497 Practicing the Truth Requires a Real Price

Verse 1

When hardships come, begin to pray:

“O God! I wish to satisfy You,

enduring hardship to please Your heart,

no matter how great the setbacks I face.

Even if I must give my life,

still I work to satisfy You.”

With this resolve, when you pray,

you will stand firm in your testimony.

Chorus

Every time truth is put into practice,

each refinement, each time they are tried,

each time God’s work is upon them,

people endure great pain.

This is a test, a battle within,

the true price to be paid.

Verse 2

If there’s something you want to say,

but it doesn’t feel right inside,

if it does not benefit your brothers and sisters,

if they may be hurt, do not say anything,

preferring to be pained and struggle within,

for these words cannot satisfy God’s will.

Chorus

Every time truth is put into practice,

each refinement, each time they are tried,

each time God’s work is upon them,

people endure great pain.

This is a test, a battle within,

the true price to be paid.

Verse 3

The battle inside wages on,

but you are willing to suffer pain,

to give up that which you love,

enduring hardship to satisfy God,

suffering but never giving in to flesh,

satisfying the heart of God,

so you will be comforted as well.

This is paying the price desired by God.

Chorus

Every time truth is put into practice,

each refinement, each time they are tried,

each time God’s work is upon them,

people endure great pain.

This is a test, a battle within,

the true price to be paid, oh,

the true price to be paid.
