334 When God’s Day Comes
Verse 1
Many have conditions for serving God:
They don’t care if He’s God or man,
they only talk of their own terms
and pursue their own desires.
Verse 2
You work for Him, then demand a fee,
even for pounding the pavement.
You provide for the church then ask for repayment.
Even those God has dealt with press for recompense.
Pre-chorus 1
This is your mighty and lofty humanity.
Your warm conscience dictates these actions.
Where is your sense? Where is your humanity?
Chorus
The day God turns His back you’ll die,
forsaken by light, darkness will arrive.
When His day comes He’ll rain down flames
on the disobedient who provoked His wrath.
Verse 3
He will punish all who forsook and cursed Him,
burning with the fires of His anger
those who ate and lived with Him
but insulted and betrayed Him.
Pre-chorus 2
Yes, those who provoked His anger
will suffer His wrathful punishment,
along with beasts who thought they were His equal,
yet did not worship or obey Him.
Chorus
The day God turns His back you’ll die,
forsaken by light, darkness will arrive.
When His day comes He’ll rain down flames
on the disobedient who provoked His wrath.
Bridge
Those animals who enjoyed His care and words
and who once tried to take material pleasures from Him,
He’ll strike them with His rod.
He will forgive none of them for trying to take His place.
He’ll spare none who try to take food and clothes from Him.
Chorus
The day God turns His back you’ll die,
forsaken by light, darkness will arrive.
When His day comes He’ll rain down flames
on the disobedient who provoked His wrath, His wrath.
