Only Honest People Are People Who Truly Live Before God

What is the true meaning of “believing in God”? The true meaning of “believing in God” is that everything must be done by depending on God, and all must depend on the work of the Holy Spirit to achieve results; it is to believe that God can accomplish all things and make everything perfect, and to believe that the work of the Holy Spirit accomplishes all. This is the true meaning of believing in God. If a person’s belief in God stops at merely acknowledging that He exists, and after that their every action depends on themselves, this will thoroughly fail and will gain no reward at all. People within religion always make this mistake; they are unable to grasp the work of the Holy Spirit, and rely only on themselves for everything. As a result, after obeying the rules for a few years, they do not see any changes in their life disposition and they lose heart. Today we live before God, we depend upon a true faith, and also rely upon the work of the Holy Spirit to enter all truths, and this achieves results. God’s salvation of people is the result achieved through their faith and the Holy Spirit working within them; attaining salvation does not depend solely on people’s hard work. Thus, obtaining the work of the Holy Spirit is the most basic factor to have one’s belief in God be successful. So, how can one obtain the work of the Holy Spirit? There is only one standard, and that is to be an honest person before God, to sincerely believe in God’s words, and to sincerely rely on the work of the Holy Spirit. This way, you can understand the truth, and will be able to enter into reality. If you do not believe in God, if you do not believe that God’s words are the truth, if you do not believe that the work of the Holy Spirit determines everything, then it can be said that you do not have true faith in God. If you do not have true faith in God, then your pursuit of the truth and your entry into reality will all become mere words, empty of meaning. Therefore, to be an honest person before God is the most fundamental condition of attaining salvation and being made perfect.

So how on earth do we be honest before God? In the past we often fellowshiped that to believe in God one must have true communion with Him, and praying to God is communion with God. Praying to God is having a heart-to-heart exchange with God, so when you are praying to God you must be pure and open with Him about what exactly you are thinking in your heart, what plans you have, and what intentions and goals you have. Give your heart to God, let God be your master, let Him govern you; that is, let God have a place in your heart and take charge of you. This way, you are giving your heart to God, and a person that truly gives their heart to God is an honest person. Giving your heart to God is most essential to being an honest person. Now when many people pray to God, they know to say, “God! I give my heart to You.” After they say this, what happens? It has no effect. Everyone says this sentence, but they do not tangibly put it into practice, and the result is that when facing any matter, although they pray to God, they still have the final say on how they act in the end, they still rely on their own life philosophies, and they still act according to their own interests. If you act in this way, then your prayers to God become empty words without any meaning. Because you act without God in your heart, although you say that you give your heart to God, in reality your actions in all matters are done without giving your heart to God. Instead, you ask God to listen to you, you ask God to accomplish things according to your ideas, and to render service according to your wishes. Is this giving your heart to God? Some people say, “God! I have devoted my whole life to You,” and in the end they still grab at money in the same way, they are still reluctant to part with worldly things, and they still pursue earthly fame, status and wealth in the same way. Is this kind of person truly giving their heart to God? Some people say, “God! I give my children to You,” and what is the result? They single-mindedly support their children to go to university, to pursue worldly things, pursue reputation and status, pursue getting into a good school, pursue becoming a high level official and becoming rich. So this kind of prayer—to entrust one’s own children to God and to devote oneself to God—is this not deceiving God? Some people say, “We can’t now give ourselves completely to God.” If you can’t do it then don’t blindly make wishes, and don’t deceive God. Speak the truth, and say, “God, my faith now is pathetically little, I still cannot give myself completely to You.” Tell me, is speaking like this not better than deceiving God? When speaking before God, one must be true to the facts. What you are thinking, what you are planning—you must speak directly about it to God. Although you know that your own thoughts, and your own plans do not conform to God’s will, you should beseech God to save you, to change you, or to discipline you. For you to pray in this way you are giving your heart to God; this is true communion with God.

