819 Do You Know the Purpose and Meaning of God’s Work?
Verse 1
Do you truly know why you believe in God?
The purpose of His work and your duty?
Do you know God’s glory and His testimony?
If you don’t have both, you’ve been left behind.
The know-it-alls are thorns in His eye,
useless obstacles in God’s house,
tares to be winnowed out in His work.
God has long abhorred them.
Chorus
You should now know how to satisfy God
and set on the right track in faith in Him.
God desires your loyalty and obedience,
your love and testimony.
If you know not how to love and bear witness,
you should bring to Him your all,
turn over your only treasures:
your loyalty and obedience.
Verse 2
Often God’s wrath befalls all bereft of testimony,
His rod never strays; they’re without blessings,
turned over to the evil one.
Their chastisement will be much worse
than that of foolish women.
God bundles all wheat and weeds in His work today.
The tares shall be winnowed
in the time of His winnowing.
The wheat will be gathered and stored,
the weeds will be burned and made into dust.
Chorus
You should now know how to satisfy God
and set on the right track in faith in Him.
God desires your loyalty and obedience,
your love and testimony.
If you know not how to love and bear witness,
you should bring to Him your all,
turn over your only treasures:
your loyalty and obedience.
Bridge
God’s work is to bind all men into bundles
and fully conquer them.
Then He’ll begin winnowing away
to reveal the end of man.
Chorus
You should now know how to satisfy God
and set on the right track in faith in Him.
God desires your loyalty and obedience,
your love and testimony.
If you know not how to love and bear witness,
you should bring to Him your all,
turn over your only treasures:
your loyalty and obedience.
