3. The pastors and elders of the religious world all serve God in churches. They are supposed to be vigilant and heedful in awaiting the Lord’s return. So why do they not only make no effort to seek out or investigate Almighty God’s work of the last days, but instead spread rumors, pass judgment on and condemn Almighty God, and try to deceive believers and stop them from investigating the true way?

Bible Verses for Reference:

“Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? For this man does many miracles. If we let Him thus alone, all men will believe on Him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. … Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put Him to death” (John 11:47–48, 53).

“Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world” (1 John 4:2–3).

“For many misleaders are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a misleader and an antichrist” (2 John 1:7).

Relevant Words of God:

There are those who read the Bible in grand churches and recite passages all day long, yet not one among them understands the purpose of God’s work, nor are there any among them who can know God—let alone any who can accord with God’s intentions. They are all worthless, vile people, who stand on high to lecture “God.” They are people who act under the banner of God yet deliberately resist God, who bear the label of believing in God while eating the flesh and drinking the blood of man. All such people are evil devils who devour human souls, head demons who deliberately disturb people from embarking on the right path, and stumbling blocks that obstruct people from seeking God. They may appear to be “physically robust,” but how are their followers to know that they are antichrists who lead people to resist God? How are their followers to know that they are living devils dedicated to devouring human souls?

—The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. All People Who Do Not Know God Are People Who Resist God

If you have believed in God for many years, and yet have never submitted to Him, and do not accept the entirety of His words, and instead ask that God submit to you and act according to your notions, then you are the most rebellious of all, you are a disbeliever. How could such people be able to submit to the work and words of God that do not conform to the notions of man? Most rebellious of all are those who intentionally refuse to yield to God and resist God. They are the enemies of God, the antichrists. They always harbor an attitude of hostility toward the new work of God; they never have the slightest inclination to submit, nor have they ever gladly submitted or humbled themselves. Before others, they are the ones who are the most self-important, and they never submit to anyone. Before God, they consider themselves the best at preaching “sermons,” and the most skillful in doing work on others. Never do they let go of the “treasures” in their possession; instead they treat them as family heirlooms to be worshipped and preached about to others, and they use them to lecture those dimwits who idolize them. There are indeed a certain number of people like this in the church. It can be said that they are “a dynasty of indomitable heroes,” generation after generation sojourning in the house of God. They take preaching “sermons” (doctrines) to be their highest duty. Year after year, generation after generation, they go about rigorously carrying out their “sacred and inviolable” duty. No one dares to touch them; not a single person dares to openly reproach them. They become “kings” in the house of God, running rampant as they tyrannize others from age to age. This pack of evil demons seeks to join hands to demolish My work; how can I allow these living devils to exist before My eyes?

—The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Those Who Submit to God With a True Heart Shall Surely Be Gained by God

Before God became flesh, the measure of whether someone resisted God was based on whether they worshiped and looked up to the invisible God in heaven. That period’s definition of “resisting God” was not all that practical, for people could not see God, and didn’t know just what the image of God was like or how exactly He worked and spoke. People had no notions about God whatsoever, and believed in God from a place of nebulousness, because God had not yet appeared to man. Therefore, no matter how people believed in God based on their imaginings, God did not condemn them or make overly high demands of them, because they were completely unable to see God. When God becomes flesh and comes to work among people, all behold Him and hear His words, and see the deeds of God in the flesh, whereupon everyone’s notions burst like bubbles. As for those who see God appearing in the flesh, they shall not be condemned if they intentionally submit to Him, whereas those who purposefully resist Him shall be characterized as people who resist God. Such people are antichrists, enemies who deliberately resist God.

—The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. All People Who Do Not Know God Are People Who Resist God

