His parents divorced when he was three years old, and his stepmother treated him as her own. He aspired to honor his parents when he grew up and repay them for their kindness in raising him. Later, due to his faith in God, he was arrested by the police. The police exploited his affection for his parents to lure him into selling out the church, causing him to nearly betray God. Through reading God's words, he came to understand that his parents were not his creditors and recognized the harm and consequences that affection could bring. He then broke free from the bondage of affection and gained release and freedom.
