and what they are suited to do. God said, “If you do not understand the disposition of God, then it will be impossible for you to do the work you should do for Him.” To do the work you should do requires sense. Without sense, will you know what you should do and what you should not do? An unreasonable person will think they can do anything: “If you can do it then I can do it.” Some people always want to be the big leader: “Being a church leader is not good enough. Look at these other big leaders—regional leaders, pastoral leaders. If you can be a pastoral leader then why can’t I? You can be a regional leader but I can’t? I’m not younger than you, my appearance is no worse than yours, and I’m not shorter than you either. So why can’t I do it?” Isn’t such a person very troublesome? They have not changed whatsoever and don’t understand God. God said, “If you do not know the substance of God, then it will be impossible for you to have reverence and fear toward Him.” I used to often say that we need to be a person who reveres and fears God. How do we achieve this? What did God say here? “If you do not know the substance of God, then it will be impossible for you to have reverence and fear toward Him.” How is reverence and fear developed? It is achieved mainly through understanding God’s essence. If you do not understand God’s essence, you cannot develop reverence and fear. You won’t be able to do it. Reverence and fear is not made up or created by man, and it is moreover not feigned. It’s a natural revelation from the inside. If what is revealed is reverence and fear, then you have a heart that reveres and fears God. If it is not your natural revelation, then you are just pretending. You may have disguised yourself and deceived people for now, but God observes people’s hearts. You can trick people but you cannot trick God. Furthermore, you can pretend today and tomorrow, but you cannot pretend forever. You will eventually be exposed one day. Your trouble, when you are exposed, will be even bigger, because the disposition inside you is one of arrogance and resistance toward God. Perhaps one day it will all be made obvious. If you want to be a person who fears God and shuns evil, then you only have one path. What path? Understanding God’s essence.

If someone has no understanding of God’s essence whatsoever, they cannot possibly be a person who fears God. If they are not a God-fearing person, and they have no reverence and fear toward God, then what kind of things will they do? “[I]nstead, there will be only heedless perfunctoriness and prevarication, and moreover, incorrigible blasphemy.” They will perform their duty with heedless perfunctoriness and prevarication, which is serious in nature. “[I]ncorrigible blasphemy” means that once someone gets to the point of blaspheming God and dares to talk nonsense about God, they have become incorrigible. You see how antichrists and false leaders clearly don’t have the work of the Holy Spirit, but they still copy other people’s speech, talk nonsense and claim that they have the work of the Holy Spirit. Isn’t this intentionally humiliating God? Isn’t this blaspheming God? Would God work on you, such arrogant and unreasonable people? Do you really have remorse? If so, show proof of your genuine remorse through dissecting your expressions of not fearing God and arrogant disposition one after another for God’s chosen people to discern whether you have any understanding or not. You have absolutely no understanding of these things, and yet you say you have the work of the Holy Spirit and still shamelessly boast of being a person used by the Holy Spirit. This is blaspheming God and is a disastrous thing! Who dares to boast of being a person used by the Holy Spirit? Who dares to sing their own praises in this way? Isn’t this the same as claiming to be Christ in essence? Yes, it is. If people don’t understand God’s disposition and essence, is it easy for them to resist God? Yes, it’s all too easy!

Of those people who don’t pursue the truth and are gifted, educated, eloquent, decent-looking or knowledgeable, how many are not arrogant? They’re all arrogant and conceited. They’re not convinced by anyone and they find it very difficult to accept and obey God’s words of judgment and work that doesn’t conform to human notions. Most of them have now really changed somewhat after years of experience. When I prune and deal with them, they are obedient and stop opposing it. Isn’t this change? This is not a small change! No more opposing, and they can be dealt with in any way: “Even if you treat us like pigs and dogs and scold us, we will obey. We are not worthy of being called human. We can be treated in any way.” Isn’t this the good result achieved by God’s judgment and chastisement? After experiencing God’s work, those who pursue the truth achieve true obedience to God and do not give excuses or lay conditions any more. “Whatever you say is fine. If you say it nicely and tactfully, we will obey; if you don’t say it nicely and it cuts to our hearts, we will still obey. Even if you beat us, scold us, or treat us like pigs or dogs, we will still obey.” Which passage in the Bible does this fulfill? When the Canaanite woman pleaded with the Lord Jesus to heal her daughter, what did the Lord say? The Lord said that it was not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs. That is, unbelievers of God were looked upon as dogs, unworthy of enjoying God’s grace. What did the woman with faith in the Lord say? She said that they were dogs, but even dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table. How did the Lord Jesus commend her? The Lord said to her, “O woman, great is your faith: be it to you even as you will” (Mat 15:28). Can one have an understanding of God’s disposition and essence without true faith? If you truly treat God as God, then no matter how God treats you, you can’t consider it excessive. God can call you a pig, a dog, an animal, a demon, a descendant of Satan—this is all practical and is not to insult you. Only those who don’t accept the truth will have conceptions; those who love the truth will say: “God does not say anything insulting. All words uttered by God are the truth and facts, and they always reveal reality!” Then why can’t the antichrists and false leaders accept God’s words? Why don’t they understand themselves? It’s because they don’t love the truth. God expresses truths, but people do not treat these truths as truths, so they are unable to obey God’s judgment and chastisement. In the end, their satanic disposition does not change at all. Whatever notions and resistance they had toward God in the past are still there, even after believing in God for many years. Are such people the objects of God’s salvation? It is over for such people. Therefore, those who believe in God for many years but do not pursue the truth at all and cause disturbance and interruption instead are incorrigible and should be expelled immediately. Those who have just believed for three to five years can be given a chance because they haven’t heard that much preaching and don’t understand any truth. Those who have believed in God for many years but still cause disturbance and interruption should be dealt with seriously and directly expelled or dismissed. The house of God does not need such people to make up the numbers. Even if they don’t leave the church, when the great disaster descends, those who ought to die shall die—those who don’t possess the truth should be destroyed.

