Yang Ling, a Christian from Hefei City in Anhui Province, has been arrested twice by the CCP police for her faith in God and performance of her duty. On January 23, 2004, Yang Ling was arrested on her way to do her duty, and she was subsequently locked up in a criminal detention house for nearly two years. Throughout this time, the police interrogated her dozens of times. They took turns viciously beating her, smashed the backs of her hands, stomped and ground on her toes, ruthlessly jabbed her nipples, and cuffed her hands behind her back. They also had the other inmates torture and abuse her every day…. Yang Ling was tortured to the brink of death. On December 6, 2005, the guards at the detention house took her to a train station and dumped her there. Yang Ling was only 34, but she was left with multiple injuries and health issues. She suffered from tinnitus and hearing loss; two of her front teeth were knocked loose and later fell out, and she couldn't bite down hard with her molars; she was also left with frequent nausea and inability to eat; her arms were left painful and weak, she became highly sensitive to the cold, and she developed arthritis in both legs; she had to rely on medication for bowel movements for an extended period of time. When her urethritis was severe, she needed several days of IV treatment just to get relief. On September 6, 2012, Yang Ling was arrested by the police again as they tracked her down using her cellphone's GPS. To force her to hand over church offerings, the police took turns brutally beating her, violently smashed her forehead and toenails with the mouth of a bottle, and shoved lit cigarettes up her nostrils. They also tortured her with sleep deprivation, and ultimately, Yang Ling was sentenced to a year and three months in a labor reeducation camp. This persecution left her body with multiple lasting effects: She suffered from long-term insomnia, her cervical spine became deformed, and she developed issues with her lumbar and coccygeal vertebrae, severely impacting her daily life. In this report, Yang Ling will recount the brutal persecution she suffered after being arrested twice.
