151 The Work of the Flesh and the Spirit Is of the Same Essence
Verse 1
Christ is the One who’s the incarnate God.
He’s the flesh that is donned by God’s Spirit.
This flesh is not like any man of flesh,
He’s not of flesh and blood, but the Spirit incarnate.
He’s both human and completely divine.
His humanity sustains His human life;
His divinity carries out God’s own work.
Verse 2
They both submit to the will of the Father.
Christ is divine, and His essence is the Spirit.
So His essence is that of God Himself;
by this essence His work won’t be interrupted,
nothing He does could ever destroy it,
His words would not contradict His own will.
This is what every man must understand.
Chorus
Both the Spirit and the flesh
manage the same work,
both the Spirit and the flesh
work to satisfy one will.
Though the Spirit and the flesh
have different qualities,
they both have God’s own essence
and His identity.
Verse 3
The Holy Spirit’s work is saving man,
it is done for God’s own management’s sake.
The work of Christ is also to save man,
and it is done for God’s own will’s sake.
God becomes flesh, and His essence is within it,
and so this means His flesh is sufficient
for Him to take on the work He wants to do.
Verse 4
That’s why the work of God’s Spirit is replaced
by the work of Christ during incarnation.
The core work during incarnation is Christ’s.
It can’t be mixed with work from other ages.
God’s Spirit can do the work of salvation;
when God becomes flesh, He can still work to save man.
No matter what, God always does His own work.
Chorus
Both the Spirit and the flesh
manage the same work,
both the Spirit and the flesh
work to satisfy one will.
Though the Spirit and the flesh
have different qualities,
they both have God’s own essence
and His identity.
Bridge/Outro
God neither interferes nor interrupts.
In His work there’s no conflict, they’re similar:
the essence of the work the Spirit does
and the essence of the flesh’s work.
Chorus
Both the Spirit and the flesh
manage the same work,
both the Spirit and the flesh
work to satisfy one will.
Though the Spirit and the flesh
have different qualities,
they both have God’s own essence
and His identity.
