Disabled Christian Unlawfully Sentenced to Six and a Half Years by the CCP

December 20, 2025

Li Xiu (pseudonym), female, born in 1986, is a Christian from The Church of Almighty God (CAG) in Fujian Province. She has suffered from polio since childhood, leaving her legs with a 10-centimeter length difference and making normal walking impossible. She relies on crutches and leg braces for basic daily living. On November 2, 2024, Li Xiu was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police because of her faith in God. As a church leader, she was later sentenced to six years and six months in prison.

Li Xiu was arrested at a relative’s home on November 2, 2024. According to an informed source, Li Xiu had long been under police surveillance. After discovering that she was a church leader, the police pressured her to disclose church information. When she refused, officers immediately confiscated her crutches and leg braces, leaving her unable to walk or care for herself. To force her to confess her religious activities, the police subjected Li Xiu to continuous interrogation for ten days and nights without allowing her to sleep. She endured extreme physical and mental suffering. Without her crutches and braces, she was unable to attend to even her most basic needs. When the interrogation finally ended and she was carried out, her body was extremely weak. Due to her prolonged inability to care for herself, she emitted a strong odor, and her health was severely damaged. When CCP police brought Li Xiu to the detention center, even other detainees cursed the CCP for being so heartless. Her parents attempted to secure her release on bail pending trial through personal connections, but the police refused. Officers told her parents: “This time, the province has established a special task force specifically targeting The Church of Almighty God for a unified arrest campaign against Christians. Li Xiu is a church leader—no one dares to intervene.” In November 2025, Li Xiu was sentenced to six years and six months in prison. Her parents are overwhelmed with pain and worry. Through tears, her mother said, “Li Xiu is disabled. I usually even help her buy her medicine. How can she survive six and a half years in prison?”

In the eyes of her younger sister, Li Xiu is a kind and gentle person. Already living a far more difficult life than others because of her disability, she was arrested, interrogated, and tortured by CCP police solely for remaining steadfast in her faith. Her sister said angrily, “Believing in God is not a crime! My sister walks the right path in life and has broken no laws. Yet they arrested her, fabricated charges, and sentenced her to six and a half years. During the interrogations, they used severe torture to extract information. They did not even respect basic human rights—they did not treat Christians as human beings at all!”