To commune with God is to commune from the heart, and to speak with one’s heart; it is not to be slipshod with God by speaking empty words. For example, two people get on together very well, and are intimate friends. When they talk, are they not opening their hearts to each other? If they both try to speak empty pleasantries together, then that is not open-hearted, that is mutual deception. You tell me, are two friends speaking open-heartedly with each other happy, or are they happy speaking empty pleasantries? Of course they are happier speaking intimately. To be able to speak to people with some intimacy is one of the happiest things in life, and is very gratifying. So, if when you pray to God you speak empty pleasantries and slogans, is your heart at peace afterward? It is not at peace, isn’t this so? If you speak truthfully in the way that you tell God about the state of your heart, what happens afterward? Although you speak with some honesty, you are not happy with yourself. You also know your own such plans, thoughts, and viewpoints do not satisfy God, but you speak out what is in your heart, and your heart is happy. Now that if you want to be an honest person, the most essential thing is that when praying before God you lay your heart bare before Him. You must be able to tell God your true state. Every word of prayer to God should be truthful, without a single word of slogans, empty talk, boasting, or empty pleasantries. If all your words of prayer are from the heart, and all are heartfelt, then your prayers will be acceptable, and it can be said that you have truly entered into becoming an honest person. When your prayer gets past, and all your words are truthful, and are heartfelt, without the slightest bit of falseness or deception, then that is the behavior of an honest person; this is the most essential behavior. To be an honest person before God, first you must meet this condition: Prayer to God must be from the heart, it must be true to the fact, and it must be heartfelt. If you cannot meet this condition, then you are not an honest person. Is praying like religious people being an honest person? How do they all pray? Supplicating like beggars, constantly speaking falsehoods and making empty vows, always deceiving God and trying to fool Him, is this not so? There are also many who are praying in name, but in actual fact are just talking to themselves. They recite the wisdom of the Bible, and show themselves off—is that prayer? That is a foolish and arrogant person showing himself off. He says, “See how much I understand? I can recite all those good chapters of the Bible before God, so that He may listen.” Is this not showing himself off? This is shameless behavior.

Do you all still have this kind of prayer? Every time you use an empty word in prayer, what must you do? You have to hurry back and say: “God! I just prayed with empty words, I will not speak like this anymore. I wish for You, God, to discipline me, do not let me speak without thinking or talk nonsense.” Next, you will also say to God, “God! The prayer I made just now does not count, I will pray again.” As simply as a child would, when praying before God speak all of the truth in your heart, and be open-hearted with God. When seeing your own inadequacies, you should supplicate to God, and seek the truth. This is the first step of entry into being an honest person. If when praying you do not have the likeness of an honest person, and you do not speak as an honest person, then it can be said that with regard to being an honest person you do not have the slightest bit of entry. If when speaking to people you occasionally practice speaking a couple of truthful sentences, that doesn’t count as any true entry. However much true practice you show before God, all of that is counted as entry. First, open your heart. Second, be true to the facts. However you feel in your heart, that is how you must speak. What the nature of the matter is, that is the nature that you must speak of. If what you do is clearly bad, and what you plan in your heart is clearly mistaken and absurd, then you must go before God and frankly acknowledge it; acknowledge that your thinking is absurd and that your actions are wrong, and speak truthfully. If you cannot speak truthfully in your prayers to God, and if you cannot confess your true behavior and what you did to God by being true to the facts, then this is also deceiving God. For example, you handle your duties in a slipshod manner, and some brothers and sisters deal with you, and criticize you. Then, you go before God to quibble and argue. What kind of person are you? You are a deceitful person who cannot take the correct approach to your own transgressions; you are not being honest and frank before God. If you have obviously stolen something, yet stubbornly insist that you’ve just taken it, and that you haven’t stolen it, then is this right? Is this not dishonest? If you clearly insult someone, yet willfully insist that you didn’t, then this is dishonest and it is the greatest dishonesty, and it is distorting the facts. If brothers and sisters see that you are irresponsible and that you are slipshod and perfunctory in your duties, and they initiate dealing and pruning toward you, you then speak fallacious arguments and are not convinced, and you stubbornly refuse to acknowledge anything—is this being an honest person? If someone before God cannot tell God what he did strictly according to the facts, if he cannot be true to the facts in his prayers to God, then that person is deceitful, and he is someone who deceives and tries to fool God; this person is not honest. If you are not frank with people, sometimes it is because of keeping face, or because you are too vain, and you cannot acknowledge any fault. However, you also do not acknowledge any fault before God—isn’t this kind of person beyond saving? Some people do not dare to acknowledge things before others, and they are concerned with keeping face. However, they go before God and they acknowledge their faults, and cry, and weep; although such people do not act up to standard before others, they do have hearts that revere God, and they are quite honest before God. This kind of person still has a thread of hope for salvation. If someone does not speak truthfully before God, if they stand there and make their own fallacious arguments, and use sophistry, and try to vindicate themselves, then this kind of person cannot be saved. Therefore, if a person cannot be honest before God, this person is completely finished, and they have no hope of attaining salvation.

