409 People Don’t Truly Believe in God

Verse 1

Man has gained and forsaken much in My many years of work,

yet I still say that man does not truly believe in Me.

Man says that I am God while opposing My truths,

and not practicing the truth I require of them.

Pre-chorus 1

Man concedes to God’s existence,

but not truth or life,

only acknowledging His name,

but not His essence.

Chorus

Man’s zeal has made them loathsome to Me.

They use pleasing words to deceive Me,

and none of them worship Me

with a true heart, with a true heart.

Verse 2

Your speech holds the temptations of the serpent itself,

haughty to the extreme, like the words of the archangel.

Your deeds are disgraceful; your desires and coveting, foul.

You’ve become moths in My house, objects to be thrown away.

Pre-chorus 2

For you love not truth, but blessings;

you wish to ascend to heaven,

and to see the wondrous vision

of Christ wielding power on earth.

Chorus

Man’s zeal has made them loathsome to Me.

They use pleasing words to deceive Me,

and none of them worship Me

with a true heart, with a true heart.

Bridge

You’re so deeply corrupted, and so ignorant of God;

do you think someone like you is worthy to follow God?

How could you reach heaven, see such glorious sights,

which are without precedent in their splendor?

Chorus

Man’s zeal has made them loathsome to Me.

They use pleasing words to deceive Me,

and none of them worship Me

with a true heart, with a true heart.
