The main character suffered from health problems from the time she was a little girl, but thanks to the grace of God, she sees an improvement in her condition after becoming a believer. She then gives herself over to enthusiastically performing her duty. To her surprise, her condition worsens a few years later, even to the point of becoming life-threatening. In the midst of this, the factory where her husband works also goes bankrupt, leaving the family facing hard times. In her misery, she can't help but feel some resentment toward God and she loses her drive to do her duty. Through seeking and reflection, she realizes that her motivation behind doing her duty has been to gain blessings. She has been bargaining with God, cheating and resisting Him. She is filled with regret and wants to change her misguided perspective on pursuit, and submit to God's rule and arrangements. Incredibly, her condition ends up gradually improving and her husband finds work again. This is her personal, true experience of how everything God does is to cleanse and save mankind.