So, are you now honest people before God? When brothers and sisters, or leaders and workers of the church, deal with you and prune you, do you acknowledge your transgressions before God? If someone does not acknowledge their transgressions before God, and continues to speak in their own defense, is this kind of person in danger? If one’s belief in God reaches this point, then what is the difference between that and not believing in God? Some people have serious transgressions that they do not speak of in front of others, and they do not dare to acknowledge them, yet they can acknowledge them before God and weep bitterly; this is normal. If they have courage, they can also speak in front of others, and they will call a spade a spade, and tell things like they are. Thus in spite of their transgressions, they are an honest person. If they truly pursue the truth, then they will likewise attain salvation and be perfected. What is most important to being made perfect is that you are an honest person before God. If you can be an honest person before God, then you will be able to obtain the work of the Holy Spirit. Even though you have transgressions, God’s love is still upon you, the Holy Spirit still disciplines you, and God also judges you. This way, it won’t be long before you can see the changes in your own life disposition. If you cannot be an honest person before God, then even if you have no obvious transgressions, you still won’t be able to attain salvation, because you do not have true communion with God, and you are not a right and honest person before God. Thus, whether or not you are an honest person before God is the most crucial thing. Some people fulfill their duties without devotion, and they always do things perfunctorily and shoddily. When leaders and workers arrange some duty for them to perform, or ask them to take responsibility for some job, they never put all their heart and strength into it. Their mouths say one thing but their actions say another as they do not work hard nor approach their duties with any urgency. What is the problem here? If they are not willing to do their duties before God, are they a person who obeys God? When a creation does not fulfill their duty, this suffices to show that they are a person who does not live before God, but are someone who betrays God. Although you acknowledge God’s existence in your heart, your actions run contrary to God’s will. If you cannot satisfy God in your duties, it can be said that this kind of person rebels against God, and is absolutely not someone who belongs to God. Whoever fulfills their duties with conscience and reason, who is devoted to God, and who is hardworking and responsible, only this kind of person is a truly honest person, and this kind of person most attains God’s blessings. As for whether someone is an honest person or not, look at how they do their duties. If they do not please people in their duties, will they be able to please God? That is even more impossible. They do their duties perfunctorily and carelessly, without bearing any burden at all—is this someone who truly believes in God? Are they someone who obeys God’s work? Therefore, people who are not hardworking and responsible in the fulfilling of their duties do not have true faith in God, and also do not truly obey God’s work. Such people have not entered the correct path of believing in God, and whether or not they can attain salvation remains questionable.

To measure whether or not someone is an honest person, first you must look at whether or not they are devoted to God in the fulfilling of their duties. Besides this, look at whether someone is hardworking and responsible in the fulfilling of their duties, and whether or not they meet with other people’s approval. If brothers and sisters can see that you do your duties well and you are very responsible, that is, you have gained their approval, then at least your conscience will rest easy. If your conscience is clear, that shows that you are a person with conscience and reason. If you do not gain the approval of brothers and sisters, and people don’t think much of you, then tell me, can your conscience rest easy? Your conscience is not at peace, which shows that you have no conscience or reason before God. What is the first thing that an honest person possesses? They must have conscience and reason. If you do not have conscience and reason before God, then can you be counted as an honest person? Thus, what is used to measure whether or not someone has humanity? You must first look at whether or not they are an honest person; if they are honest, they have humanity, and if they are not honest, they have no humanity. So, how can you tell if they are an honest person? You must first look at how they fulfill their duties; the fulfilling of duties is most revealing of whether or not someone is an honest person. It reveals whether or not they actually have humanity, or conscience and reason. If you say, “God is love, all that God does is love, God loves me, and God has done so much to save me,” then why have you not done your duties well? How do you return God’s love? You haven’t done your duties well, yet you talk about God’s love; does it not seem as