Because of her faith, the main character is arrested by Communist Party police, and then is subjected to interrogation through torture. The police beat her, threaten her, deprive her of food and sleep, and say vile things to humiliate her. They burn her arms with lit cigarettes and forcefully pour water into her mouth for over 10 minutes straight. She is beaten to the point that she is seriously wounded, and an artery in her left leg is ruptured. She is unable to take care of herself. But through God's words, she gains faith and strength, and swears to never fold to Satan. After her release, she sees God's wondrous deeds through her miraculous recovery after a month of treatment.