Let’s read God’s words next: “Although understanding God’s disposition is indeed important, and knowing God’s substance cannot be overlooked….” What is the message conveyed by these two remarks? There are two most crucial things in knowing God. The first is to understand God’s disposition, and the second is to know God’s essence. If you can achieve these two requirements of God, then you are a person who knows God, a person perfected by God. Some ask how they can get started in knowing God’s disposition and God’s essence. I have to briefly speak about it here. The key to understanding God’s disposition is to first understand God’s pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness. The four main aspects of God’s disposition are His pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness. These are all involved in His disposition. In the past, people said: “Isn’t knowing God’s disposition mainly about knowing what God hates, what God likes, which people God eliminates, and which people God blesses? Isn’t that all it is referring to?” Is this view correct? Some say it’s incorrect. Why is it incorrect? What God hates, what God likes, which people God blesses, which people God eliminates—are these included in God’s pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness? God’s pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness covers quite a large scope. If you only comprehend this part—only know that God likes honest people, that God perfects people who pursue the truth and eliminates people who don’t love the truth, and that God hates and curses deceitful people—does that count as knowing God’s disposition? No, it doesn’t. Why do I say it doesn’t count? Some say it’s too one-sided. Yes, because these things are included in God’s pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness. They are specific facts and details relating to God’s pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness. Moreover, you have to pay attention to understanding the symbolic meaning of God’s pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness. Only when you clearly understand their symbolic meaning are you counted as having accurate knowledge of God’s disposition. You all get it, right?

God’s words state, “[A]nd knowing God’s substance cannot be overlooked.” What is the knowledge of God’s substance referring to? As we all know, substance is the essence of a thing. It refers to its linchpin, its core, and refers to its most fundamental nature. All of these mean substance. A lot of people have an understanding of many of what God reveals, but not when it comes to God’s substance. Some make a list of a lot of phenomena and then, in the end, summarize them and determine the essence based on these phenomena: That’s the substance of the issue. Right? Let’s give an example: When discussing knowledge of God’s disposition, some people say: “God’s disposition is compassion and love! Compassion plus love.” Some people say: “God’s disposition is mercy!” That’s why when they pray, it’s always: “Merciful heavenly Father, loving Lord Jesus!” What do other people say about God’s substance? “God’s substance is love. God’s substance is mercy and love!” How is His mercy and love explained? “Once He lost one out of a hundred sheep, He will abandon the other ninety-nine just to find that missing one. To pay such a huge price for that one lost sheep, that is love.” “Then could this mankind be destroyed in the future?” “No. Look at this love of God. Could He destroy mankind? All mankind is lost. He must find them! Even if He has to search the whole world, He must find them—that is God’s disposition. Therefore, mankind certainly could not be destroyed! According to God’s substance, He is love for man! Not one will be cast aside, one hundred percent of them won’t be cast aside. All shall be saved.” The majority of religious people hold this view and that is what they know of God’s substance. Tell me, are they correct? You all say no. Then, do religious people have knowledge of God’s substance? No, they don’t. They don’t know the substance of God and it is wrong to make assertions and have an arbitrary view of God’s substance just from looking at some happenings and phenomena.

What exactly does God’s substance refer to? How should we know God’s substance? We see that in God’s work of saving mankind He has expressed much of His disposition. Based on the performance and revelation of different aspects of God’s disposition, we can finally sum up God’s essence. Then what kind of substance is the substance of God? Can it be explained clearly in just one sentence? Can it be summarized in a single word? It cannot. Then how can God’s substance be known? Through the salvation work God performs on man, we can be certain that God loves man. All the work God performs grows out of love. His leadership in the Age of Law was because of love; the redemption in the Age of Grace was because of love; and the judgment, purification and perfection in the last days is moreover because of love. It’s all because He loves mankind that He performs so much work on us. So the substance of God’s attitude toward mankind is love. Is this summary okay? I’m talking about the substance of God’s attitude toward mankind, not the substance of God’s disposition, right? The substance of His attitude toward mankind is love, that is true. This is a tenable claim. Then what is the substance of God’s disposition? How can we know this? Is it mercy and love, or righteousness? The religious people in the Age of Grace say that the substance of God’s disposition is mercy and love. Wrong. It is primarily righteousness, not mercy and love. There is mercy and love in His righteousness, but His disposition is not primarily mercy and love. It is primarily righteousness. Do you all understand? This is the substance of God’s disposition. So what about the substance of God’s life? Actually, the substance of God’s life can accurately be said to be holiness. God hates sin and God has no sin. Satan cannot corrupt God because God is so omnipotent. God is the truth, and Satan cannot come near Him. The substance of God’s life is holy, good, and loving. The substance of God’s disposition is primarily righteousness, and in His righteousness there is mercy and love. But His disposition is primarily righteousness, not mercy and love. God’s substance contains different aspects, and you must grasp the substantial part. No matter what you are trying to know, you have to grasp the key parts, the essential parts. If you only list some superficial phenomena, you won’t be able to draw an accurate conclusion, and so you won’t achieve understanding of the substance of any issue, right? For example, you know a person and understand him very well. Then what would you say about his substance? You might say: “I have been around him a lot. He likes to curse, so cursing is his substance.” Does this count as an understanding? No, it doesn’t. When it comes to the substance of that person’s humanity, cursing is only a small aspect. Ultimately, is he kind-hearted or is he evil? Some people have the substance of a thief, a thief who likes to steal—they are a thief in substance. Some people have a substance that likes to gamble, to lay a wager. Some people have an evil and dissolute substance: They don’t feel at ease if you ask them to do something else, and if they move away from dissolution, they won’t be interested in other things—that’s a dissolute substance. Some are quite honest, always speak the truth and don’t lie, as lying makes them feel uneasy inside—such a person is quite honest and his substance is honesty. Some people are especially deceitful: Everything they say carries ulterior motives and every word out of their mouth is a lie. They never open up their heart to others, so the substance of such a person is deceit. That is how to understand a person’s substance. If you can’t see through a person’s substance, can only see through and understand his many behaviors, does it count as truly understanding this person? It doesn’t. Why doesn’t it count? You understand a lot of his behaviors and you’ve seen the way he handles his affairs, but if you haven’t seen through his substance, then you don’t have true understanding of this person. All you can tell is some feeling about him, and all you can see is some of his behaviors, but you have not yet risen to the level of understanding his substance. So, even though you might have been around someone for a long time and have seen some of his behaviors, if you still can’t see through this person’s substance, then you cannot say you truly understand him, right? I have interacted with some people and have seen some superficial things about them. However, I still can’t fully figure out their substance and haven’t seen through what kind of things they can do. So I say that I haven’t seen through this person yet, and I only understand them a little bit from their behavior that I see. Saying it like that is more objective, right? Some leaders promoted someone to a certain position; after his promotion, they arranged his work, and then abdicated all their responsibility for him, neither asking him about the work nor caring about it. I said: “Do you understand this person? Can you see through him?” They answered, “No.” I kept asking, “Then, why did you promote him?” They said: “It seems to me that his performance is quite good and he has some caliber.” “Then just what kind of a person is he? Is he a person who pursues the truth?” “I haven’t seen through him so I can’t be sure yet.” “If you can’t be sure, then why did you arrange work for him and then not supervise, observe, and try to understand him? You just washed your hands of his work.” Isn’t that being irresponsible? You don’t understand him and you have merely discovered that he has some caliber, so you should observe and supervise him. What if he starts doing evil things after working for a period of time? If you let him do as he likes, as if you especially trust him and really understand him, then that’s being irresponsible. Since you admit you cannot see through him, you should watch him for a period of time. You should think: “I will observe you, in case I used the wrong person because I didn’t see you through. You might be an irresponsible person and mess up the work of God’s house, which can bring harm to God’s chosen people. I’ll observe you for six months to a year. If I find out that you seem fine, you have fear for God, you can seek the truth in everything, you are not too arrogant, you can communicate with other people, and can ask other people’s advice, and whoever says right, you can accept their opinions, then I can rest assured. I’ve been certain that you’re a person who pursues the truth.” At this point, to this extent, you can relax your supervision. If you don’t supervise and observe that person like this but let him do as he likes, then aren’t you harming God’s chosen people? This is being irresponsible toward the work of the house of God, proving that you don’t have a heart that fears God.

Is it easy to understand a person? It’s not. Then what about knowing God’s substance? That’s even more difficult! So, we all must put in some effort. Can anyone gain the truth without communicating the truth, listening to preaching, or diligently contemplating God’s words? Suppose someone asks you: “What is the substance of God’s disposition?” “Mercy and love,” you say. Is it okay to blindly apply rules and talk nonsense? They can tell right away that you don’t know God. Suppose you have been around a person for several years, and someone asks you: “What is this person like?” But when you open your mouth, you find you are tongue-tied and can’t explain properly. You have spent two or three years coordinating with that person, but you’re still unable to see through him. What about the caliber of such people like you? Aren’t you a bit dumb? At the very least, you are not very sagacious. As a leader, someone has been in contact with a person for two or three years, but doesn’t understand him and can’t see through him—such a person doesn’t have the right caliber. You can see that there are also those who worship people. They say things like: “Oh, these unbelievers are good people!” “This president is not bad!” “This celebrity is not bad!” “This actor or that star is really worthy of being worshiped!” What are these people? They blindly worship whoever and have no knowledge of the truth whatsoever. What muddled people they are! Some people secretly like a celebrity and miss him so much that they become ill and can’t eat or sleep. What kind of a person is this? A muddled person. Muddled to the extreme! The world is treacherous, because mankind is treacherous. You should all understand this. How many good people are there in the world? Among those who believe in God, only those perfected by God are good people and only those who pursue the truth are good people. The rest of them aren’t necessarily bad people, but without the truth they will never be that good either. They are still able to worship people, be deceived by Satan, and betray God. Isn’t that the case? If a person can blindly worship others, can be easily deceived by others, and can willfully uphold and follow them, then even if such a person is a well-behaved person who doesn’t do anything evil apparently, is he still a fool? He is a fool, and cannot be said to be good or a good person. He can only be said to be a muddled person. This person may never do evil, but as soon as Satan deceives him, he will worship it; as soon as demons deceive him, he will follow them. Is this a good person? When demons are resisting God, he follows them in resisting God. When Satan is judging God, he follows it in judging God. Is that a good person? With a not bad humanity, a person is quite honest, and he doesn’t do bad things, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink, and doesn’t play mahjong. But does this count as being a good person? None of it counts. Not doing things that violate worldly laws doesn’t mean he is a good person. If he can resist God, at the very least, he is a fool. From a more serious point of view, he is wicked, a demon. Look at these unbelievers you come into contact with. At first glance, they might look like any decent people. They seem quite good when you are talking with them about the outside world and secular things. They speak quite gently, are kind to you, and understand courtesy. They don’t hurt you and they respect you. All good so far. But as soon as you mention God and speak of the truth, their eyes