353 Where Is the Evidence of Your Compatibility With God?
Verse 1
You’re very arrogant, greedy and perfunctory;
and the tricks with which you fool God are very clever.
Your intentions and methods are very contemptible,
your loyalty too meager, your earnestness too paltry,
and your conscience even more lacking still.
Verse 2
There is way too much maliciousness in your hearts.
And no one is spared from your malice, not even God.
You choose to shut Him out for the sake of your children,
or your husband or your own self-preservation.
Yes, you make the choice to shut Him out.
Pre-chorus 1
Instead of caring about God,
you care about your family,
your children, your status, your future,
about your own gratification.
Chorus
When have you ever thought of God?
When have you ever devoted yourself
to Him and His work, at any cost?
Are you compatible with Him?
If you think you are, where’s the evidence?
And where is your loyalty to Him?
Where is it in reality?
And likewise your obedience to Him?
When has the truth behind your intentions
not been for the gaining of His blessings?
Verse 3
When have you ever thought of God as you were speaking?
When have you ever thought of Him as you took action?
On frigid days, on blistering days, when have you?
Your thoughts turn to your children,
your husband, wife, or parents;
God never holds a place in your thoughts.
Pre-chorus 2
When you perform your duty,
you think of your own interests,
your own safety or your family.
What have you ever done that was for God?
Bridge
You fool and deceive God, play with the truth;
you hide the truth’s very existence,
and you also betray the substance of truth.
So just what will these actions bring you?
You seek compatibility with a vague God
and merely seek for a vague belief,
yet you’re not compatible with Christ.
Won’t your evil earn you vengeance
that the wicked deserve?
Outro
It won’t be so for those compatible with Christ.
Though they’ve lost much, and suffered much hardship,
they’ll receive the inheritance God gives to man.
In the end, you’ll see only God is righteous,
and God alone is capable of taking man
into his beautiful destination.
