180 I Pledge Unto Death to Follow God Faithfully
1 I was arrested by the CCP for spreading the gospel and bearing witness to God. Trapped in a demons’ lair, I lay on the freezing floor. They used all kinds of devices to torture my weakened body. Being humiliated by the demons made death seem preferable to life. So many times, I was weak and wept in anguish. So many times, I was tortured and groaned in pain. Despair and fear surrounded me; my heart wept. I didn’t know when the torture and torment would come to an end. So many times, I prayed to God in the pitch black of night. God’s words gave me the faith to stand firm.
2 I thought of the wonderful time I spent together with God; that joyful time arose in my mind. How could I forget the vow I made then to bear victorious testimony to shame Satan? Even if this pain had not yet been taken from me, but continued, even if the devil tried both the carrot and the stick against me, even if I would be martyred in the very next moment, I firmly believed my life and death were in God’s hands. I would never surrender, no matter how Satan tormented me, and I vowed to bear resounding witness to glorify God.
3 Through trials and tribulations, I finally awoke. I saw that Satan is despicable, cruel, and evil. Flames of rage were kindled in my heart. I pledged my life to forsake the great red dragon and bear witness to God. It is my honor to be able now to follow Christ of the last days. Being judged by God and gaining the truth is the greatest blessing. With God’s word beside me, I no longer feel alone or afraid. With God guiding me through tribulations, I walk calmly on. Having gone through trials and tribulations, I am filled with faith in God. I pledge unto death to follow Christ until the very end.
