How Leaders and Workers Should Do Church Work (4)

Fellowship From the Brother Above – February 2, 2026 (Part Three)

Question 5: Some time ago, the Above mentioned cultivating a few experts at testifying. What are the main things that should be cultivated in an expert at testifying? What should be cultivated first?

Answer: Cultivating an expert at testifying is mainly about cultivating them to resolve the notions of religious people. Previously, God’s house issued a document entitled God’s Words Addressing Common Religious Notions. This is a gospel resource specifically for resolving the notions of religious people. It resolves the most common and widespread notions and questions in the religious world. Whoever you are preaching the gospel to, it is basically a matter of fellowshipping to resolve these notions and problems. If you can fellowship on these notions clearly based on the Bible and God’s words, then you have become an expert at preaching the gospel. Some people say, “I know how to resolve these notions, but I haven’t become an expert or converted many people.” That is an issue with your caliber. If your caliber is poor and you lack wisdom in preaching the gospel, you won’t be able to convert people. Therefore, if you want to become an expert at preaching the gospel, just knowing how to resolve notions is not enough. You must also have wisdom and know what methods yield the best results when preaching the gospel to different kinds of people. You must also know how to interact with people and how to converse with them. If your way of speaking is good, and people like and agree with what you say, and are willing to listen to you, does this not make you an expert? (It does.) Then tell me, do you consider me an expert at resolving the church’s problems? (We do.) But was I born an expert? (No.) No one is born an expert. I became an expert from training myself through the guidance, enlightenment, and illumination of the Holy Spirit over many years of practice. Becoming an expert at preaching the gospel is the same. You must train yourself more and learn more, and have the resolve to keep learning as long as you live. By training yourself like this for a year or two, you will be able to resolve all the common questions religious people have. When you can also speak with wisdom and tact, you will become an expert at preaching the gospel. So what is the first step in training to become an expert at preaching the gospel? First, train in resolving the various notions of religious people. If you can resolve the twenty or so most common notions encountered when preaching the gospel, and you are eloquent and tactful, then after training for a period of time, you will become an expert. To become an expert at preaching the gospel, you have to train yourself; you must train yourself more. If you have preached to thirty people, then you will have interacted with just about every kind of person, and you will have amassed a general level of experience. Then you will have become an expert at preaching the gospel. It’s that simple. Some people say, “You say preaching to thirty people can make me an expert, but I’ve preached to fifty people and still haven’t become an expert. What am I lacking?” The main thing you are lacking is that you do not know how to resolve problems using multiple methods. A true expert has more than one method—at least two or three—to resolve any notion or problem. Knowing only one method will not do. If you only know one method, it may be effective for a certain type of person but ineffective for others. Therefore, you must know how to use multiple methods to resolve a notion; you must adopt different ways of speaking for different people. Only in this way is it easy to achieve results. If you try to use the same method on everyone, then it will not work on some people, and you will fail in preaching the gospel. Therefore, to cultivate experts at preaching the gospel, you must train people to resolve problems using multiple methods. Actually, it’s the same when cultivating leaders and workers. You must get them to learn several methods for hosting gatherings. If someone’s method of hosting gatherings is good and relatively flexible, and everyone likes listening and gains quite a lot from the gatherings they host, then others should learn from this method and host gatherings in the same way. Remember: You should use whatever method gets good results. There are no regulations whatsoever. As long as a method can bring the brothers and sisters many gains, and help them achieve the result of understanding the truth and knowing themselves more quickly, it is a good method. You see, the gatherings held by those pastors and elders in the religious world are always full of the same old cliches, and they always run a one-man show. Thus, the results of their gatherings are poor, and the brothers and sisters get no enjoyment from them and gain nothing. Many people just play on their phones or doze off in the pews. The pastors and elders see it but do nothing about it; in fact, they don’t dare to do anything about it. They are afraid that if they do, people will stop coming to the gatherings, and they will become commanders without an army, with no one following them. Is that not so? (It is.) So do you now have a path for cultivating and training people? (We do.) You must know how to draw lessons. This is crucial. People who know how to draw lessons are people of good caliber. People who do not know how to draw lessons and always abide by regulations are people without caliber. They cannot accomplish anything.

Question 6: Some leaders and workers have some difficulties with life entry. They do not really know how to identify their revelations of corruption and reflect on and know themselves in light of God’s words. As a result, they live within their corrupt dispositions and affect the work without even realizing it. How can we help them focus on knowing themselves and resolving their corrupt dispositions?

