810 Peter Always Pursued Knowing God

Verse 1

When Peter first followed Jesus,

he believed He was sent by God.

He saw Jesus as an apostle

but did not see Him as the Christ.

Peter had experienced the words of God

and had dealt with himself;

though he had endured hardship for God,

he did not know God’s work.

Verse 2

After a time of experience,

Peter saw in Jesus many deeds of God.

He beheld God’s loveliness

and saw much of God in Him.

He saw the words that Jesus spoke

could not have come from man;

he saw that the work that Jesus did

could not have been done by man.

Chorus

In Jesus’ words and deeds,

Peter saw God’s wisdom revealed.

In Jesus’ words and deeds,

much divine work could be seen.

Verse 3

Through experience, Peter came to know

much more than just himself.

He watched Jesus’ every move

and discovered many new things:

Jesus had many expressions of the practical God;

Jesus was more than an ordinary man

in His words and work, and actions,

and in the way He shepherded the churches.

Bridge

Peter learned from Jesus many necessary things.

Before Jesus went to the cross,

he gained some knowledge of Jesus,

which led to a lifetime loyalty to Him.

Peter was crucified upside-down for the Lord,

he suffered for the sake of the Lord.

Chorus

In Jesus’ words and deeds,

Peter saw God’s wisdom revealed.

In Jesus’ words and deeds,

much divine work could be seen.

In Jesus’ words and deeds,

Peter saw God’s wisdom revealed.

In Jesus’ words and deeds,

much divine work could be seen.
