864 What Is the Great Pain That God Suffers?
Verse 1
There are some who are sympathetic with Christ’s plight
because there is a verse in the Bible that says:
“The foxes have holes, and the birds have nests;
but the Son of man has not where to lay His head.”
Verse 2
Hearing this people take it to heart and believe
it’s the greatest suffering God and Christ endure.
But looking merely at facts, God does not believe
these hardships to be suffering that He endures.
Pre-chorus 1
He’s never cried out ’gainst injustice
because of His suffering of the flesh;
He has never made man repay or reward Him.
Chorus
However, when God sees everything about the human race,
their evil and the corrupt lives that they all live,
when He sees man’s in Satan’s grasp and can’t escape,
that people live in sin and don’t know what truth is,
He can’t tolerate these sins, loathes man more by the day,
but still He must continue to endure all this.
This is God’s great suffering.
Verse 3
God can’t fully express His heart among followers,
and none of them can understand His pain.
Nobody even tries to understand, comfort His heart,
which suffers year by year and day by day.
Verse 4
God wants nothing in return for all He’s given,
but His essence means He can’t abide man’s sin.
He hates and loathes their evil and corruption,
and so endures unending suffering.
Pre-chorus 2
Have any of you ever seen this?
Most likely, none of you could see,
because none of you can ever truly understand God.
Chorus
When God sees everything about the human race,
their evil and the corrupt lives that they all live,
when He sees man’s in Satan’s grasp and can’t escape,
that people live in sin and don’t know what truth is,
He can’t tolerate these sins, loathes man more by the day,
but still He must continue to endure all this.
This is God’s great suffering.