will redden and they’ll look so surly. What is happening here? How come their eyes turn red as soon as the truth and God are mentioned? How come their disposition changes right away? What is the problem? It is their demonic substance being exposed. They are good people on the outside but demons on the inside. “A gentleman on the outside but a villain on the inside” is how people would describe them. Their demonic substance has been exposed. Many among corrupt mankind look like good people on the outside, but their substance is actually all-demonic. Some of them are non-human. Why are they called non-human? Non-human means not human, and if they are not human then how did they become flesh? They’re the reincarnation of evil spirits, filthy demons, and all kinds of beasts and animals. This is all true. All those without human spirits appear to be flesh on the outside, but they belong to this category of non-humans. Some people even say that they are aliens reborn. All of them are non-humans. Some of these non-humans are the reincarnations of horses, bulls, or other animals. If you don’t believe, once they are brought back to their original forms, you will see they are inherently horses, bulls, dogs, pigs, and so forth. Look at how all pigs do is sleeping when they’re full from eating and drinking, enjoying themselves even lying in the mud. Someone has the spirit of a pig, so his substance is a pig. Someone has the substance of a dog, someone has the substance of a bull, someone has the substance of a horse, and someone has the substance of an evil spirit or a filthy demon. Filthy demons don’t judge God and they also don’t understand the truth. All they think about are filthy things. Such is a filthy demon. How is the substance of various kinds of people determined? It is determined according to what spirit they reincarnated from. Whatever spirit they reincarnated from, that determines the disposition they possess, and that is how their substance is determined. That is why we see in God’s words that some demons reincarnated, some Pharisees’ spirits moved to the country of the great red dragon with God’s work, and that some angels descended down to earth and reincarnated as humans. As for Christ, He is God incarnate. Many people don’t accept God or acknowledge Him. These people are the reincarnations of non-humans, livestock, and all kinds of other animals. What confirms that is their substance? Their nature confirms. Then what is their nature based on? Based on their spirit, the reincarnated spirit. That represents their substance. Mankind has mankind’s substance, God has God’s substance, and Satan has Satan’s substance. So are you now clear on how to know God’s substance? This topic is deep. It’s not something I can explain entirely. All I can do is to stay in line with God’s guidance, explain a bit as I understand a bit, explain today what I understand today. When I have a bit more enlightenment and new insights tomorrow, then I can communicate these new insights. Then over the days and months, we will gradually gain knowledge of God. Regarding knowledge of God’s substance, I have given some examples and told you about how to identify people’s substance, so that we can have a way to know God’s substance. That will be helpful and beneficial to understanding the truth and knowing God, right?

Let’s continue reading God’s words: “[N]o one has ever thoroughly examined or delved into these issues.” What does this line convey and what does it reveal? It means understanding God’s disposition and knowing His substance is not an easy thing. It is not an outcome that can be achieved through muddleheadedly experiencing God’s work, muddleheadedly fulfilling one’s duty, or muddleheadedly believing in God for a certain number of years. Here, God mentioned “thoroughly examined or delved into,” which means that we won’t be able to reach an understanding of God’s disposition and knowledge of God’s substance if we don’t put in some effort to studying it seriously and intensively. So is there a difference between “thoroughly examined or delved into” and being muddleheaded? What is “thoroughly examined”? What is “delved into”? It is treating something as a very important matter and putting great effort into studying it. When we speak of delving, it brings to mind studying for a doctorate, or a master’s degree, conducting a scientific research, or carrying out an experiment. They all involve focusing all one’s energy on a subject, which means to specialize in studying it. This is called delving. It refers to the attitude of engaging in research or in learning. Isn’t that right? Now, when we believe in God and experience God’s work, most of the time we just read God’s words and ponder a little about them. Sometimes we sum up our experiences and lessons from fulfilling our duty. We communicate some knowledge of ourselves when we reveal our own corruption, and self-reflect a little when we commit mistakes. Can experiencing God’s work in this way achieve understanding of God’s disposition and knowledge of God’s substance? No. Why not? Because we have not put in the effort to understand the truth of a major mystery like God’s disposition and God’s substance. If we don’t put in the effort we cannot achieve the results. How long do scientists need to reach a solution or conclusion on a particular issue? Is there a fixed time? Some issues are resolved in six months to a year, while some don’t get concluded even after 8 to 10 years, or even decades. If they’ve put in so much effort, and so many people or teams have engaged in researching it, but are unable to reap fruits, then it must not be a simple issue. Isn’t that the case? To achieve knowledge of God’s substance and understanding of God’s disposition in our believing in God, it requires at least 10 to 20 years of experience. I have experienced God’s work for almost 30 years and I’ve just reached the edge. I could be said to have achieved some small results but I am still not satisfied. I still cannot explain clearly some key, important issues. Even if I try to explain, it is all only my own half-baked knowledge—it is good enough if I can explain a little. So tell me, is understanding God’s disposition and knowing God’s substance a deep lesson? This is not like a university student answering a few questions or a doctorate student writing his doctoral dissertation by reading some reference materials and getting a graduation certificate in one or two years, three years at most. Understanding God’s disposition and knowing God’s substance is not as easy as studying for a doctorate, but it is also not as tiring. We need to go with the flow. On the one hand, we need to fulfill our duty, eat and drink God’s words, and when facing the truth or a difficult question, we ponder it and seek and pray for the work of the Holy Spirit. Also, we have to listen to the sermons and fellowship, and follow each step of God’s leading. When we experience to the very end, at that time we will have entry on each aspect of the truth. This is very easy. Believing in God and gaining the truth is definitely not as tiring as being a scientist or studying for a doctorate or master’s degree. That is for sure. But what cannot be denied is that we cannot be inattentive. We must use our hearts! They use their