142 Do You Dare Assert God’s Name Can Never Change?

Verse 1

Some say the name of God doesn’t change.

Why, then, did Jehovah become Jesus?

It was prophesied the Messiah would come,

so why did a man named Jesus come?

Why was God’s name changed before?

Can God not do new work today?

Chorus

God will always be God.

Though His work and name might change,

His disposition and wisdom will never change.

God will always be God.

Though His work and name might change,

His disposition and wisdom

will never change, will never change.

Verse 2

Past work can be altered

and work of Jesus continued from Jehovah.

Can’t other work follow Jesus’ work

and the name of Jesus be changed?

If Jehovah’s name can be changed to Jesus,

can’t Jesus’ name be changed too?

None of this is odd;

it’s just that people are so simple-minded.

Chorus

God will always be God.

Though His work and name might change,

His disposition and wisdom will never change.

God will always be God.

Though His work and name might change,

His disposition and wisdom will never change.

Bridge

If you believe God can only be called Jesus,

your knowledge is too narrow.

Dare you say that Jesus will forever be

the unchanging name of God,

that Jesus’ name ending the Age of Law

will also end the final age?

Who can say the grace of Jesus

can bring the age to an end?

Chorus

God will always be God.

Though His work and name might change,

His disposition and wisdom will never change.

God will always be God.

Though His work and name might change,

His disposition and wisdom will never change,

will never change, will never change.
