612 What It Takes to Be One Who Serves God

Verse 1

If you want to be effective

in eating and drinking God’s words,

you must let go of all religious notions.

If you wish to serve God, it’s even more so,

and you must obey the words of God in everything.

Verse 2

If you don’t know this,

then as you serve you will cause disruption.

If this goes on, you’ll be knocked down, rise no more.

God’s work now differs from before and the Bible;

if you can’t obey, you could fall at any time.

Chorus

What it takes to be someone who serves God

is to be someone who can follow God’s heart,

someone who is fit for God’s use,

is able to relinquish all religious notions.

That’s what it takes to serve God.

Verse 3

To serve according to God’s will,

rectify your own views.

What will be said won’t match what’s been said.

If you do not have the will to obey,

you’re unable to walk the path that lies ahead.

Chorus

What it takes to be someone who serves God

is to be someone who can follow God’s heart,

someone who is fit for God’s use,

is able to relinquish all religious notions.

That’s what it takes to serve God.

Bridge

If one of God’s ways of working takes root inside of you,

and you never let it go, it’ll become your notion.

If what God is takes root in you,

then you have gained the truth.

If God’s words and truth become your life,

you’ll have no more notions of God.

When you have true knowledge of God,

you won’t abide by doctrine.

Chorus

What it takes to be someone who serves God

is to be someone who can follow God’s heart,

someone who is fit for God’s use,

is able to relinquish all religious notions.

That’s what it takes to serve God.