though you have no conscience? What should a person with conscience do when he sees God’s love? He must return God’s love! He must make some effort to show his gratitude toward God’s love. If children see that everything their parents do is for them, is it possible for them to not be filial? So when you see that everything God does, no matter whether it is judgment, chastisement, trials, or refinement, that all of it is to save you, why do you not do your duty well? Why do you not make the slightest effort to return God’s love? Does this not reveal whether or not a person has conscience? It reveals this completely. The entirety of mankind has been corrupted so deeply by Satan, and no-one has a shred of humanity, but we believe in God today and we have seen His love, and we have seen His salvation; why has your spirit not awoken? Why can you still not, in the fulfilling of your duties, satisfy God even once? You can’t even express this little bit, so what do you have to say for your humanity? If people do not fulfill their duties well, and still think that their belief is better than that of other people, and that they make God most glad and attain His blessings the most, is this not self-deception? Is this not completely stupid and ignorant? Does this person have any knowledge of themselves? If you can’t see these matters clearly, then your stature must be so small! When I see a brother or sister who is devoted to God in the fulfilling of their duties, and who acts in order to satisfy God, I say that this person is very good, this person has humanity, and is worth training. If I hear of a brother or sister being perfunctory and careless in their duties, and not taking on any responsibilities at all, to the point where their work achieves no results, then what do I feel in my heart? I say that this person appears very astute, but how can they show absolutely no consideration for God’s heart? Why do they have not even the slightest bit of love for God in their heart? Well, the humanity of this person is also not worth much! Their stature is so small, their belief in God is zealous only on the surface, but they do not pursue entry into reality. They do not understand the will of God in the slightest. This person is very confused! I say, “How many years has this person believed for? If they have believed for several years and still have this stature, that is so pitiful!” They have believed for several years but still have not even a shred of a human likeness, and take on no work at all. When the church assigns you some work you should see it as God lifting you up, as God’s love! Then you should hasten to make every effort, use all your heart and mind and strength to the utmost to satisfy God! Even if you do something wrong, you can repent before God. Only this kind of person is truly an honest person, and is someone who makes God glad.

How are you now in the fulfilling of your duties? Can you perform your duties acceptably? According to your own conscience, do you yourself feel satisfied with all that you do? If you are not satisfied with yourself, then how is your conscience and reason before God? If someone has no conscience or reason, and if they always indulge in exaggeration, if they always seek to become a leader and they want to lead others, and they think that they are better than everyone else, then is this kind of person not arrogant to the point of having absolutely no reason at all? New believers are often extremely arrogant and self-righteous in the first three years; they obey no-one and they always want to stand out from the crowd. They always think themselves to be better than everyone else, they don’t listen to a word anyone says, and they pay special attention to vanity and prestige. Because of all this they often have disputes and tangles with brothers and sisters. This is normal—this is a natural state of affairs because people are so corrupt! If they undergo a few years of dealing and pruning, failures and falls, they should wake up and undergo some changes. They should see how foolish and ignorant they were in the past, how arrogant, how self-righteous and how much they valued fame and status—how stupid! They become regretful, and they hate themselves, even to the point of wanting to beat themselves up, saying, “How did I live with such a moral character in the past? I was truly corrupted so deeply by Satan!” Only after believing for a few years will they start to feel themselves to have some change, to begin to have some human likeness; this is a normal phenomenon. Thus, do not look down on whichever new believer you see to be arrogant and self-righteous, for you should know that when you were a new believer you were also like that, with that moral character, and that is how you developed. But after believing for a few years, if they are a person who pursues the truth then they should undergo some change. The things they were able to do before, from now on they won’t be able to do, as they will think it too shameful, and too lacking in humanity. No matter what anyone says they won’t do things that way anymore, is it not so? If this kind of result is achieved, then this is the experience of a changing disposition, and no mistake.