brains, and we use our hearts. We use our hearts to be considerate of God’s will, to contemplate God’s words, to pray to God and seek the truth, and to listen carefully to sermons and fellowship, and when we have some free time, we ponder, introspect, self-reflect—that is how to use our hearts. If we can do all these, before we know it, our stature will keep growing and our understanding of God’s disposition and knowledge of God’s substance will continue to deepen, and in the end we will gain substantive knowledge. With the guidance and perfection of the Holy Spirit, if we cooperate, it will be fine. Those doctors in theology who specialize in studying theology keep reading all sorts of theology writings and books by famous Bible scholars, and they can’t even finish reading all of it in four or five years. And after reading, they have to remember it all and make notes, and they also have to keep revising the notes. Their job mainly involves using their brains. As for us, what do we use to experience God’s work? We use our hearts, and if we can do this, the Holy Spirit will work and enlighten us. If you exert your heart toward the truth, the Holy Spirit will work. Once the Holy Spirit works, the truth will go straight into your heart. The Holy Spirit does not work the truth into your brain, but into your heart. The result is that you will be illuminated in your heart and the path in your heart will be clear. You will be enlightened and you will understand in your heart, and once you understand in your heart your spirit will be released and the matter is done. But it won’t do if you don’t use your heart, don’t contemplate God’s words, and don’t seek the truth.

Regarding some aspects of the truth that involve God’s disposition and substance, we sometimes have to generalize, summarize, ponder, and communicate, and in accordance with many manifestations and facts grasp the substantive thing, the common thing. That way, we can achieve knowledge of God’s substance. For instance, there are many displays of God’s love for mankind and many displays of God’s mercy. There are these many manifestations, but what is the substantive thing behind them? What is the substance of God’s disposition? Without these displays, would you be able to grasp the substantive thing? You would not. Can there be a summary without a generalization? What does the generalization refer to? You have to see, experience, and appreciate all aspects, and when there are a lot of generalized things, when there are lot of appreciated things, and when perceptive things accumulate more, and in the end elevate into rational knowledge, knowledge of substance, that means the best results have been achieved. There is first perceptive knowledge and then rational knowledge. What is the relationship between perceptive knowledge and rational knowledge? Rational knowledge is the result. When perceptive knowledge elevates into rational knowledge, that means there is knowledge of substance. Perceptive knowledge is gained through seeing a lot of manifested things but having no grasp of the substance. When you have common knowledge of perceptive things and appreciation is deepened, then you can grasp substantive things. For example, when it comes to God’s disposition, what kind of people does God like? Some say He likes honest people. What other type of people does God like? Some say He likes people who love the truth, people who love God, people who like pursuing the truth. Others say He likes people who are considerate of God’s will, people with good humanity, people who are kind-hearted. All of these are perceptive knowledge. In substance, what kind of people does God truly like or like the most? Based on all these displays and phenomena, just what kind of people does God like? God likes honest people. These displays such as loving God, being considerate of God’s will and being obedient to God can all be accomplished by honest people. When it comes down to it, God likes honest people. Those things you said were all your own knowledge, your own ideas. God did not say He likes people who are considerate toward His will. He didn’t say He likes kind-hearted people. God only said He likes honest people, He loves honest people. See, to see clearly these issues, to sum them up into one key statement regarding what type of people God truly likes, you must do it based on God’s words. The type of people you said before that God likes—does that have a basis in God’s words? You said through reasoning that honest people are kind-hearted people, so if God likes honest people He surely likes kind-hearted people too. Is it appropriate to use logical reasoning? It is not appropriate. You said honest people are people who love God in their hearts, so God also loves people who love Him in their hearts. Is it right to say that? No, you cannot use reasoning. So what issues does knowing God’s substance involve? What is the premise for this? If you seek knowledge of God’s substance, you must experience God’s work, have a lot of perceptive knowledge of God, and see God’s works and the many aspects of God’s works. Then based on these things and based on God’s words, you summarize and find the substantive things. That way, you achieve knowledge of God’s substance, right? When we discuss understanding God’s disposition, some say God hates the wicked, while others say God hates the devil Satan. Some say God loves man, saves man, God is merciful and will always forgive man and man’s sins. If we generalize this, what is the substance of God’s treatment of man? You can’t generalize it. Someone who can speak of many superficial phenomena but does not have good caliber will not be able to sum up substantive things. Isn’t that the case? For instance, a particular person speaks especially honestly, he is especially guileless and never does bad things. He is also not a great talker who always buries himself in work, doesn’t waste a word, never lies, never talks nonsense, only does honest things and never cheats others. You have discovered so many things about this person, so what is the substance of this person? Is it easy to summarize? After saying so much, all of these external phenomena are proof and manifestations of a guileless person. Therefore, summarizing this person’s substance, based on these displays you speak of, you can be certain that he is a guileless person. Let’s take another example. Say another person lies a lot and doesn’t do anything without lying; when this person talks, you can’t tell what is true and what are lies. This person may speak like telling the truth, but it is often shown not to be the case. This is a person who will lie whenever he opens his mouth, lying without even feeling embarrassed, and this person doesn’t open up his heart no matter how much he speaks to someone, so no one can fathom just what big secret lies in this person’s heart and nobody knows what this person might do in the future. What kind of a person is this? How do we sum them up? However we put it, these are all the displays of deceitful people, so the substance of this person is deceitful. Why is he a deceitful person? Because many of his behaviors prove that he is a deceitful person, meaning deceit is his substance. Is this the right way to understand it? Yes, this is the way to understand it.

