331 Is It God’s Will for You to Live in the Flesh?

Verse 1

People are toying with God;

they know how to nourish themselves,

but they don’t feel anxious about God’s will.

Is this serving or loving God?

No wonder they’re idle and carefree.

Still unsatisfied, some create their own sorrow.

They are being self-sentimental.

Chorus

Is it God who makes you sorrowful?

Aren’t you bringing suffering on yourself?

Is God’s grace unfit to be the source of your happiness?

Why haven’t you been mindful of God’s will?

Why have you been negative and distressed?

Is it God’s will to make you live in the flesh?

Verse 2

You’re ignorant of God’s will;

uneasy, you grumble and mope all day,

and your flesh suffers torture and pain.

You ask others to praise God amid chastisement

and emerge from it unconstrained,

yet you’ve fallen into it and can’t escape.

It takes years to learn this “self-sacrifice.”

Pre-chorus

Aren’t you ashamed when you preach doctrines?

Do you know yourself and put yourself aside?

Do you truly love God and put aside your prospects?
