347 Man’s Inherent Identity and His Worth

Verse 1

You were separated out from mud,

you were picked out from among the dregs.

No matter what, you were of that stuff,

that was filthy and hated by God.

Yes, it’s true, you belonged to Satan,

trampled upon and tainted by it.

That’s why it’s said you were picked out from the mud,

and very far from being holy;

you are instead some non-human things,

long the object of Satan’s trickery.

Chorus

This is the most appropriate way to sum you up.

You were impurities from the very start,

and you were found in stagnant water and mud,

where you weren’t found to be desirable catches,

you were nothing like the fishes and the shrimps,

for nothing enjoyable can come from you.

Verse 2

Your place in a low society

is that of the most debased beasts.

In fact, you are worse than pigs and dogs.

And speaking of you in this way

is not overstatement or hyperbole;

rather, it makes the issue simpler.

Speaking of you in this way

could even be seen as respectful.

Your insight, speech and behavior,

every part of your life, your place in the mud,

Pre-chorus

all are sufficient to prove,

prove that your identity is “out of the ordinary.”

Chorus

This is the most appropriate way to sum you up.

You were impurities from the very start,

and you were found in stagnant water and mud,

where you weren’t found to be desirable catches,

you were nothing like the fishes and the shrimps,

for nothing enjoyable can come from you, from you.
