626 Those Without Humanity Are Unworthy to Serve God
Verse 1
Many covet status behind God’s back,
gorging and sleeping, steeped in flesh,
not performing duties, freeloading off the church,
standing over others, lecturing with God’s words,
claiming to do God’s will, saying they’re His intimates.
Doesn’t this ring hollow and absurd?
Chorus
You take no burden for your life and church.
Who would trust you? Are you fit for God’s commission?
Would He give you greater tasks?
Does the work not suffer when you serve this way?
Verse 2
If you have right intentions, but cannot serve God
in accordance with His will, then you are being foolish.
But if your intentions aren’t right, and you claim to serve God,
then you oppose Him and God will punish you without mercy.
Chorus
You take no burden for your life and church.
Who would trust you? Are you fit for God’s commission?
Would He give you greater tasks?
Does the work not suffer when you serve this way?
Bridge
You freeload in the house of God,
coveting fleshly comforts, with no heed for God’s interests,
no heed to God’s will, only what is good for you,
nor accepting scrutiny of God’s Spirit.
Scheming and deceiving, you’re two-faced,
like a fox that steals and tramples grapes in the vineyard.
Could these people be God’s intimates?
Are you fit to receive God’s blessings?
Chorus
You take no burden for your life and church.
Who would trust you? Are you fit for God’s commission?
Would He give you greater tasks?
Does the work not suffer when you serve this way?