Do you all think yourselves to have changed now? The things that the unbelievers can do, and the things that they can say, can you also say and do these things? Always showing off before other people, being jealous of anyone who is better than you, and always causing jealous disputes amongst other people—do you still do things like this? Some people do not say what they really mean, and their hearts are filled with opposition. If you were made to do this kind of thing now, would you be able to do it? Say there is a brother or sister serving as a leader, and in some respects they are not as good as you; would you or would you not compete with them? How would you handle it? They do indeed have some shortcomings, and in some aspects are not as good as you, so tell me, how would you handle it? Some people say, “put up with it,” but would you just put up with it? You must support them, and cooperate with them; don’t just be an onlooker, and don’t undermine them. First, do not undermine them; second, if they do something wrong, don’t make sarcastic remarks, but pray for them; third, let us do all in our power to support them, and to protect God’s work. Only this is having humanity, having conscience, and having reason. Can you practice like this at present? If you can achieve this point, then you are an honest person, and it shows that you have conscience, reason, and humanity. If you cannot achieve this point, this shows that you aren’t much different from the unbelievers, and that you haven’t changed at all. During the first three years, new believers often do things like the unbelievers do, competing for status and having jealous disputes, obeying no one and heeding nothing anyone says. After a few years, all these things become clear and they realize that to act like this is so foolish, and is to act without a human likeness. After you have believed for ten years or eight years, to make you leader or not makes no difference to you; you can still properly carry out your own responsibilities and duties. Without the status of being a leader, you still do your duty just as before, and what you see as important is doing your duty to satisfy God. You have a heart that loves God and satisfies God. This is a person whose life disposition has changed; not wanting any kind of status, but able to fulfill their duties in every aspect and satisfy God, living only to return God’s love, living only to satisfy God, and always doing their utmost to fulfill any duty they can, and in this way their own heart is always at peace and joyous. This is called having conscience and reason, this is an honest person. If you are truly an honest person before God, then you can seek the truth in all things. When facing some matter, suppose you don’t understand the truth and you rely on your own ideas to act, and after you act your heart is not at ease. You think, “Regarding this matter, is acting like this in line with God’s will? Regarding this matter, how on earth can I act to satisfy God? Can my actions conform to the truth?” If you always pursue the truth in this way, and seek the truth in this way, then you will unconsciously know how to act in many different matters in a way that conforms to the truth; you will know how to practice the truth and satisfy God. Is this kind of person not someone who lives before God? An honest person has conscience and reason before God; he is able to seek the truth and pursue the truth, and he is willing to be considerate of God’s will to satisfy God. Thus, if a person is truly honest, all that he does truly shows that he lives before God. When someone is successful at being an honest person, he is someone who lives before God, he is someone who lives in the light, and he is someone who lives by God’s word. When a person lives by God’s word, and lives by the truth, he is someone who lives before God. Only when you successfully become an honest person and have true entry can you realize such an ideal of living before God. If you cannot meet the criteria of living before God, yet you say that you are a person who lives before God, then that is deceit, that is passing yourself off as something you are not, and it is a disguise, and it makes you just the same as the Pharisees—that kind of belief is meaningless.

Now, being an honest person is the most fundamental entry, because being successful as an honest person equates to you being a person who truly has communion with God. It means that you are someone who can attain God’s salvation and you are someone who can truly live before God. Only by having true communion with God can you obtain the work of the Holy Spirit. By obtaining the work of the Holy Spirit, you have the possibility to enter the truth, you can attain an understanding of the truth and grasp God’s will, and obey all of God’s work. In this way, you enter the correct path of belief in God. Where does entering the correct path of believing in God and attaining salvation begin? It begins with being an honest person before God. If you can be an honest person before God and have true communion with Him, then will you have difficulties in communing with other people? You will have even less difficulties. What truths are needed in order to commune with God? First, conscience; second, reason; third, you must be honest, and speak your heart; fourth, you must be true to the facts and treat yourself correctly; fifth, you must learn how to seek the truth; sixth, you must know how to be considerate of God’s will; seventh, you must know how to satisfy God and live for God. When you possess these truths, these truths become your life, then what is ultimately achieved? They enable you to be perfected, so that you may gain the truth, so that you may live out a genuine human likeness, and live out a true life. In this way, does it still need to be said whether you are someone who has attained God’s blessings? Thus, if you truly pursue being an honest person, and you have entry and reality in being an honest person, then it can be said that all is done. You will attain salvation and be made perfect, and afterward you will attain God’s blessing, and be used by God, and so everything is done. Like a child who has just entered school, as long as you study well you’ll have a future, and if you don’t study hard you’ll have no future. Now our belief in God starts from being an honest person. If in being an honest person you truly achieve results, truly have entry, and truly have reality, it can be said that the Holy Spirit will keep working on you, guide you, enlighten you, and illuminate you in every matter, and will lead you to enter the truth. Is this not everything being done? And if you don’t pursue to be an honest person, what then are the consequences? First, you cannot obtain the work of the Holy Spirit; second, you cannot gain God’s praise; third, you cannot gain any kind of truth; fourth, however busy you are or whatever you do externally, you will not see any changes within your life disposition. Thus, if you don’t work hard and make an effort at being an honest person to achieve results, your faith in God is bound to fail; is that clear? Being an honest person is so critical. Whether or not you can be an honest person will decide your fate, and it will decide your destination.