Answer: How do you help people know themselves and resolve their corrupt dispositions? Do you know how to share experiential testimonies of knowing yourself? If you want to lead brothers and sisters to know themselves and gain life entry, you must first talk about how you came to know yourself, teaching them how to know themselves by talking about your own experience. Whatever they lack, you should first set an example for them; this will make it easier for them to learn. For example, some people always do what they want, and they host gatherings without principle. How should you fellowship with them? You should talk to them about how you came to know yourself, saying, “I used to handle matters without principle too, and I did things entirely as I wanted. I thought it was right to spout words and doctrines in gatherings. When I spouted words and doctrines, everyone said it was good and approved of it. I felt great enjoyment in my heart, and thought that these gatherings got good results. In fact, I was just doing what I wanted. These gatherings didn’t actually get good results, and other people gained nothing. Getting a good result from fellowshipping in gatherings does not mean you spouting a set of theories and everyone approving of them so you think you’ve achieved your purpose. Rather, it is about helping brothers and sisters to learn how to reflect on themselves, know their corrupt dispositions, experience God’s words, and experience judgment and chastisement. That is what achieving a good result is really like.” By fellowshipping on knowing yourself in this way, are you not helping them know themselves? (Yes.) This is practical help. If they have comprehension ability and are willing to pursue the truth, they will be able to measure themselves against your fellowship and come to know themselves when they hear it. Some people reveal corruption but do not know themselves. They say, “What corruption have I revealed in doing my duty every day? I haven’t done anything bad!” How should you help such a person know themselves? In their notions, they think, “As long as I haven’t done anything bad or done evil, I haven’t revealed any corrupt dispositions.” Is this not an erroneous view? (It is.) There are some bad things and some evils that, in people’s notions, are not considered bad things—people might even think they are good things. For example, say they promote someone to be a leader just because they want to, and that person is highly enthusiastic and a smooth talker. If you say that their promotion of this person violates the principles, would they be able to realize it? They wouldn’t realize it at all. They would say, “What’s wrong with me promoting someone with enthusiasm who is earnest in their pursuit? They have gifts and strengths, so shouldn’t they be promoted?” You see, they argue their case with such confidence! They feel that they are right, and that anyone who hears them will be convinced. Then you must expose them, “Can you really say for certain that they are someone who pursues the truth just because they are enthusiastic? How have you verified that they are someone who pursues the truth?” If you ask this, they will be stumped. You can then continue, “In promoting a leader, looking only at whether someone is enthusiastic will not do; you must also look at whether they have the ability to comprehend the truth. If they understand no truth at all, then they do not have spiritual understanding and have a blind enthusiasm. They can treat devils and Satans as brothers and sisters, treat antichrists as idols, and constantly cause disruptions and disturbances. Tell me, is this enthusiasm of theirs a good thing or a bad thing?” Therefore, do not think that enthusiastic people are people who pursue the truth. Being enthusiastic does not equate to pursuing the truth. If enthusiastic people do not understand the truth, they are capable of doing many bad things. Let’s give an example. When the Lord Jesus appeared and worked, all that He expressed was the truth. Not only did the Pharisees not accept Him, but they also condemned and blasphemed Him, saying that the Lord Jesus spoke words of blasphemy and that He cast out demons by the prince of demons. In the end, they nailed the Lord Jesus to the cross. From the outside, the Pharisees had such great enthusiasm, and they often explained the Bible to people. But when God came, they didn’t recognize Him, and instead resisted and condemned Him. Are these not the actions of people who do not have spiritual understanding? (They are.) Tell me, are highly enthusiastic people capable of committing great evil if they do not understand the truth? Are they capable of doing things that resist God? (They are.) They are more than capable of it! Therefore, when you meet highly enthusiastic people, you must be cautious and see if they have discernment and whether they understand the truth principles. If they do not understand the truth principles, all they will do in their work is create disruptions and disturbances. Is that not so? (It is.) Then what kind of people should be cultivated to be leaders and workers? You must cultivate those with comprehension ability. How can you tell if someone has comprehension ability? By looking at how they comprehend others’ fellowship on the truth. If they don’t merely comprehend the superficial meaning of the truth, but can discover new light within the truth, have some new, substantive understanding of the truth, and can speak of the reality of the truth, then they have comprehension ability. In addition, people with comprehension ability also possess discernment; they are born with discernment. If a person is born without discernment but is particularly enthusiastic, then they are dangerous. They must not be promoted or cultivated, and you must also guard against them; otherwise, they will cause trouble. Tell me, what other mistakes are highly enthusiastic people with no comprehension ability prone to making? (Creating disruptions and disturbances.) Because they do not have spiritual understanding and lack comprehension ability, they are prone to causing disruptions and disturbances. It’s like how if you ask some people to plant chives, they’ll plant wheat, and if you ask them to plant wheat, they’ll plant chives. Because they can’t discern, they cannot tell the difference between chives and wheat seedlings. Highly enthusiastic people with no comprehension ability have no discernment. They are all brawn and no brains. Is it appropriate for you to make them church leaders? (No.) They have no discernment, and they cannot see through to the essence of the things they encounter, so they are prone to creating disruptions and disturbances. Therefore, those who serve as church leaders must have discernment. If they inherently possess discernment, they will view people in a different way to ordinary people. By looking at a person’s facial features, they can see what that person’s disposition is like and what shortcomings they have. No matter how well someone packages themselves outwardly, they can still spot a giveaway; no matter how nice their words sound on the outside, they can still see through their schemes. Such a person has discernment and knows how to view things. Thus, people of good caliber inherently possess a certain level of discernment. Say a person with discernment goes shopping, and there are many fake goods mixed in with the genuine items. They will ponder how to distinguish the genuine goods from the fake ones. They will be able to figure out a method, identify the fakes, and buy the genuine goods. Therefore, it is actually very simple to judge whether a person’s caliber is good. If you cannot tell what their comprehension ability is like, then look at whether they have discernment; you will be able to judge just as accurately. If they have discernment, then their caliber is good. I tell you, possessing discernment is extremely important. You see, some people do not know how to discern, and when they look for a partner, they just want someone good-looking; the more good-looking, the better. Are such people foolish? (They are.) In what way are they foolish? Does a good-looking face mean a kind heart? Does it mean the person has caliber? Does it mean that they are a positive individual? (It doesn’t.) Many devils are good-looking. If you look for a partner only based on their outward appearance and do not consider what their character is like, and you end up getting together with a devil, you will be in trouble, and you can forget about living a good life for the rest of your days. Therefore, people who lack discernment are in great danger.

