How to Pursue the Truth (20) Part Four

Some people have never actually accepted God’s words in the depths of their hearts; they do not accept even a single word of God. When God’s house does not promote or use them, they complain: “How come God doesn’t like me? Why doesn’t God’s house ever promote me or put me in an important position? I understand some truths, I have aspirations and resolve, and I am willing to expend myself for God! I am educated and have strength, and I can suffer and pay a price—so why won’t God’s house give me a chance? Treating me this way is unfair! Others get opportunities, so why don’t I? God is not righteous!” Then why don’t you look at whether you accord with the principles of God’s house for promoting and using people? Your heart is closed off to God, and you are resistant to the words God speaks—have you taken in what God says? Have you ever sought God’s words when you do things? You do not listen to what God’s words say, and you never seek God’s intentions or the truth principles, so how could God’s house use you? Even if God sets up an environment for you, and God’s house gives you a chance to be promoted and used, what work could you be competent in? What work could you shoulder? If such a person were used for church work, they would certainly follow their own will to recklessly commit misdeeds, and cause disruptions and disturbances, which could only lead to one thing: They would be eliminated. There are two reasons people get eliminated: One is being a false leader who cannot do real work, and the other is being an antichrist who recklessly commits misdeeds and does things their own way, not only failing to uphold the interests of God’s house, but also doing evil to disturb and destroy the work of God’s house. Ultimately, both must be eliminated. You never accept the truth, you are averse to reading God’s words, your heart is closed off to God, and you do not seek the truth principles when doing things. Even if God were to treat you with grace and give you a chance, and even if God’s house were to promote and use you, you would not be competent in the work, nor could you undertake any work independently. Ultimately, you would still have to be eliminated. You hope for God’s house to promote and use you, but is your mentality positive? If your aim is not to fulfill your duty, gain the truth, and repay God’s love, then your mentality consists of nothing more than ambitions and desires; this is caused by your arrogant disposition acting up, and God does not accept it. Tell Me, with manifestations like yours, would God’s house dare to use you? If you were used, it would only bring trouble and loss to the church’s work. You can’t do anything well, and after you do something, several people have to remedy the situation and clean up the mess. Therefore, God’s house does not dare to use you. Every item of the church’s work is quite important—can you shoulder them? If something goes wrong, can you take responsibility? You are not competent in the work and cannot shoulder it, yet you still want God’s house to put you in an important position—that’s quite the ambition! If you really want to be promoted to be in charge of church work, then why don’t you think about equipping yourself with more of the truth and understanding more of the truth? Don’t be an enemy to God’s words. Let go of your own so-called correct thoughts and views, and read God’s words earnestly. Even just having an attitude of submission toward God’s words would be good. You don’t even have an attitude of submission toward God’s words, let alone do you accept them. If you don’t accept God’s words but still want to be promoted in God’s house and do church work, then you won’t last a few days before being eliminated. People of this type all seem to have their own aspirations deep in their hearts, but these aspirations can never be realized, and their hearts cannot be satisfied. Although they have believed in God and done their duties in God’s house for many years, and can forsake things and expend themselves, because their hearts are always closed to God and they have a resistant attitude toward the truth, they feel that they have gained nothing after believing in God for so many years. I say, “What you say is quite true; you really haven’t gained anything.” If you had truly gained some truth after believing in God for so many years, that would indeed be precious. If there really were treasures within you, then God’s house would truly like and treasure a person like that. Unfortunately, you are not that kind of person. What you have gained is not the truth, nor is it treasures; rather, what you’ve gained is a head full of grievances, defiance, discontent, and complaints. You say you have gained nothing, and that is correct; that is truly the case. If you really understood some truth and had gained some truth, then you would not have grievances, defiance, complaints, and other such negative things in your heart. Instead, you would have faith in God, understanding of God, consideration for God, submission to God, and fear of God—all these positive things. It is a pity that what is inside you is not positive things, but entirely negative things. Yet you hold onto them tightly, thinking that these things are the most precious; while holding onto them, you think you are in the right and have an excuse. This is a stupid idea. That anger, hatred, judgment, and defiance and resentment of yours are not the truth. They are all things that come from Satan; they are malignant tumors produced from Satan’s corrupt dispositions. You must think of a way to resolve them. These things cannot enable you to attain salvation, nor can they enable you to accept the truth and come before God open and laid bare to become a true created being and accept the Creator’s sovereignty and arrangements. If, on the contrary, you always