857 God’s Mercy Towards Mankind Has Never Ceased

Spoken:

“Then said Jehovah, You have had pity on the gourd,

for the which you have not labored, neither made it grow;

which came up in a night, and perished in a night:

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city,

wherein are more than six score thousand persons

that cannot discern between

their right hand and their left hand;

and also much cattle?” (Jonah 4:10–11).

Verse 1

“The Creator’s mercy”

is not an empty phrase, nor a hollow promise.

It has principles and objectives,

true and real with no disguise.

His mercy, bestowed on mankind, endless through time.

But the Creator’s words with Jonah remains

His exclusive statement of why He is merciful,

and how He shows mercy,

how tolerant He is of humanity,

and His true feelings for them.

Chorus

God’s wrath often befalls man, but His mercy never ceases.

With mercy, He guides and leads, supplies, nourishes man,

generation to generation, one age to the next.

His love for man never changes, His love will never change!

His love for man never changes, His love will never change!

Verse 2

Jehovah God’s conversation shows

His full thoughts on humanity,

an expression of His heart

and proof of rich mercy for man,

not just bestowed on elders, but granted to the young,

as it has been and will be one generation to next.

Chorus

God’s wrath often befalls man, but His mercy never ceases.

With mercy, He guides and leads, supplies, nourishes man,

generation to generation, one age to the next.

His love for man never changes, His love will never change!

God’s wrath often befalls man, but His mercy never ceases.

With mercy, He guides and leads, supplies, nourishes man,

generation to generation, one age to the next.

His love for man never changes, His love will never change!

His love for man never changes, His love will never change!
