"How Hard God's Work Is" | English Christian Song

February 8, 2020

1

The steps of God’s work on earth involve great hardship.

Man’s weakness, deficiencies, childishness,

man’s ignorance and everything that is of man

have been carefully planned and considered by God.

Man’s like a paper tiger, none dare provoke him,

or he bites back, gets lost, relapses, ignores God,

or runs to his “pig dad, dog mum” to indulge

in their body’s impure things—what a great hindrance!

At all steps, God’s on trial and faces danger.

His words are sincere, honest and without malice.

It breaks His heart that none accept or fully submit.

He toils night and day and is worried for man’s life.

He sympathizes with the weakness of man.

He endures twists and turns with every word and work.

Knowing how man’s weak, disobedient, childish, fragile,

He turns these things over in His mind, day and night.

Who has ever known this? Who can He confide in?

Who can understand it? Oh, God’s work is so hard.

2

God always hates all man’s sins and man’s spineless ways.

He worries about man’s weakness and his road ahead.

And as He observes all man’s words and his deeds,

it all fills Him with mercy, anger and heartache.

The innocent have now all become so callous,

why must God always make it so difficult for them?

Feeble man is now not able to persevere.

So why should God always be so angry with him?

Man’s weak and powerless, with no vitality.

Why scold his disobedience? Who can withstand God’s threats?

3

Man is fragile, and so in a desperate state,

God has now pushed His anger deep into His heart,

so fragile man may slowly reflect on himself.

Yet man, who’s in trouble, doesn’t value God’s will.

Unaware he’s been trampled by the devil king,

he always sets himself up against the true God,

or he is neither hot nor cold towards his God.

Who’s ever taken God’s many words seriously?
