Chen Jing is arrested by the Chinese Communist Party for believing in God. The evil police inflict cruel torture on her, and during a beating she is struck on the head with a club, paralyzing one side of her body. After entering prison, because she does not receive treatment and is also abused by the prison guards, Chen Jing's condition worsens; not only does she lose her memory, but she even becomes mentally impaired, and is unable to take care of herself. The prison doctor diagnoses that she won't make it past three months. Facing the pronouncement of death, who is it that accompanies Chen Jing through this most difficult period of her life?