How is God’s substance known? When you have experienced to a certain degree, you will come to know that the substance of God’s disposition is holy and righteous and that it is mainly righteous. So if Satan judges and condemns God again, will you be able to distinguish? Will you still be deceived? You won’t be deceived any more. If there are some words of God you don’t understand, and you develop notions and misunderstandings, what is the problem here? You can still develop notions and misunderstandings toward God, and what does this explain? That you don’t know God’s substance, and that is why you may still develop notions and misunderstandings toward God. When you understand God and have achieved knowledge of God’s substance, the substance of God’s disposition, the substance of God’s life, regardless of whether God’s words or what God does conform with your notions, you won’t doubt God or judge God, won’t develop notions, and moreover won’t misunderstand God or resist God and instead you will only obey God, and obey even if you don’t understand, obey even if you don’t comprehend it, obey even if you have your own notions—you will obey in everything. Is this easy to do? You all say no. Why are some people able to do it? Some say it is because they have knowledge of God’s substance. Right, that’s the key here. Some people always ponder these issues: “Why do I always have notions? How come other people don’t have notions? What is going on here? Am I someone who ought to be damned?” They smack their face, they punish themselves, but afterward things are still the same. Notions cannot be resolved by just smacking your face because they are developed from within the heart, and have nothing to do with the body. Right? Then how is this problem resolved? You must pay attention to knowing God. If you can still develop notions, this explains that you are not someone who knows God. When it comes to the knowledge of God, you fall too far short, and it’s blank. That’s why you’re constantly generating notions and misunderstandings. Notions that might not easily develop in other people can develop very easily in you. With other people there is no misunderstanding of God whatsoever in certain things, but with you the misunderstanding is quite deep. This means you are missing too many things inside you. You don’t have a heart that fears God or a heart of obedience at all. Such behavior comes from having no knowledge of God whatsoever.

God said: “If you do not understand the disposition of God, then you will be very likely to offend His disposition. Offending His disposition is tantamount to provoking the ire of God Himself, in which case the ultimate fruit of your actions will be the violation of the administrative decrees. Now you should realize that when you know God’s substance, so too can you understand His disposition—and when you understand His disposition, so too will you have understood the administrative decrees. Needless to say, much of what is contained within the administrative decrees touches upon the disposition of God, but not all of His disposition is expressed within the administrative decrees; hence, you must go a step further in developing your understanding of God’s disposition.” This passage is talking about two matters. The first is if people do not understand the disposition of God, then they will easily offend His disposition. Such an offense is tantamount to provoking the ire of God Himself. This is the first matter. Some people say: “What is offending God’s disposition? What does that mean?” Has God explained it? It is explained as provoking the ire of God Himself. What does provoking the ire of God Himself mean? Using simple words, it means you are provoking God to anger, as you are resisting God. You have resisted God so greatly that you are provoking God’s anger, and so God is angry with you. That is what it means. Let’s use the relationship between a child and his parents as a comparison. This son doesn’t honor his parents and has provoked his parents to anger, so his father is angry and wants to punish him. That is what this means. This is the first matter. As for the second matter, God’s disposition is not entirely expressed in His administrative decrees. If someone thinks that God’s disposition is entirely expressed in His administrative decrees and that only the administrative decrees set forth and announced by God represent God’s disposition, while the other words of God, like His words of comforting man, teaching man, exposing man, or admonishing man, are devoid of God’s disposition, not carrying God’s disposition, then he has made a grave mistake. Strictly speaking, each word expressed by God carries God’s disposition and represents God’s disposition. You could also say that each sentence of the words of God is an expression of God’s disposition. Can you accept this way of explaining it? Let’s take, for instance, God saying some words of mercy toward man. Which aspect of God’s disposition is expressed through these words of mercy, including some words spoken by the Lord Jesus? These words represent God’s merciful and loving disposition. They are an expression of God’s merciful and loving disposition. How many aspects or parts does God’s righteous disposition include? Mercy and love are one aspect, and righteousness, majesty, and wrath are another aspect. Then are mercy and love found in righteousness and majesty? They are. Then are righteousness and majesty found in love and mercy? They are. Can mercy and love be separated from righteousness and majesty? They cannot. Therefore, no matter what age God is working in, all the words He expresses represent His disposition, and His disposition and what He has and is can be found in these words. During the Age of Grace, the work done by the Lord Jesus was done mainly through His mercy and love. So did the Lord Jesus express any of His righteousness and majesty? He did. How was it expressed? Some of you say it was expressed in rebuking the Pharisees. This is one aspect. How was it expressed toward His disciples? Did the Lord Jesus show His righteous and majestic disposition to them in any occasion? Let’s find an example. The Lord Jesus said to Peter, “Get you behind Me, Satan” (Mat 16:23). This is one example. As another example, the prophecies of the final things to come tell which people will receive punishment. God’s righteous disposition can be found in these prophecies. Therefore, if someone thinks that only the administrative decrees God proclaims represent His disposition and all of God’s many other words do not represent His disposition, this is a mistake, this is biased, and it is absurd. Each of God’s words is an expression of His disposition, they all contain God’s disposition. This is the correct way to understand it.

