Verse 1

Real belief in God

means accepting His word as the reality of your life

and the knowing of God from His word

in order to achieve a true love of Him.

Now to put it clearer: The belief in God

is so you may obey God and love Him,

performing duties that God’s creatures should.

This is the aim of believing in God.

To achieve a knowledge of His loveliness,

of how worthy of reverence He is,

and how, in His creatures, He does the work

of salvation and making them perfect—

this is the minimum

that you should possess in your belief in God.

Believing in God shouldn’t be

something you only do to see,

to behold the signs and wonders,

and neither should it be

just for the sake of your own flesh.

It’s the pursuit of knowing God

and being able to obey,

obeying Him till death, just like Peter did.

This is what it’s mainly to achieve.

Belief in God is mainly the way your life is changed

from life in the flesh to one of loving God,

from a life within corruption

to life within the word of God.

It’s coming out from under the domain of Satan

to live under God’s protection and care,

achieving obedience to God,

and not obedience to the flesh.

It’s letting God gain your entire heart,

it’s allowing God to make you perfect,

and freeing yourself from the corruptness

of a satanic disposition.

Belief in God is mainly

so His power and glory manifests in you.
