In China, a country ruled by the atheistic revolutionary Communist Party, believing in God is equivalent to opposing the Communist Party. Believers are labeled as political criminals, arrested, and convicted. In particular, if believers in Almighty God are arrested, they can be "beaten to death with impunity." As a result, many Christians from The Church of Almighty God have been arrested and subjected to inhuman brutality: Some were subjected to all kinds of brutal torture after being arrested and were beaten black and blue; some were beaten and left disabled, unable to live a normal life; some were sentenced to prison; some were placed under long-term surveillance and deprived of their freedom; many have fled into hiding to evade arrest by the CCP, unable to return home; and some have been forced to flee overseas, living in constant displacement and hardship. In the face of the CCP's long-term, brutal persecution, many Christians have not been cowed. They continue to believe in God in this harsh environment, persisting in doing their duties and following God. This has greatly infuriated the CCP, the evil devil, which constantly launches new arrest and persecution campaigns, and has even declared, "The forces shall only withdraw once the eradication is complete." Consequently, cases of Christians being arrested during gatherings keep occurring. From August 21 to 22, 2023, many Christians from The Church of Almighty God in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, were arrested by the police while they were gathering. The police took them to the Public Security Bureau for secret interrogation. What they endured remained largely unknown to us until recently. Now, nearly three years have passed. Not long ago, we interviewed two of the Christians who were arrested at that time, Xiao Yun and Cheng Zhi. During the interview, we learned that they were subjected to various forms of torture and abuse during their interrogation, including common methods such as starvation, sleep deprivation, and violent beatings. They were also handcuffed from behind, with a 15-kilogram concrete block hung from the handcuffs for long periods. Xiao Yun was forced to eat various insects, such as spiders and green-shelled beetles, while at the same time, insects like spiders and caterpillars were stuffed into her clothing to torment her. It was horrifying, but the police just laughed heartily as they thought up new ways to torture her. Xiao Yun and Cheng Zhi were tortured by the police for a full month, suffering immense physical and mental torment, but they still refused to sign the "Three Statements." Afterward, they were sentenced to prison.