Question 7: I am a gospel director. When I point out the problems gospel preachers have in their duty and share methods for improvement, they can accept them at the time, but afterward, they don’t really apply them and instead just stick to their old methods. This means the results they achieve in their duty are less than ideal. I would like to ask what corrupt disposition lies behind this attitude. How should I fellowship the truth so that they can better accept pointers and help from others?

Answer: There can be different reasons for someone not accepting your pointers and help. One possibility is that the person is arrogant and self-righteous and clings to their own views; they always think they are right. Even though they pay lip service and admit that what you say is right, in their heart they are thinking, “What you say is not as right as what I say; my method is still better.” This is what arrogant and self-righteous people are like. They know in their heart that what you say is right, but they still think their own method is pretty good, and that it’s better to do it their way and not yours. Therefore, they do not accept your method and still stick to their old ways. This is clinging to their own views. There is another possibility: They acknowledge in theory that the method you suggest is right, but they are of poor caliber and do not know how to apply it. It’s just like how many people understand a bit of the truth but cannot manage to act according to principles. This is not being able to apply the truth principles. Tell me, are there not these two possible reasons for this problem? One is that they are arrogant and self-righteous and cling to their own views, and the other is that they understand what you say is right but do not know how to apply and practice it. Since there are these two possibilities, you must first talk with them to verify things. Once you have figured out exactly which one applies to them, you can then resolve the problem in a targeted manner. So how do you verify this? You can ask them, “Why haven’t you used the method I taught you?” If they say, “Your method is quite good. I do want to use it, but I don’t know how. I’m afraid that if I don’t apply it well, I won’t be able to proceed, so I just kept using my old method,” then the second possibility applies—they do not know how to apply and practice good methods. It’s like asking someone to use a new machine. The new machine is certainly better than the old one, but after trying to figure it out for a long time, this person still doesn’t know how to use it. They are afraid that messing around with it will break the machine, so they just keep using the old one, intending to use the new machine only when they have learned what to do. In this situation, you must teach them how to apply and practice the good methods and explain the path clearly. Then, the next time something comes up, they will be able to apply and practice them. If, after you talk with them, they speak from the heart and say, “Your method doesn’t work; my method is the right one!” then you should ask them, “On what basis do you say your method is right?” If they can’t tell you their basis and just cling to their own views, saying, “Mine is right and that’s that!” then you have found the problem: They are arrogant and self-righteous, and cannot accept new things. So, there are two possible reasons for someone being unable to accept new things: One is that they are arrogant and self-righteous, cling to their own views, and do not accept new things. No matter how right others are, they will not accept what they say. The other is that they are unable to grasp new things. They feel that the path you speak of is too profound, and they cannot grasp it. So what is the problem with being unable to grasp these things? It is poor caliber. People of good caliber understand something as soon as you explain it to them. They intuitively grasp it and can apply it immediately. But people of poor caliber cannot grasp the principles, so you have to teach them using simple methods, methods they can easily understand. If you have explained the path clearly to them but they still cannot learn it, do not know how to apply and practice it, and still use their old methods, this shows that their caliber is too poor and they truly cannot grasp new things. So what should you do in this situation? If they are really holding up the work, then they should be dismissed. If the work they are doing is not too important and it is fine for them to use their old method, then you can just make do with them. However, a better solution would be to cultivate someone of good caliber.