treasure these things and do not let go of them, it will only cause you to drift further and further from God, and to become ever darker and sink ever lower inside. Ultimately, it will lead you to have less and less faith in God, and to become increasingly repulsed by God’s words, God’s work, God’s requirements, and God’s disposition essence. You believe in God yet are gradually drifting further and further away from Him; this is not a good sign. For you, this is a calamity that will bring utter ruin. You should turn this around and not cling to these things. If you cling to these negative things, it will only steer you toward destruction. You would be better off bringing these things out into the open to dissect them, letting go of them, and accepting the truth. Some people say, “Didn’t You say that people of our type do not have the faculty to accept the truth?” You do not have the faculty to accept the truth, but I am telling you now: The grievances, discontent, defiance, resentment, hatred, and judgment inside you are all things that resist God. If you understand this and can discern the problems inside you, you should let go of these things. Some people say, “I don’t understand the truth, so I don’t know how to let go.” Then do you know how to abide by regulations? Just do whatever God’s words tell you to do. For example, can you refrain from doing evil? Can you refrain from judging God? Can you do more good things? Can you refrain from following evildoers? Can you open your heart to God? Can you report problems to God’s house when you discover them? Can you speak from the heart when praying to God? Can you refrain from being perfunctory in doing your duty? If you can do these things, then there is still hope for you. If you cannot do even these things, then I’ll tell you the truth: You are a write-off. What lies ahead of you is not light but darkness. You are still a person who belongs to Satan, and you cannot be saved.

Even if a person does not understand the truth, if they possess conscience and reason, then they can discern what’s correct and incorrect to a certain extent, no matter what they encounter. However, people without conscience and reason do not know what’s correct and incorrect in many matters, which makes others think they’re very strange. When people interact or handle matters with them, many things do not work with them, and many words don’t get through to them. Moreover, their thoughts and views are very unconventional and extreme, and people find them inconceivable, as though they’ve never lived in the human world. They do not understand many things that are universally recognized as correct; not only can they not approve of or accept them, but they can even express a set of twisted reasoning and heresies. In particular, some people often pull shady maneuvers within a group, sowing discord and misrepresenting facts and falsehoods. It’s as if each day they have nothing proper to attend to; they are either judging this person or judging that matter, and they take pleasure in it. Even if no one pays attention to the things they say, and no one is interested in these things, they still never get tired of saying and doing them. They always sow discord in people’s relationships, judging others and misrepresenting facts and falsehoods behind the scenes. When things don’t go their way, they grumble, complain, and even pass judgment behind people’s backs. Their lives are entirely filled with these things. You never see them fellowshipping on their own understanding—either fellowshipping on the enlightenment and light they have gained from God’s words, or fellowshipping and sharing with everyone their experience in a certain matter. The more it becomes the case that such proper matters are being discussed, the more they become silent, lacking a proactive attitude, and appearing listless and unable to muster any energy. What they are passionate about is sowing discord and misrepresenting facts and falsehoods. Even when discussing some matter, they act like nonbelievers in looking at it from the perspective of right and wrong, correct and incorrect, never discussing any matter in terms of the conscience and reason of normal humanity. They always play the roles of mosquitoes, flies, rats, and so on among groups of people, disturbing and harassing their normal lives. Once they speak and express their views, or evaluate and judge something, people feel averse and disturbed in their hearts, and some people of small stature who do not understand the truth are even misled and constrained by them. These people never play a positive role in a group; they are always gossiping and misrepresenting facts and falsehoods, talking about this person’s faults and then what that person did. Yet they never feel there is anything wrong with doing this; instead, they believe that this is how people should live, and that only by living this way can one be happy and free. They regard this wrong lifestyle and way of handling things as correct, as the lifestyle that people with normal humanity should have, and they do not accept it when others prune and expose them. If their approach doesn’t work in a certain group, they go to another group to find people of their ilk—others who share their foul mindset—to judge rights and wrongs with. Once they find a kindred spirit, they feel that every day of their life is so happy and joyful. In any setting, the role these people play is that of one who misrepresents facts and falsehoods, sows discord, tries to draw people in, and disturbs and attacks people. If you ask them just what ulterior motives they harbor in doing this and what goal they want to achieve, they themselves cannot explain clearly why they do it. They might not have a clear goal, yet the condition in which they typically live is filled with these manifestations and practices. Tell Me, what is the