324 The Despicable Intentions Behind Man’s Belief in God

Verse 1

God’s deeds are greater in numbers

than the grains of the sands on the beaches,

and His wisdom surpasses

all the sons of Solomon,

yet people merely think of Him

as a physician of small account,

an unknown teacher of man.

Pre-chorus

So many only believe in God that He might heal them,

or that He might drive unclean spirits out from their bodies,

and many so that they might receive peace and joy from Him,

and many that they might demand greater wealth from Him.

So many believe in God just to spend this life in peace,

they believe to be safe and sound in the world to come.

Chorus

Thus, God says that man has faith in Him

because He gives too much grace,

and God says that man has faith in Him

as there’s far too much to gain.

Verse 2

So many just believe in God

to avoid the suffering of hell

and receive the blessings of heaven.

So many just believe in Him

only for temporary comfort,

yet don’t seek to gain anything

in the world that is to come.

Chorus

Thus, God says that man has faith in Him

because He gives too much grace,

and God says that man has faith in Him

as there’s far too much to gain.

Bridge

When God brought down His fury upon man,

seized all the joy and peace that he possessed,

man became doubtful.

When God gave to man the suffering of hell

and reclaimed the blessings of heaven,

man’s shame turned to anger.

Chorus

Thus, God says that man has faith in Him

because He gives too much grace,

and God says that man has faith in Him

as there’s far too much to gain.

Verse 3

When man asked God to heal him,

God loathed him and paid him no heed,

so man left Him to seek the way

of evil medicine and sorcery.

When God took everything away,

all that man had demanded from Him,

they disappeared without a trace.

Chorus

Thus, God says that man has faith in Him

because He gives too much grace,

and God says that man has faith in Him

as there’s far too much to gain.