Do you now have an interest in what I am communicating? Is it not getting through to anyone? “What’s the point of listening to this boring stuff? First, listening to it won’t make us rich. Secondly, it won’t make us happy. What’s the point of always listening to this?” Does anyone think this way? “Wouldn’t it be great if you could teach us the way to get rich?” Does pursuing the truth have anything to do with getting rich? They are unrelated. While they are unrelated, there is one thing that cannot be avoided: If you seek knowledge of God then you will have God’s blessings. What kind of blessings? You’ll receive a hundred-fold of what you pay out in this life and eternity in the next. God’s blessings pour down on mankind in great abundance, overflowing, and are all given for nothing. You see now there are many people who pursue the truth and bear witness to God who are given hospitality and eat better than normal wherever they go. If their clothes tear or get old, there are people to repair them, and some are even given new clothes. They don’t need to carry bedding rolls, pans and lunch boxes. They eat food prepared for them wherever they go and don’t need to cook. If one truly becomes a person with knowledge of God who can bear witness to God anywhere, would you then say this is a person blessed by God? Not just eternity in the next life, but receiving a hundred-fold of returns in this life. These are true words! This fact can be seen in me and some leaders, as well as witnesses who pursue the truth. This is true. Tell me, would you rather have eternal life or become super rich? Everyone wants eternal life. Then is eternal life more valuable than being super wealthy? How much money can eternal life be bought for or exchanged for? It cannot be bought with money, not even all the world. Isn’t that so? So if you seek understanding of God’s disposition and knowledge of God’s substance—it doesn’t have to be completely accomplished, just half-accomplished is okay—you can be used greatly by God. How God uses me is how He will use you. It’s the same. The truth does not show favoritism. God does not show favoritism. Some people get anxious and say: “Why doesn’t God bless me now? If He pays me back a hundred-fold now, I will pursue the truth earnestly.” Is this a good thing to say? This is engaging in a business transaction. You must first pursue the truth to receive God’s blessing and guidance. If you don’t pursue the truth, but ask for conditions first and try to engage in transactions with God, that’s being unreasonable. First pursue the truth and pay the price, and when trials befall you don’t be discouraged, don’t complain, don’t misunderstand God. You must understand that God absolutely loves mankind and that His love for you is greater than that of your parents by a hundred-fold or even a thousand-fold. Parents only worry about food and clothes for you at present, but they don’t know how to give you eternal life. God’s blessing is for thousands or even tens of thousands of generations, letting you enter eternity, and giving you a good destination. God’s love is a hundred times or even ten thousand times greater than the love parents have for their children.

There is a person I know who has quite good caliber, but because he can’t leave his parents behind he is unable to fulfill his duty. In the end, he is unable to attain knowledge of God despite having believed in God for many years. He said: “There’s nothing I can do. How tough is my life! Isn’t it because being filial to my parents has held me back? God should be understanding toward this.” God is understanding toward you, but you have not gained perfection, nor have you gained great blessings. So what is this? Isn’t this what we call in Chinese “cleverness in trivial matters messing up a matter of major importance”? Now is the time for God to perfect people. These 20 to 30 years is the key period for God’s perfection of man. This period of time is the most crucial time for the whole universe and entire human history, and yet you have wasted it. You fool. Are you blind? Do you not see what time it is and who is working? Isn’t this blindness? There are a lot of young people I admire. Admire for what? They are 25 or 26 years old, the key age for finding a spouse. But they have accepted God’s work, and once they accepted it, they gave up looking for a spouse and started following God and fulfilling their duty. Isn’t this wise? Aren’t they people who fervently want God? These are the people I admire most in the house of God. Now that you have enough will to not look for a spouse, you should put all of your efforts into knowing God and His disposition. God does not treat people unfairly. This suffering is not in vain, isn’t that right? Some people are not filial to their parents, but this suffering is not in vain; some don’t take good care of their children and their children complain, but this suffering is not in vain. As long as you can gain the truth, it is worth it! Some people don’t look for a spouse their entire lives and don’t know who they can lean on when they are old. They don’t need to worry about these things, because with God’s grace, there is no getting old. What about illness? Just pursue the truth earnestly. When you really do fall ill due to a trial from God, if you obey, God will bless you and not make you suffer too much. You are right to trust God, because God is almighty; trusting people brings no certainty, as they are unreliable. Only God can be relied upon. Try it if you don’t believe me. Experience it yourself and see just whether God can be trusted or not. Therefore, you must put some effort into the lessons of understanding God’s disposition and knowing God’s substance. When you have nothing to do, ponder diligently, communicate, and make some notes. Make some notes on these two aspects of your lessons, treating it as special homework. If you put in a year of effort, you are guaranteed to understand quite a bit. Just in this year, make some notes and purposely seek regarding this aspect, purposely search God’s words more, and purposely communicate more. When it has been one year, take a look back at these things you did purposely and consciously put effort into, and you’ll know just whether you have made any gains.