To be an honest person before God, what must you practice first? Having heart-to-heart discussions with God and speaking what is in your heart; do not speak what sounds good, don’t speak empty pleasantries, or polite niceties, for saying those things is useless. Within your prayers, what are the manifestations of speaking empty pleasantries and polite niceties? Which manifestations are speaking words that deceive God, and are speaking empty doctrines? Can you summarize them? Also, which prayers are the most abhorrent to God? People think that those prayers are so popular, and so admirable, but God detests them, God doesn’t listen, and the Holy Spirit doesn’t do His work; what kind of prayer is this? If you don’t realize this, then when you say your own prayers are they the prayers of honest people or not? Well, how does one enter into the prayers of an honest person? I know that many people like to pray like this, saying, “God! You are love, all that You do is for my salvation! You have suffered so much for me, I most definitely will return Your love! I am willing to devote my whole life to You.” What words are these? They are empty words, they are being perfunctory with God, and this is not opening one’s heart to God! For example, today you fellowship with brothers and sisters, or with some leader or worker, and you tell a lie. At that moment you become aware that this is a lie, and that you shouldn’t speak in this way. This is the only lie that you have told today, and you have become aware of it; what should you do? You should come before God and say the following: “God! Today when I was fellowshiping with so-and-so, and I said such-and-such, and it was a lie. At that moment I became aware that it was a lie, and I see from this matter that I’m still severely prone to telling lies. The moment I stop being careful, lies slip out. This satanic nature is really so hard to cast out! God, I beg You to save me, I do not want to lie, I hate lying; I hate myself, this corrupt person that I am, I beg You to save me. If I tell a lie again then You can discipline me, send illness upon me, punish me, for this will benefit me.” Is it good for you to pray like this? Is this being open-hearted with God? This is being open-hearted with God. After you realize the problem, you must hasten to tell God and admit it. For example, today you do something bad, and you say: “God! Today I’ve done something bad yet again, I truly don’t have any dignity to come before You, and I am not even human! But my corruption is so deep and I can’t break free of it by myself. I ask You to save me, God. I ask You to discipline and punish me more. The more You discipline and punish me, I think the more it will benefit me, and the more it will benefit me being saved. If You don’t discipline me, considering how willfully and recklessly I live, then I will be completely finished.” Is this not an appropriate way to pray? Before God, you must speak from your heart; if you discover a serious problem then you must say so. In interpersonal exchanges, especially those between a husband and a wife, whenever some possible dispute arises, if it’s not you who has the problem, then it’s them. How do you handle it? Own up straight away, and say: “Today I said something that was a lie, and I hate myself. At that time I had hidden intentions and I did not speak honestly. This is my corruption, I admit it. If I encounter this kind of thing again in the future, I will not act that way again.” If you speak like this, the problem will be solved. Is that not so? If disputes, clashes, or entanglements arise between people, as long as one can frankly admit to their mistakes, then it will be alright, and everything can be solved. And what of that between a person and God? When barriers arise, when we have notions, rebelliousness, and resistance toward God, we must also be the same as when problems arise between people, and hasten to bring them to light, acknowledge our mistakes before God. Once you acknowledge your mistakes before God, then express your bitter repentance and say what is in your heart, does this not unload your burden? Does this not remove the obstacles in your heart? Once you remove the obstacles between you and God, your communion with God can proceed normally. Sometimes notions arise in some people when they read God’s words, but they bottle them up and don’t tell them to God, and so they then won’t be able to let go of these notions about God, and they will think that God shouldn’t speak like this. So if you bottle things up and don’t pray to God, is this the behavior of an honest person? Is this the action that should be taken by one who believes in God? Who you believe in is God! Now you have a barrier between you and God because of your notions. Why can you not come before God and seek the enlightenment and illumination of the Holy Spirit to solve this problem? Come before God and open up with purity and without restraint, communicate the problems and difficulties in your heart to God, and then the Holy Spirit will enlighten and illuminate you, and cause you to let go of your notions. If you truly seek the truth, then the Holy Spirit is even more able to enlighten and illuminate you, to make you understand the truth, and resolve this obstacle. In this way, your communion with God can still proceed normally. Is this not so? If you truly want to seek to be an honest person, then you must tell God everything that is in your heart, everything you harbor in your heart, no matter what the difficulties. You must seek the truth, and rely on seeking the truth to solve things. This is the practice of an honest person. If you bottle things up and never speak them, and act against God, can such a person still pray normally to God? Can they still seek the truth before God, and grasp God’s will? Can they still normally fulfill their duty to satisfy God? Of course they can’t. Thus, if you do not resolve the barriers between you and God in your heart, the communion between you and God will be broken; it will be finished. If this happens, the Holy Spirit will desert you, and will not work on you, and this will become a very serious problem.
