Just when the protagonist was selected to be a church leader, the CCP began a campaign of mass arrests of The Church of Almighty God members. This worried her and she wished to get out of her duties. Through reading Almighty God's word, she realized how selfish and lacking in faith in God she was and so she prayed to God, repented and accepted His commission. Later on, when a sister was followed by the police, the books of God's word left in her apartment needed to be removed quickly. Faced with this task, the protagonist again was reluctant.
