In early 2025, authorities in Qingyuan and Foshan, two cities in Guangdong Province, China, launched a sustained arrest campaign targeting members of The Church of Almighty God (CAG), detaining at least 68 individuals.
On January 13, 2025, police in Qingyuan detained 18 CAG Christians.
On February 18, authorities in Foshan conducted a coordinated arrest of CAG Christians. During interrogations, police reportedly described the day as the “closing of the net” of a special task force, with 38 church members detained and more arrests underway in other areas. According to sources, police confiscated church property valued at least at 32,000 RMB (about $4,500 USD) during the operation.
On February 26, Qingyuan police launched another large-scale arrest operation. According to informed sources, four CAG members were detained that day, nine others went missing, and more than 20 remain unaccounted for. The total value of property seized in this operation is still unknown.
