963 God Brooks No Offense
Verse 1
To understand God’s righteous disposition,
one must understand His feelings:
what He hates, loathes and loves,
who He gives His mercy to.
Chorus
One must understand no matter the love of God,
no matter His mercy and love for people,
God does not tolerate those who offend His status,
nor those who offend His dignity.
Verse 2
Though God loves people, He doesn’t spoil them.
He gives people love, mercy and tolerance,
but He’s never pandered to them;
He has principles and limits.
Verse 3
No matter the extent or depth of God’s love
in you that you feel,
you mustn’t treat God like another person,
or God will hide His face and forsake you.
Verse 4
Though it’s true God treats people as close to Him,
if you see Him as one of creation,
as a friend or an object of worship,
God will hide His face and forsake you.
Pre-chorus
This is His disposition, and this issue,
no one shall take it carelessly.
Chorus
One must understand no matter the love of God,
no matter His mercy and love for people,
God does not tolerate those who offend His status,
nor those who offend His dignity.
Verse 4
It’s often said of God’s disposition in His word:
It doesn’t matter how much work you’ve done,
how much suffering you’ve endured,
you’ll be repaid as long as you offend Him.
Verse 5
When people offend God, it may not be
because of one instance or thing they’ve said,
but rather due to an attitude
and a state that they are in.
Bridge
This is a very frightening thing.
Don’t forget, no matter how God treats people,
His position, authority and status don’t change.
For mankind, God is always Creator, Lord of all.
Chorus
One must understand no matter the love of God,
no matter His mercy and love for people,
God does not tolerate those who offend His status,
nor those who offend His dignity.