attribute of such people? If you say they have ulterior motives in doing this, they are full of excuses: “I didn’t mean to affect anyone’s performance of duty, I didn’t mean to disturb anyone, and I didn’t mean to disturb the work of God’s house. Can’t I just say what’s on my mind?” When you expose them, they get defiant; they insist on doing it like this, they insist on having their own way, and they insist on living like this among others. Regardless of whom they judge or what facts and falsehoods they misrepresent, is their way of living and conducting themselves correct? (No.) Yet they can take pleasure in it. Would you say the problem with such people is very serious? (Yes.) They are adults, and yet they do not know which words and which actions are right, valuable, meaningful, and constitute attending to proper work, and do not know which actions constitute neglecting proper work—people of this type are for all intents and purposes hoodlums, not normal people. Regardless of whether they cause disturbances to others, given that they live every day in a condition of recklessly committing misdeeds without knowing whether what they’re doing is correct or incorrect, and regard misrepresenting facts and falsehoods and sowing discord as proper work all while having no awareness in their conscience, would you say they have humanity? If they truly had normal humanity, they should know what the principles are that govern speaking and acting, and even more so, they should know that in conducting oneself, one must understand the truth, and that this is people’s greatest need. However, they do not know what people need or what people should do. They do not have normal humanity; they are beasts. Some are even worse than beasts. Look at cats: They sleep and sometimes play during the day, and go catch mice when it gets dark. Mice are harmful to humans, so by catching them cats are doing something beneficial for humans. Or look at how dogs live. Besides playing with their masters, dogs guard the home. As long as a stranger comes by, they start barking to alert their master and guard the home. When their master takes them out, they stay by their master’s side, and if a stranger approaches, they protect their master. They fulfill the role of guarding, the role of watching over the home. Whether cats or dogs, they can all attend to proper work. Of course, animals do this not out of the governing force of conscience but out of instinct. When God created them, He created this instinct and gave them such a mission, and they stick to their mission, and no one can change this. Animals can even fulfill their responsibilities and attend to proper work. If one is a human, at the very least, one must be governed by conscience and reason. One should have standards and a lowest boundary in one’s heart regarding what one should and should not do every day, which actions are related to the truth, and which actions constitute neglecting proper work. These standards and this lowest boundary can be quickly gauged using the conscience and reason of humanity. For example, being dissolute and unrestrained, liking to misrepresent facts and falsehoods, and so on—what kind of people do these things? Normal people can realize: “Those are things done by loafers and hoodlums who neglect proper work. Normal people are far too busy with proper matters; who would do those things? There’s no point in them! Besides, these things of misrepresenting facts and falsehoods and sowing discord are all negative things, they are wrong things. If people have conscience and reason, they should absolutely not do them. Occasionally, there may be a special circumstance of some kind—someone offending you—and you may grumble a few words out of hotheadedness, but you cannot turn this into the norm for your daily life; you cannot treat it as proper work!” This is something which can be gauged using the conscience and reason of a normal person, so they are able to refrain from doing these things. But people who do not possess conscience and reason treat these things as proper work. They do not get anxious or worried about delaying their duty. When they haven’t finished their work and others urge them on, they do not take it seriously. Others are all busy doing their duties, but they pretend not to see this. Whenever they feel like it, they chat idly, either misrepresenting facts and falsehoods or sowing discord. These manifestations are not manifestations of normal humanity, but manifestations of being non-human. As a member of the human race, after reaching adulthood, everyone should ponder some proper matters, such as what outlook on life one should establish, what aspirations and pursuits one should have, what one should believe in, what path one should take, how to live so that there’s value and meaning in this life, and so on—there are too many things one should ponder and understand. This is especially the case after people believe in God and do a duty in God’s house, where the volume of every item of work is large, requiring progress and efficiency to get done. Everyone’s very busy—who has the leisure to misrepresent facts and falsehoods and sow discord? Most people would not spend their time on these things. In addition, most people do not have this hobby; anyone who does appears very peculiar and odd. Those who treat misrepresenting facts and falsehoods and sowing discord as a hobby are non-humans, because their behavior is completely different from that of normal people, and goes against the principles for doing things that normal people should possess. Therefore, such people are wretches who neglect their proper work. The things they do are not what normal people ought to do; the role they play is that of a non-human. Yet they themselves think it is quite good and quite correct. Isn’t this not knowing what’s correct and what’s incorrect? (Yes.)