If a leader or a worker simply does not accept the principles no matter how you fellowship on them, what is the problem? There are generally two possibilities: One is that they do not have spiritual understanding and cannot attain the truth principles; the other is that they are arrogant and self-righteous and cling to their own views. So, you must analyze the matter thoroughly to see exactly which situation applies. If they are arrogant and self-righteous and consistently refuse to accept the truth principles, then they should be dismissed and replaced with someone who can accept the truth. If it is because you didn’t explain things thoroughly to them before and they still don’t understand the truth principles, then you should try explaining things to them thoroughly again. If they can practice according to the truth principles after you’ve explained things thoroughly, then it shows that they hadn’t practiced them because you didn’t initially explain things thoroughly enough. In the future, whenever you encounter this kind of problem again, you must explain the principles thoroughly to people. Some people are of good caliber and get things right away so you don’t need to explain things too thoroughly to them—just touching upon the point will achieve the result. Some people are of somewhat poorer caliber, so you must say more and repeat things. Only when you explain things thoroughly can they learn. In this situation, if you treat everyone as if they are of good caliber, and out of laziness and a desire to save effort, you only touch upon things without explaining the truth principles thoroughly or giving many examples and analogies, then you are sure to get no results in your work. This is because most people are of average caliber—everything must be explained repeatedly, in detail, and you need to put effort into doing so. You must explain things to them as thoroughly as possible. Only in this way can you achieve results. As the saying goes, “Kindred spirits understand each other instantly.” What does this mean? (People who have spiritual understanding have good comprehension ability.) People who have the work of the Holy Spirit are of good caliber and get things straight away; they can understand with just a single sentence or a hint. People who don’t have the work of the Holy Spirit do not have spiritual understanding. They are of poor caliber and do not seek the truth. If you say too little, they will not understand, so you have to say a whole lot. If you are too lazy to say that much and think, “I always achieve results just by saying a few words to other people, so why must I say a whole lot to them? I don’t have the time or the patience for that,” then that’s a problem, and the results of your work are guaranteed to be poor. You must be patient in your work. No matter which aspect of the truth principles you are fellowshipping on, you must speak more, speak in detail, and speak tirelessly. Even if you have run out of patience, you still must speak more. Because most people are of poor caliber, they will not understand you if you do not speak in detail. Do not think that most people are of good caliber; this does not align with the facts. If you hold this view, you are wrong, and you will not be able to do your work well. Remember, most people are of poor caliber, or at most of average caliber. Therefore, you must treat them as having average caliber. Once you see this matter clearly, you will be able to speak more and in greater detail. If some people cannot even reach the level of average caliber, then you must make a special effort when speaking to them and say a whole lot. Once you have spoken to a certain extent, you should ask them, “Did you understand what I just said?” If they say they understood, you can then ask, “Then tell me, what did you understand?” This is because some people say they understand even though they haven’t actually truly understood. In this situation, you must “strike the bell to hear it ring,” as the saying goes—have them talk about what they understood. They only truly understand it if they can articulate it. If they cannot articulate it or speak in a muddled way, then they haven’t understood, and you must continue explaining and say more. You must have patience in your work. Without patience, you will never achieve any results.