Don’t many people resist God and obstruct the work of the Holy Spirit because they do not know the varied and diverse work of God, and, furthermore, because they use the little bit of knowledge and doctrine which they possess to measure the work of the Holy Spirit? Though these people have only had superficial experiences, they are haughty, willful and unrestrained in nature, they regard the work of the Holy Spirit with disdain, ignore the discipline meted out by the Holy Spirit and, moreover, use their trifling old doctrines to “confirm” the work of the Holy Spirit. They are also posers, and are wholly convinced of their own erudition, believing they range freely throughout the whole world. Are such people not those who are spurned by the Holy Spirit, and those who are eliminated by the new age? Aren’t those who come before God and openly resist Him despicable individuals with shallow and limited knowledge who are flaunting their own “brilliance”? They have just a tiny bit of knowledge of the Bible, and yet they wish to have free rein throughout the world’s “academic circles”; they have just a tiny bit of superficial doctrine to teach people, and yet they want to reverse the course of the work of the Holy Spirit and attempt to make it revolve around their own thought processes. Short-sighted as they are, they wish to behold the magnificence of God’s 6,000 years of work. These people do not have any reason to speak of! In fact, the more knowledge people have of God, the less they judge His work lightly—they only talk a little of their knowledge of God’s present work, but do not casually pass judgment on it. The less people know God, the brasher they are, the more they overestimate themselves, and the more wantonly they proclaim what God is, and yet what they proclaim is only doctrine and has no factual basis. These are the most worthless people. Those who treat the work of the Holy Spirit as a game are frivolous people! Upon encountering the new work of the Holy Spirit, they do not approach it cautiously, but instead run their mouths off and are quick to judge, give free rein to their own will to deny the correctness of the Holy Spirit’s work, and even insult or blaspheme it—aren’t these disrespectful individuals ignorant of the Holy Spirit’s work, and, furthermore, people of great arrogance who are inherently haughty and unrestrained? Even if a day comes when such people accept the Holy Spirit’s new work, they still won’t obtain God’s forgiveness. Not only do they look down upon those who work for God, but they also blaspheme God Himself. Such desperados will not be pardoned, either in this life or the world to come, and they shall forever perish in hell! Such disrespectful, self-indulgent people merely wear the label of believers, and the more people are like this, the more liable they are to violate God’s administrative decrees. Don’t all those arrogant individuals who are innately unbridled, and who have never obeyed anyone, walk this path? Do they not, day in and day out, in this manner resist God who is always new and never old?

—The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Knowing the Three Stages of God’s Work Is the Path to Knowing God

Man only accepts one kind of work, or one kind of practice, and it is difficult for man to accept work or practices that are at odds with, or higher than, these. But the Holy Spirit is always doing new work, and so there appear group after group of religious experts that resist the new work of God. These people have become “experts” precisely because they have no knowledge of how God is always new and never old, and have no knowledge of the principles of God’s work, and, furthermore, have no knowledge of the many ways in which God saves man. As such, man is utterly unable to tell if it is work that comes from the Holy Spirit, and if it is the work of God Himself. Many people cling to an attitude in which, if something corresponds with the words that came before, they accept it, and if something is different from the work of before, then they oppose and reject it. Today, do you all not abide by such principles? … Know that you resist God’s work, or use your own notions to measure the work of today, because you do not know the principles of God’s work, and because of your rash treatment of the work of the Holy Spirit. Your resistance to God and obstruction of the work of the Holy Spirit is caused by your notions and inherent arrogance. It is not because God’s work is wrong, but because you are naturally too rebellious. After finding their belief in God, some people cannot even say with certainty where man came from, yet they dare to make public speeches judging the rights and wrongs of the Holy Spirit’s work. They even lecture the apostles who have the Holy Spirit’s new work, passing comment and making insolent remarks; their humanity is too low, and there is not the slightest reason in them. Will the day not come when such people are spurned by the work of the Holy Spirit, and burned by the fires of hell? They do not know the work of God, but instead judge His work, and also try to instruct God how to work. How can such people who are devoid of reason know God? Man comes to know God during the process of seeking and experiencing; knowledge of God is not gained through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit in the course of man making arbitrary judgments. The more accurate people’s knowledge of God becomes, the less they resist Him. In contrast, the less people know of God, the more likely they are to resist Him. Your notions, your old nature, and your humanity, character, and moral outlook are the capital with which you resist God, and the more corrupt your morals are, the viler your character is, and the baser your humanity is, the more you are the enemy of God. Those who are possessed of strong notions and who have a self-righteous disposition are even more in enmity of God incarnate; such people are the antichrists. If your notions are not rectified, then they will always be against God; you will never be compatible with God, and will always be apart from Him.

Previous: 2. The pastors and elders of the religious world are all well-versed in the Bible and often expound on it to others, asking that people adhere to the Bible. In so doing, do they not elevate and testify to the Lord? How can you say that they are deceiving people, that they are hypocritical Pharisees?

Next: 4. The religious world frantically resists and condemns Almighty God. It has committed evil act after evil act, becoming a staunch bastion of antichrists. But what will the religious world’s outcome and end be for believing in God but opposing God’s work of the last days?