Some people are always engaging in sneaky and intrusive behavior behind people’s backs. For example, some like to check other people’s private information, such as their personal diaries and spiritual devotion notes. Some like to eavesdrop on others’ prayers, or eavesdrop on others’ conversations to see whether they get mentioned and what others think of them. Some peek at others’ computers to see what messages they have, whom they’re contacting, what songs they’re listening to, and what videos they’re watching, always prying into others’ private lives. There are also some people with sticky fingers who rummage through others’ personal belongings, packages, and even their bedding without permission. They check whatever others eat, wear, or use. If they find something good, they take it and use it, and if using it feels good to them, they treat it as their own. When others buy some snacks or pastries, they sneak a look, and if they find something tasty, they take a bite or a piece. Their purpose is not just to look, but to eat because they’re greedy. If they want to eat, they could ask for some, and no one would laugh at them. But why do they steal others’ food behind their backs? Is it right to do this? (No.) They know it’s wrong but still do it, and do it often, rummaging through others’ things as if they were their own. If discovered, they justify themselves by saying they were just looking, and they don’t feel ashamed by this. When no one is around, they continue to rummage and steal. They have no sense of shame; they don’t even know whether it’s correct or not. What kind of person does such things? Generally, sensible six- or seven-year-old children do not even do these things. If an adult still does them, it’s because they’ve been used to doing them since childhood. It’s like a thief who’s gotten used to stealing and pilfers wherever they go. Even if they lack nothing, they still want to steal; it has become second nature and they cannot stop. Even if they want to stop, they can’t. They are born thieves. Aren’t they non-humans? (Yes.) You are curious and insist on having a look at others’ personal belongings, but what good could looking do? Even if you look, they don’t belong to you, and you can’t acquire them. If you really want to borrow something once, just ask the person, and use it only after they agree. Do things openly and aboveboard; don’t be sneaky. If you want to wear someone else’s clothes, ask them openly to lend them to you. You can only wear them if they agree to lend them to you. If they are reluctantly willing to lend you something they value, this counts as affection between brothers and sisters. If they don’t lend it to you, don’t wear it secretly. Believers in God are all adults, yet some of them are still indecent in how they act, and a few individuals even have sticky fingers. They secretly rummage through others’ things without knowing it’s wrong. Once they’re discovered and others talk about them, they feel no shame, and even think, “So what if I rummaged through your things? You didn’t lose anything! And your things haven’t been set apart as holy, so why can’t I take a look at them?” See, they even use twisted reasoning. This problem is serious; it’s not just an issue with their behavior, but a problem with their humanity essence. And what is the problem with their essence? Such people have no awareness whatsoever when they do wrong. Once someone discovers what they’ve done and corrects them, not only do they not accept it, but they also justify themselves, use twisted reasoning, and persist in doing it that way. This shows they are non-humans. One characteristic of non-humans is that they never admit they’re wrong when they do wrong, have no remorse whatsoever, persist in believing that they’re right, and are full of justifications. That is, they speak of wrong things, distorted things, and twisted and wicked things as correct things. This is taking fallacious reasoning as if it were correct. What such people lack is exactly conscience and reason. People who lack conscience and reason are non-humans. These are precisely the kinds of manifestations that non-humans have. When they secretly rummage through others’ things, no matter how you expose them or fellowship the truth with them, they do not accept it. Not only do they not feel remorse, but they also use twisted reasoning, saying, “I just rummaged through someone’s things—what’s wrong with that? Compared to those who engage in promiscuity, murder, or arson, and have committed every evil act imaginable, I’m the best person there is! Where else could you find a person as good as me?” Is this not utterly unreasonable? (Yes.) If someone does something wrong and stubbornly refuses to admit it, they are beyond hope. Some people commit wrongs so serious that they are unacceptable even assessed using human morality, let alone the truth; their caliber makes them unequipped to realize this. In terms of humanity, once a person lacks conscience and reason, they are non-human. No matter how good, kind, great, or noble you think you are, if you do not have the manifestations of conscience and reason, but instead live out many non-human manifestations, and even have many specific practices and erroneous thoughts and views, then you are non-human. The main characteristics of non-humans are that they do not accept the truth or positive things, but accept erroneous things as correct viewpoints, and can even confuse right and wrong and turn black into white to mislead people.