Some people ask: “What will happen after we understand God’s disposition and substance? What can we gain from it? How much money can we get? What kind of results can we achieve?” Can you see this with your eyes? They say: “Won’t we not still be us? We will still be as tall as we are, our weight will still be about the same, and our skin will still be the same color. We won’t have changed!” When you have achieved knowledge of God’s disposition and substance, just what have you gained? Can someone talk about it? Some say they start to fear God and shun evil. What else? Others say: “I used to not be able to love God no matter how much I tried, but ever since I acquired some knowledge of God’s disposition and substance, I think God is very lovable and I have a heart that loves God.” This is one outcome. What else? Some say: “Ever since I understood God’s disposition and substance, I no longer have any notions toward God, and no matter how God’s words or work don’t conform to human notions, I can still accept and obey them all.” This is a change. What else? Fulfilling your duty energetically, knowing how to conform to God’s intentions, knowing what duty you should fulfill, and knowing what things you should do and what things you should not do—all of this is clear and bright, as is the way to act. Isn’t this a good outcome? I won’t say more. Just these few outcomes prove that you gained the truth and life. After these few outcomes are generated, do you know how God sees you? Do you know your place in God’s heart and how much weight you carry in His heart? They’ve changed, and God says of you in secret: “I like this person. I’m going to put him to great use in the future.” How much money does it cost to buy a statement like that? How much money do you need? You can’t ever buy it! Just from you putting in some effort and God saying of you, “This person is very good,” you have become precious, valuable, and weighty. It’s not easy to make a good impression on God, right? Some people see God’s face and say a few words, and God says: “This person is really a demon!” Just one act of debauchery, one act of contempt, or one notion, can make God condemn someone. Do you know what this condemnation means? It means such a person’s ending has been determined. Some day they will die, and that has already been set. So you see how some people can sometimes inadvertently make a statement or reveal something that shows their demonic nature, and once God sees it, He will hate and despise them, and it will be over for them. Some people bear some suffering, pay a price, and seriously seek the truth and obey God. God sees it, and says: “This person is not bad. This person can be saved. This person has hope. This is true faith.” No amount of money can buy these few words. So if we pursue knowledge of God, no matter how much we suffer, it is worth it as long as we can achieve results. Even though God doesn’t say anything to you externally, you will be able to slowly feel deep inside your heart that “God indeed guides me, God indeed blesses me; I really have God’s care and protection.” How much peace and joy can this kind of feeling bring you? This kind of peace and joy has no sound and is not like God’s words of blessing to Abraham or praise of Job. But even though such words are not spoken in the external world, you will feel inside your soul that “I am someone who belongs to God; God looks after me and protects me. I may be a person who in God’s heart is saved.” This kind of feeling cannot be bought for any amount of money. Do you have this feeling? Experience in such a way and you gradually will. This kind of feeling is valuable. It is more valuable and precious than the feeling of being in love. Does romantic love feel valuable? Some say it is not valuable. But even such a worthless feeling can make people extremely satisfied, be in high spirits, and be so happy that they smile in their sleep. It’s a feeling that makes people secretly happy and so satisfied that they don’t know what to do. However, the feeling of God’s blessing and care, which is like God is looking after you and protecting you in secret, is a feeling that can bring about a beautiful destination and bring you true peace. Which feeling is better? The feeling of God’s blessing is better. It would be great if one can obtain the feeling of God’s blessing. Tell me, can people who pursue the truth obtain this kind of feeling? They all can. I have this feeling. I’ve had this feeling from the moment I started believing in Jesus. I have encountered many dangerous things. As I was foolish and ignorant, a lot of things I couldn’t see through, but God has always secretly protected me. When some wicked people plotted against me, God protected me and I avoided harm. Many dangerous situations were resolved by God’s protection. There were also other types of occurrences, such as when I needed something, I thought about it in my heart and God would make it ready for me. There are many things that don’t require me to discuss in detail. As long as you pursue the truth, you will be able to feel that God is secretly blessing you, guiding you, protecting you. I believe this feeling can be found in all people who pursue the truth, and certainly not just a few people. It’s just that some people neglect it, while for some the feeling is obvious. They neglect it because they only experience it once or twice; they will feel it if they experience it a few more times. Is that the case? They will feel it even if they are not sharp-witted. What is the point of me saying these things? The point is, if you pursue the truth and pursue knowledge of God, you will have God’s guidance every step of the way. Even if you didn’t have the work of the Holy Spirit before, now you will. If you didn’t have God’s grace before, pursue the truth now, and then you will. The easiest way to receive God’s grace and blessing is to pursue the truth and pursue knowledge of God. It is the easiest way to receive the work of the Holy Spirit and God’s blessing and grace.
