Christian Devotional Song | "Forsake the Flesh to See God's Loveliness"

Verse 1

If it is true that you love God,

if you don’t satisfy the flesh,

you’ll see that everything God does,

it is so right and is so good.

His curse of your rebelliousness

and judgment of your unrighteousness,

it is right and it is truly justified.

God will temper you at times by raising up environments.

And He’ll discipline and chasten you,

forcing you to come before Him.

And you’ll feel His deeds are wonderful,

that there isn’t too much pain.

You will feel all of the loveliness of God.

Chorus

You must rebel against the flesh and not pander to it.

You must have this resolve, “My family and prospects—

none of these things matter.

In my heart there’s only God.

I must try my best to satisfy Him

and not satisfy the flesh.”

Verse 2

If you pander to flesh’s weakness

and you say God goes too far,

you will always feel in pain,

and sadness will keep finding you.

You’ll be unclear about God’s work

and lose sight of His sympathy

to the weakness and the difficulties of man.

You’ll feel miserable and lonely,

like your suffering is unjust.

And it will be that you’ll cry out and complain.

Chorus

You must rebel against the flesh and not pander to it.

You must have this resolve, “My family and prospects—

none of these things matter.

In my heart there’s only God.

I must try my best to satisfy Him

and not satisfy the flesh.”

Bridge

The more you give in to weakness of the flesh,

the more you’ll feel that God has gone too far,

until you reach the point

where you deny His work and oppose Him,

until you become full of disobedience.

Chorus

You must rebel against the flesh and not pander to it.

You must have this resolve, “My family and prospects—

none of these things matter.

In my heart there’s only God.

I must try my best to satisfy Him

and not satisfy the flesh.”
