299 Man’s Disposition Has Become Supremely Vicious
Verse 1
Thousands of years of corruption
have left man dull and numb,
turned him into a demon opposing God,
his rebellion written in history.
Even man can’t account for
all of his rebellion.
So corrupted and led astray by Satan,
he knows not where to turn.
Verse 2
Still today man betrays God,
whether he sees Him or not.
Some who’ve seen God’s curses
and wrath still betray Him.
God says man’s sense and conscience
have lost their function.
God only sees man as a snake,
a beast in human form.
Chorus
Man’s become supremely vicious.
His sense has grown dull,
his conscience, squashed by the evil one,
its original form long destroyed.
Verse 3
Man’s ungrateful to God in flesh
for bestowing life and grace,
resentful that God’s given them truth.
For man has no interest in it.
He can’t lay down his life for God,
but just tries to extract favors,
claiming an interest from God
much greater than what man has given.
Bridge
With such sense and conscience,
man still thinks it no great matter,
they’ve expended much for God,
and God’s given them too little.
How could you gain life
with such humanity and conscience?
What evil wretches you’ve turned out to be!
Chorus
Man’s become supremely vicious.
His sense has grown dull,
his conscience, squashed by the evil one,
its original form long destroyed.
